Russia on Monday threatened to strike British military facilities and said it would hold drills simulating the use of battlefield nuclear weapons amid sharply rising tensions over comments by senior Western officials about possibly deeper involvement in the war in Ukraine....
I have complained to the chancellor about that and will continue to do so. But they do provide Taurus to allies who in turn send their stock of older but similarly capable systems to Ukraine such as storm shadow.
Still, it's silly and our weapons are only for defense against Russia anyway. We will only need Taurus ourselves if Ukraine loses. Might as well put them to use.
Do you realize how much effort and resources are expended in raising and training 100 human beings? That's thousands of rounds of ammo not being shot at Ukrainian soldiers, because dead men carry no guns, operate no equipment and don't pass on their experience to new soldiers.
It's all around horrible what's going on, but 100 soldiers are no laughing matter. Robotyne was defended by 4 soldiers at one point some weeks ago. Russia has been trying to retake that village since they lost it last year.
How have they no means to fix their business model by cutting back on what does not work? Like.. are they supposed to just keep burning money year after year on the same direction that is the cause of burning money in hopes of something magically changing about it?
That would be the sunk cost fallacy, no? If anything they now have a chance to direct their attention to getting new revenue streams because they stopped the bleeding. They got no debt except some remnant of a 0% loan by the French government. Not sure what will whittle away at them?
I do not like their current business model and do think they need to adapt, but for the first time since 2018 they even have the financial situation to try.
I mean, they're profitable for the first time since 2018. Not least thanks to a huge amount of cost cutting the past two or three years. This is more of that.
I was donating until I got an email telling me to donate more signed by their CEO or something who earns a couple hundred thousand a year.
Mind, I wasn't opted into communcation like that. Only updates and news this was neither. If their new CEO cleans house and refocuses as they said they will, I will consider renewing my donations again.
I managed to get this instead of a pay raise. One of the very best decisions I ever made. Sure more money is always nice but it wouldn't be the difference between buying a house and not anyway. Might as well reclaim life time and enjoy what I got, while I got it.
I love that capitalism is more concerned about setting precedent here than saving lives, yet nonsense like civil forfeiture in the US leads to millions stolen from regular people each year. It's always only about whose bottom line is affected. Can't make a case for seizing foreign assets and redistributing them. That would mean everyone can do it and after all, it's a large club of very white gentlemen who have backroom agreements on this kind of stuff. If they do this with Russian assets, what's gonna stop China from doing the same with US assets!? How could we ever keep up with international trade and investments and tax evasion schemes, if we allow such horrible treatment of the most vulnerable billionaires of our society?

Exactly. Steam didn't invest in marketing nonsense and gimmicks to get people on their platform. For consumers it is simply the superior product, DRM not withstanding.
They got their issues, no doubt. But I have never seen a quasi monopoly be more consumer oriented than steam.
I really don't agree with: get stronger must also have world get more difficult. This is how you get scaling difficulty, where you never feel like you're going anywhere, because every upgrade is made pointless by enemies just becoming more dangerous in turn.
Bullethell rogue likes like vampire survivor are getting it pretty right in my opinion. Just have the chance to get ridiculously powerful, but take a bunch of tries. Then add in Hades way of not ending the story with your death and failure, the nemesis system which is sadly patented and you'd have a fairly ideal game where some things will inevitably kill you, but you will get better and the small stuff will only get you still, if you are not paying attention.
If Larian simply releases an honest to god Addon to BG3 like they used to be in the early 2000s, they're going to break the internet, I think. A complete game that is good with a complete addon that is good... Kinda like Witcher 3 with Blood and Wine, etc.
Stellaris, picked it up again for the first time since 2019 with some new DLC from the last sale. Spent a solid 40 or so hours on it again, but I think I am good for some time now. Maybe in another four years once more.
And then WoW still got kicked out of China. GG Blizzard, GG. God damn Bobby Kotick is a horrible, horrible person. Thinking about dating Bobby Kotick? Don't.
Very much in the same boat. Can't stomach their shitty policies and their garbage CEO aynmore. If MS purged these people after buying, I could finally think about going back to their products. And I don't see that happening without MS. Even with MS it'd be only a tiny chance.
