Thats a weird way of saying you don’t want to work wirh Kojima. Its fine but, a lot of this made up stuff can made up vibe together. Bayonetta was dope in Smash Bros.

Link? I will instantly use it. Mostly to stick it to Intuit.

Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1 & 2 for GameCube. Its not exactly what you asked for, but its the ultimate game for me.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

The game was that special, I mean it originally released for DreamCast and it had online play! Its a special kind of RPG that actually defined what Phantasy Star would become in the coming decades.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I didn’t get to sadly. It was actually before my time and I had a friend get me into it around 2010 in high school.

I don’t think it was cross platform, as each console version was a different version of the game. The GameCube version differed greatly in some aspects from the DreamCast version. There are online servers for the PC version (Blue Burst) still in existence today. That version had all the content of the previous iterations with an extra last boss fight and level.

Its insanity, Unity is a good product. There is a place for it in reality. In any sane world this product would have continued to operate how it was and it would have benefited people. But since profits are attached everything will have to be ruined eventually. Unreal is next to bat.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Allowing leaders to use profits however they wish has been a disaster. I don’t know if it was codified into law, but when companies had to invest in R&D, and they had to invest in employees before drinking their own koolaid the world was a better place. Employees were taken care of, average people could thrive. Now its an open feeding trough everyone else is exempt from. The modern world only thrives with checks and balances, its proven that without them the powerful cannot be trusted.

To add to other comments, Bethesda NPCs haven’t aged well. Especially when they’re right next to Baldur’s Gate 3 NPCs. Starfield left a lot to be desired. Can’t believe we’ve been lacking ES for this

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

The name of the game has changed. Its no longer about shoving stuff in a big world. Players of the genre want their choices to matter in an adaptive world. Bethesda didn’t get the memo they were so caught up in their empty dream sandbox.

Edit: I should also add expected AI behavior is evolving. After Rain World, I notice bland AI.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Its fucking jarring. Same story here. Stopped my BG3 cause my friend begged me. I said nah and he let me remote play it to try it out. I instantly recognized the same bullshit from all the way back to Oblivion out of the NPCs. They just feel dated now. Especially next to BG3 who probably put a ton of work into their NPCs.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

20 years ago this was Bethesda’s style. They were the open-world rpg simulation. Now and Indie Dev can drop 6 character models and 6 objects into a game engine and have similar functionality in maybe a month. Two weeks if its hunkering down like a game jam. Technology has surpassed their products. They need to do something to spice it up or ES 6 is gonna bomb.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I just can’t help but think how the Unity Engine is a phenomenal product. Maybe our systems don’t work as well as we think they do if this company is foaming at the mouth because the metric says its bad. I used Unity for five years, its great, it didn’t need to change, but green line needed to go up.

@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Do a Warhammer one, or a Lancer one, or literally any other TTRPG like this and I’m down. I dont even care if its partially a clone as long as the story is this deep. Shit Larian can just do another one up lets go.

Edit: could you imagine a fallout like this? Or a Vampire: Masquerade? Or maybe a Star Wars: EOTE?

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Its hard to hit those thematic notes of the setting while also shoving your own story in there. If GW gave me a license I have a soulslike thats perfect for 40k’s entry.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Just buying a split (doesnt even have to be ergo) will fix your problems. I have a charybdis from bastardkb and all my typing flaws were instantly revealed. It honestly took me about a month to get used to it, considering I type on a lot of keyboards and mine is the only split ergo in the office.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

“All those years culminated in this”

I can’t say its dogshit cause I haven’t played it. But I can say I’m not downloading these 150+ GB messes.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

How does this bode well? PCs are extremely varied, as far as I know consoles have known components inside that can be targeted. This isn’t the case with end-user PCs. So why does that translate to good tidings for us?

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you, I was under the assumption that the benefits of console optimizations are mostly known hardware. I just looked up the Series S, damn.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

No! I fucken love TimeSplitters to this day. RIP to a legendary studio.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not really seeing that. Only a revival project announced on 2021. After Crytek UK (what became of the original Free Radical Design) was closed, Koch Media purchased the rights to TimeSplitters.

Edit: ah, found it on THQ Nordic’s list of acquisions, Wikipedia needs to update the TimeSplitters page. Acquisition List

StarCraft could return, according to Blizzard president, but not necessarily as an RTS (www.pcgamer.com)

While Blizzard is very much focussed on its big money-makers like its various Warcraft games, from WoW to Hearthstone to Warcraft Rumble, as well as Diablo and the much-maligned Overwatch 2, he’s still open to StarCraft making a comeback. That said, RTS fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. While the series might return, that...

