modifier,

Is this a Game of Thrones reference? I am confuse

modifier,

I’m sure it has a lot more to do with discouraging others from giving it a go.

4-star generals side with Smith, tell SCOTUS Trump immunity claim is 'assault' on democracy (lawandcrime.com)

A distinguished group of retired four-star generals and admirals from the U.S. military have argued in a brief filed in the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday that Donald Trump’s claims of absolute “presidential immunity” from criminal prosecution tied to Jan. 6 is an “assault” on the “foundational commitments”...

modifier,

Until the crushing realization that much of our relative advantage and comfort is due to the outright exploitation of much of the disadvantaged.

“Peaceful, orderly, democratic transition of power”: One of our top exports.

modifier,

Well we didn’t claim to invent exploitation. Just to have perfected it.

modifier,

Same. I actually thought that was the joke at first, until I realized this is probably app-specific behavior, and not widely known.

Mike Johnson, The Human Shrug.

Don’t let his resting ‘welp’ face deceive you though. Evil is perpetrated though craven little doofii like him having power, however tenuous that power is.

Water already is my favorite drink.

modifier,

Which neighborhood are you from?

modifier,

Which is okay. You don’t need to be from here to comment on it, and you don’t strike me as someone who would modify your position much based on interacting with the actual human beings involved anyway.

But I do wonder what you think ‘pandering to liberals’ is in practical terms and how it is different from, say, acting in a way that most represents the values of a majority liberal constituency.

modifier,

The values of a majority liberal constituency should still involve improving the safety and livability of the area.

A functioning government can do more than one thing at a time. YTD homicides are down YoY, continuing a 3 year trend, which the migrant surge is smack dab in the middle of. We know you aren’t here and are devoid of firsthand knowledge, so how do you imagine this migrant crisis actually playing out on the ground here? Because you sound ridiculous.

You’re allowed to talk out of your ass all you want, but I don’t need to stick around for the stench.

modifier,

Which is honestly a most republican of desires.

After almost 22 years of blissful marriage and passionate romance, nutting in your wife remains one of my favorite pastimes.

modifier,

Look we can’t start blaming individual countries - even if Poland has unusually gassy citizens, I just don’t think they are a large enough population to make that kind of difference.

modifier,

Same exact thing happened to me except instead of adamantium it was my virginity and instead of becoming super-powerful I became a dad.

modifier,

I enjoyed this for what it is: therapeutic fan fiction.

Moving on, we should not underestimate:

  • How absolutely craven most republican lawmakers are
  • How well, for better or worse, Trump communicates to boomers who we already know are active at the ballot box
  • how deeply bought in the Christian right/Christian nationalists are

Campaign math doesn’t work like it did. Just because Trump is dismantling seemingly durable elements of the GOP establishment, that doesn’t mean he’s dismantling his capability to win.

Vote like it’s the last election ever. I’ll leave the rest unsaid.

modifier,

I’m not sure I agree with this. It seems wholly plausible that another politician could easily pick up the mantle and use the Trumpian playbook. I get the cult of personality thing, but I’m not convinced the danger goes away with Trump’s last wretched heartbeat.

Consequences

They’re what happens 'round the bend

Consequences

They will get you in the end

modifier,

Even as a bit, that’s just too many emoji.

Which is a shame because the joke doesn’t need them to be funny

modifier,

Well I certainly apologize to you for any pain I’ve caused and I will make sure to smooth things over with the joke too.

modifier,

Only near the equator, lower down it’s still a minute but it’s like backwards or counter-clockwise or summink.

modifier,

Sfunny, it looks quite similar to Soylent Green but is in every way its opposite.

modifier,

I’m in the process of learning German so my mental shorthand way of thinking about Dutch is that it’s basically German with extra As and Os.

modifier,

My first instinct is to agree with you.

My second instinct is to think that most of what I tend to think of as bullshit cold legalese is actually exceedingly precise, which I have to admit is a good quality to have when it comes to matters of law.

modifier,

I think you accidentally followed the instructions correctly.

modifier,

Ah, boring.

modifier,

Well now I’m just not sure that’s true, and it certainly depends on what you’re going for. It stands to reason that cold water in an enema has a lot more surface area and will thus dissipate heat much more quickly than a very cold cube of coconut oil, especially if it’s cold in the center.

Plus an enema won’t provide lubrication, if that’s what is desired.

modifier,

I am not saying this story is true, but this snippet does not falsify it.

modifier,

Or just…both

modifier,

I must ask, nay demand, that from now on when referring to my testicles, they are referred to individually and as distinct entities to each other and the scrotum.

modifier,

This is sublime.

modifier, (edited )

Stipulated without objection but I’m not sure what point you are intending to make. And, based on the logic in this thread, you can’t get slapped in the nuts without surgically accessing them first and we should all start talking about getting slapped in the scrotum - which is still technically different than getting slapped in the taint, so whatever point you’re making is safe.

modifier,

This feels like a joke that anticipates the community notes as a punchline. I don’t frequent Twitter, but I have to imagine this is a burgeoning genre of comedy tweet

modifier,

Sure agreed; anyone who has seen Arrested Development has seen this basic dynamic play out a few dozen times, and that’s just one example.

modifier,

The fact that this is probably a fairly non-controversial pick in a year that arguably had a bumper crop of great games really underscores just what an amazing game this is.

modifier,

Unbelievably, I’m playing (and enjoying) Fallout 76 after avoiding it for so many years of following it’s travails from afar.

It’s buggy in all those Bethesda ways that are almost comfortable in their familiarity at this point, and it’s got a lot to explore. This can tide me over until Starfield is discounted and improved.

Also been playing Teardown a bit, which has a really cool look and feel. Hyper-real except a voxel universe, if that makes sense. Lots of fun to destroy the environment.

modifier,

It was probably meant more for the community than the consumers, two overlapping but distinct groups.
