People will always corrupt a system for personal gain
Now you are just making stuff up. People are selfless all the time. But in a capitalist society you are punished for being selfless and awarded for being selfish. It’s a highly anti social ideology.
Don’t worry, the guillotines won’t be necessary. Sam Altman will create a universal income to keep the poor from any violent urges. Of cause that income is paid in some crypto coin and requires you to scan your eyes in some orb and happens to make Sam Altman rich, because he founded this coin.
Who knows, maybe you can by micro transactions with worldcoins in the future.
When was the last time EA had an idea that made things better for the customers… you know like how companies are supposed to work. Customers pay and in exchange they get something that makes their lives a little better. But it’s always just about extracting value and giving as little as possible back.
“Here take the same reskinned soccer game, now a little bit more expensive, with ads and new bugs, and some micro transactions, because you should pay us more, because fuck you”
I really hope these developers create new independent studios and if they ever get offered a big bag of money, they will remember what happened last time. Maybe they will be smart enough to create worker owned studios and not waste huge salaries on useless CEOs.
I wish more people would create worker owned cooperatives. They might be more resilient and might even be more productive. Of cause the downside is that they don’t make one person very rich.
If cloud gaming ever becomes the norm, the consumer will have no power left. That’s their end game, to lock us into platforms and extract subscription and when they can’t get more subscribers they will demand higher prices and add more advertising. People who are paying for game pass, are investing in this future for gaming.
Sure that’s how it is now. As soon as the technology is mature enough, they will slowly begin to make a push for cloud only games. In that way they have total control. They can’t do it now because the technology is not quite there yet, and people is not ready. But you can see where they are heading. All business software such as Office and other cloud services is already there.
You are right, that there are no games now bound to the cloud right now. But look at Microsoft business model in other areas. It’s all software as a service, web apps in the cloud, that businesses pay a subscription to use. It’s great way to extract value from customers, because it gets harder and harder to move away from these platforms. Your data, save games, your friend list, your ability to play multiplayer and so on, get increasingly locked to one platform, which makes it harder to move. And then Microsoft can just collect rent, they don’t have to innovate or compete on a free market. This trend is sometimes called techno-feudalism.
Today, one day after Microsoft announced that it would shut down four of its games studios, Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, held a town hall to discuss the division’s future goals. “We need smaller games that give us prestige and awards,” Booty told employees, according to internal remarks shared with The Verge....
It’s not nothing if Telegram makes people believe they only share their location in a limited manner, but instead broadcast it to the whole world. That’s a serious breach of trust. I don’t know why Telegram users keep making excuses for that platform.
Why do people keep letting Microsoft be in control. Stop buying Xbox and Gamepass. Stop using Windows. Don’t use Microsoft Office. That’s it. Microsoft is no longer a part of your life and you can forget they exist.
I think for grandma Linux is actually easy. You can easily make it look like Windows or Mac or something recognisable with big friendly icons. And lock it down, so she can’t mess anything up. The only difficulty part is if you need something very specific that only works on Windows. But for gaming, browsing and Office, most things works absolutely fine on Linux. Valve has made it incredibly easy to install Steam games on Linux, even if they officially only work on Windows.
Most Linux apps can be installed from an App Store, that works like it does on phones. It’s a bit different, but it’s not harder. The exception is some multiplayer games that require some aggressive anti cheat, that won’t work. It’s also easier if you have an AMD GPU as it will just work on Linux, nvidia is making it a bit difficult, but that’s nvidia fault for not playing nice.
Installing something like Pop Linux doesn’t take more than 20 minutes.
At least Nintendo actually put out finished games that’s not filled with micro transactions. Of the big gaming companies I actually enjoy Nintendo games most. They are kind of conservative, meaning they deliver finished and polished products and if they create DLC it’s often quality content for a decent price. Nintendo and a gaming PC is the best combo. PlayStation and Xbox are just cheap under powered PCs, where you pay to play online.
Wii had backwards compatibility, same with Wii U. Switch couldn’t use disk so it couldn’t be. All the Gameboys had it. Super Nintendo as well. 3Ds and DS had it. Nintendo often do it.
If anyone really wants to play a Ubisoft game, just wait. You’ll get less bugs for a way better price. There is never any reason to buy a Ubisoft game at lunch.
That’s true, but you can install games outside of Steam on a SteamDeck. You are not forced to give Valve money for game sales. It’s not a walled garden.
