My wife let me buy a Prelude for my birthday last year. It was a big deal because we don’t normally have the cash on hand to just buy a car, and she put off some house projects she really wanted to get done to let me do it. The car does need some TLC, but it still runs and drives good half a year later. Sometimes people throw me a shaka sign or a thumbs up. I love getting to drive stick again. It makes driving fun, like I’m 16 again. Feels good, man. I’m one lucky guy, and my wife just gets me.
I was approached by a guy who recently moved to the area and needed help getting some things printed. I walked with him halfway to the library and we chatted about stuff. Hope to see him around town again
I have been collecting game consoles for nearly a decade, and the collection is beginning to round off. I have nearly every Atari, Sega, Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox console released in North America. It has taken a long time, and a lot of deal finding, but it is a rewarding task/hobby.
Unfortunately time isn’t something I have much of, but when I do I try my best to sit down and play something. I usually tend to lean towards my NES or Super Nintendo, but I just recently got an Atari Jaguar and a copy of Doom. So that’s been the latest time waster : )
Have any good ones for your PS1? I always loved Crash Bandicoot 3, childhood classic for me!
Trust me when I say; The video game market went up during Covid, and now it just denies to go back down. I’ve bought a couple consoles from Japan just because they’re cheaper, and some of them are region free.
I’m fairly sure all of those except the PS2 and Wii are region free (without modding). If you ever go to wanting them back, grab one on eBay from Japan. Significantly cheaper, and you can play the same games!
The most recent thing that's made me happy is the MST3K Forever-athon on YouTube/Twitch. I've been dealing with some stress in my personal and professional life, and having that to go back to whenever I need it is really nice.
Puttering around the neighborhood on my feet or bike; feeling the sun on my face. Doodling. Relaxing in a clean home/warm bath. Strawberries. Walked my fur baby the other day and saw a honeybee when I saw none, all summer last year, that made me happy.
I’ve been wanting to get into a new hobby but damn hobbies can be expensive. But it’s giving me a sense of excitement I haven’t had in a while and it breaks up the monotony of the working grind.
The one I’m trying to get into is homemade FPV drones. Building from scratch, just like building a PC. Sourcing the frame, motor, electronics. Soldering and configuring. Flight testing and tinkering. More fun I think than just buying an off-the-shelf DJI Mavic.
The parts themselves don’t cost all that much but it adds up fast.
Fire walk scenes in movies. You know its a dude in a suit, acting his heart out for a few brief moments of glory on screen, while on fire! Bonus if they’re falling off a building or something epic
