Nevermind that there are several human rights groups, news organizations, medical responders, international aid etc. that would like to be in Gaza but are being denied entry. This reeks of sending people protesting terrible conditions to suffer in those conditions.

GrymEdm,

I honestly think these people are drunk on outrage politics, and the extreme of “just revenge” is the whole point. They must somehow feel powerful introducing proposals of terrible cruelty.

GrymEdm,

It’s an episode where Picard is conducting the mission to explore as usual when Q shows up and essentially says, “So you think you’re hot shit huh? Prepared for whatever you’re about to stumble into?” Picard philosophizes and argues so Q tosses the Enterprise across the galaxy and into the face of a Borg Cube, which promptly sets about showing Picard et al. exactly how bad things can be out in the galactic wild. I won’t spoil the ending in case you want to watch, but needless to say Picard ends the episode with a new perspective about what awaits in the unexplored galaxy.

GrymEdm,

10/10 take. “The energy beams fired by our enemies’ weapons turn large portions of most people hit to a gas/liquid mist basically instantly. The remainder will be retrieved.”

In the clip the quotes are from, I like how Seven of Nine talks about warp field calibration at a party and the hologram of Captain Janeway responds, “How interesting!” and starts enthusiastically going over technical details. Apparently in the future AI has a “let’s just roll with it” attitude. It reminds me of the “Yes, and…” rule of improv comedy.

“Number One, you claim to have the bridge. Do you feel in charge?”

Found Gowron’s quote about the Klingon Civil War and left out “Klingon” to make it work.

GrymEdm,

It’s basically a rite of passage! I mean, we work with -antimatter-. The stuff that blows up the instant it touches anything we or the ship is made of. It’s so fast it doesn’t even hurt! We all have stories about our first reconstruction.

Laughed at the takedown, great production too. Edit: and now I have the literally gibberish chorus stuck in my head.

That, and Riker is definitely on the list of TNG crew members who would think of trying “direct negotiations” like Butthead.

GrymEdm,

TIL. That “Number One, I order you” joke is on point.

GrymEdm,

I’ve purchased a fan for white noise and it works like a charm almost all the time :) I got used to having it going within a single night and now it seems to be a signal to my brain that it’s bedtime.

I think it’s from anecdotes about eating large amounts of Taco Bell-grade beef after late nights out when one’s “gastrointestinal integrity” would be suspect regardless. Edit: In 2008, Taco Bell had a “Why Pay More?” menu that featured $0.79-0.99 items. If you’re paying 99 cents for chili con carne or a 5-layer burrito at 2 am you’re rolling some dice.

Home-cooked or restaurant Mexican food, on the other hand, is tied with Vietnamese for my favorite cuisines ever.

GrymEdm,

The trouble with Tribblacos is you never get just one.

GrymEdm,

That’s the face of a man who believes in unpaid labor.