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

They need to make a Starcraft vs Warhammer 40k game. If only because Starcraft is 40k lite.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Thats exactly what happened and its exactly why we should have a cross over. But by the downvotes it seems people dont want it.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I already seen someone meltdown over this in discord and honestly why care so much? Its their spiderman story. I’m just waiting for a squad spiderverse game where you get to customize your spiderperson.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Ooooh, time to 1 hit people with Holy Shock again. What a time to relive.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

There was some nasty builds out there during Cata. My Light stayed them all.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

It was quite literally unfair how insane paladins were in Cata. I loved every minute of it. Healing people, holy shock procks, kill flag carrier in 1 click, go back to healing. It was so dumb, I miss it.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

It was insane. I have a similar story with a troll rogue. Dude had insane hp regen and it was basically my mana bar versus his skill at disengaging to regen. Got down to 2% health and finally got a proc off on him to end it. He died in one hit that was around 280k I think? It was nuts. I was a healer. Azeroth was my place too. Lok’Tar Ogar!

Games that require you to unlock the basic functions of the game can suck my nuts.

I have recently played 3 games that have forced a lengthy, unskippable tutorial section that runs for several hours of the game, just to unlock the most basic functions like buying the items, customizing features, multiplayer, and even 2-player split screen modes....

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Its not, and on subsequent playthroughs the tutorial is skipped and online is available. You get multiplayer at the end of chapter 2, there are 5 chapters in the game.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I shouldn’t have to. And if I do it should all be toggles in one place. Not scattered and hidden throughout control panel, settings, and the terminal.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

It does not take 30 seconds, it takes up to five minutes. Some of these changes also get reverted with specific updates and suddenly you’re seeing ads again.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Thats the tailored experiences, common users dont have the knowledge to safely edit registry keys. Thats a bullshit excuse to hide ads there and you know it. Stop defending shitty practices.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Yes I am. Saying “its not that bad, it only takes thirty seconds” is literally defending shoving ads down our throats and making them hard to remove. That way of thinking deserves to be crucified. Ads have no place living on an OS.

Sanctus, (edited )
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Because its fucking mind boggling people would ever even provide an excuse for this. Why? Even if it did take thirty seconds, why? I would still curse it.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Games as a Service are exhausting. We’ve been keeping up with this shit for a decade. Its tiring. I don’t play games with seasons anymore.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Bungie really had a thing for making us touch as many balls as possible.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

To put it simply, season passes.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

DLC? Just download the mod lol

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

DLC usually comes with the assumption it is officially released by the company. Nobody says “did you see the dlc that just dropped?” when referring to mods, even if the mods are just expansion packs.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Say what you want but I am totally looking forward to the space ship armor dlc

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Dude what? We haven’t even made a return to Melee form yet. There are thousands of characters to add. Look at the modded Melee on dolphin if you need pointers, fans always have more vision anyway.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

There is much more they could do. While building heavily off of what they already have. People clearly want a true competitive successor to Melee and with the input delays on new controllers and wireless devices people aren’t liking it. They have a lot they could do with minimal effort. Just because you once had vision doesn’t mean you can’t lose it. If modders can make this, why is Nintendo throwing the towel in? He is speaking of “magnetitude” like the game needs loads of content. When in reality Smash Bros fans are competitively motivated. Your share from the article enlightens nothing.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Thats my point, it doesnt need to be bigger. It needs to foster its competitive side. Him focusing on “bigger” in my opinion says he doesn’t know what keeps people coming back to Smash. Its the competition. You can side eye me with the article all you want, but Sakurai has been saying Ultimate is the last since its release.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

I can think of quite a few Nintendo characters not featured. Lets not act like Smash Bros deals aren’t rather lucrative from an outside perspective.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

input lag example.

Ultimate is the last.

Yeah, people are playing after Sora’s release and a new KH announcement. Ultimate is fun, but people like me want a return to Melee.

He speaks of pushing the series further, it doesn’t need that in my opinion. Its cool you don’t agree with me.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

That entire dlc was kind of a disgrace even if the end was fitting. If they could chop that off and factor in the rest of the story without a shitty ass retexture dlc that would be great, too.
