wanting to hop into the world of linux on a dual boot method (one of my favorite games unfortunately cannot be run on linux at all, and it’s a gacha. I don’t want to gamble with my account being banned, so I’m keeping windows for it specifically.) this’ll be my second go at it, I used Pop!_OS briefly but had some issues...

I’m on Pop_OS and really like it. I chose it because i have a 2080, so the nvidia specific package is great for me. No WiFi issues, but I almost always have it hard wired, so not much chance to have it go wrong

Is that still true? The article/github thread cited on Prism Break are from 2012 and 2013 respectively. It seems only to be true of Ubuntu 12.10. The only thing I can from from current Ubuntu versions is the ad in the command line when doing an apt upgrade, and that is from 2022. It does not appear to exist in other Ubuntu based distros since it is an ad for Ubuntu Pro. Not saying it is great, but it seems like non-Canonical distros should be OK.

Much easier said than done. I would personally like to, but I need a good replacement for Android Auto/Google Maps in my car. That is me personally, though. For a lot of not technically inclined people that is not possible.

Why do you assume that pro-Palestinian people = pro-Hamas? How many dead Israeli people is enough to justify genocide? Nobody is saying that Hamas are the good guys, but they do often say they understand the material realities that created them (Israeli state actions). Everyone I know that is saying don’t commit genocide also say it is not OK for Hamas to kill civilians, often in the same breath.

I threw Mint on a partition to test moving away from Windows, and sadly does not play well with my 2080ti. This makes me want to put more effort into getting it to work…

Well good news, I tried Pop_OS and it worked great, so no need to swap cards. Probably going to spend the day backing up my files and installing it on the full drive today

Same here. I did a test run of Mint on my 2013 macbook pro, and it was a mixed bag. Mostly streaming games from my desktop was unusable, but since that is a big part of what I do with that laptop, it was kind if a deal breaker. Granted the video driver for that laptop is real old, so will probably still try on my desktop.

Turns out he couldn’t keep his mouth shut and is also just a rich asshole. But a lot of people bought in early and made loving Elon a personality trait. So here we are
