celeste,

I’ve heard good stuff about the film “Pride” which is still on my watchlidt, haven’t wstched yet. I personally really liked “Petit fille” (french for “little girl”) and 20.000 especies de abejas (20.000 species of bees) both films describe little trans girls and the struggle of them and their family of finding a place in such a trandphobic world.

Also last year I watched “Joyland” a Pakistani movie describing the situation/roles of trans people in Pakistan and about poverty and gender roles in Pakistan as a whole. Though this one has the most triggers and I did cry while watching, as do all these movies. If you want specific warnings for any of these movies I could follow up with some, though not all because my memory is funny like that.

Pride is a fantastic, heartfelt, and bittersweet movie based on a true story. It’s worth a watch!

tapdattl,

Paris is Burning is the first queer movie I ever watched, definitely still recommended

CubitOom,

I recomend Velvet Goldmine, has some great music.

neuracnu,

The best queer film I saw last year was Kokomo City, a documentary about black trans sex workers. It was legit.

That does sound legit, thanks for sharing! I’ve shamefully just been watching horror lately. Attachment is a recent queer horror movie. The horror elements don’t have anything to do with the queerness, but the main couple are lesbians

neuracnu,

There’s nothing shameful about enjoying a good genre picture. :D

Catoblepas,

The Celluloid Closet is a good watch, it’s about the history of the portrayal of queer people in cinema and the history of queer actors. It’s from the 90s but it stands up well IMO.
