What are your thoughts on filen? I don’t seem to be able to find a community for them here, but it seems like a pretty solid up and coming company for secure cloud storage options.
I am now using disroot . I don’t care about anonymity or anything as I just wanna use it to connect to my bank, ID and buy/book shit etc. Which all have my phone number, address, name etc anyway so no point in that . I just want the security privacy to be good enough that no one can easily hack it, steal my OTP, inbox etc and...
Just had this idea pop up in my mind. Instead of relying on volunteers mirroring package repositories all around the world, why not utilise BitTorrent protocol to move at the very least some some load unto the users and thus increase download speeds as well as decrease latency?
But as a third party you can not know which clients are using this outdated http mirror. On BitTorrent you can see every participating peers and some of them are probably enduser machines (depending on the actual implementation of OP’s suggestion).
I was one of their strongest advocates, but their progress is unbearably slow. SimpleX for example has advanced a lot more in the same timeframe.
To me it seems like at the current pace they will need another two to three years to solve their problems.
The video discusses criticism of the Linux Foundation and how it spends its funds. While the Linux Foundation is the largest employer of Linux kernel developers, only 2-3% of its budget goes towards that. The rest is spent on various other projects like blockchain, AI, and cloud computing. The video creator argues that the Linux Foundation should allocate more of its funding towards improving the Linux desktop ecosystem, which is underfunded compared to these other initiatives. However, the video acknowledges that the Linux Foundation is beholden to the interests of its corporate members, who likely prioritize the other areas the foundation supports. The video presents the creator’s perspective, while recognizing the Linux Foundation’s right to spend its money as it sees fit.
ytdl is a small script for Linux as an alternative interface to yt-dlp (which itself is a fork from youtube-dl, to download YouTube videos). My goal is to make some of its functionality a bit more accessible for the daily usage. This includes predefined settings and narrowing it down to options I care most about.
And a person claimed in a later post that “around 300” of their old pictures, some of which were “revealing,” appeared on an iPad they’d wiped per Apple’s guidelines and sold to a friend.
How would that even work? Wiping a device resets the encryption keys, doesn’t it?

VideoLAN @videolan App Stores were a mistake. Currently, we cannot update VLC on Windows Store, and we cannot update VLC on Android Play Store, without reducing security or dropping a lot of users… For now, iOS App Store still allows us to ship for iOS9, but until when?
Okay, but are they still releasing updates via other channels? The newest version on their website is 3.5.4, the same that I got through the play store.
Does anyone know how they handle spoofed malware? I can never figure out whether I can trust the packages from flathub. I always have to check the official website of the particular software first.
That’s not so much a filter bubble as it is noise reduction. No, I don’t want to have Pinterest results in my search engine. No, I don’t have an Instagram or Twitter account and therefore can’t see the content there anyway. I am developer, so I want to raise the relevance of GitHub in my results.
