Kaijobu,

Must be due to the epic prison which they enforce as epic invested in its development (which is in their rights, but I really do not like due to how they achieved this in the long time since their exclusivity buyouts).

Kaijobu,

That’s the way to go into the future.

Kaijobu,

Something like !upliftingnews (is this the correct syntax?) ?

Kaijobu,

More VR games are welcome… however, limiting an already small market by platform exclusivity on Meta Quest really doesn’t seem to be a great idea. I’m really sad about this.

Kaijobu, (edited )

I am so hyped for this title. I really dig its style and theme. Sadly it also has those pre order exclusive rewards, but meh, I can ignore it. 2024.10.11, I’ll be ready!

Kaijobu,

Anno 1800 is a really great game by Ubisoft.

I am missing an equivalent community to “fuck epic”. With all the relevant information of why this service is still not a good idea to follow, even by grabbing their games “for free”.

Kaijobu,

Thank you for your elaborate opinion.

May I offer you a reading recommendation to form an informed opinion? I edited the comment with a link. Maybe it might just humor you.

Kaijobu,

We could have tried to discuss our differing views on that topic, but I will not force you.

Kaijobu,

Thank you for your comment! You bring up many arguments regarding their stats I would have added, too, especially that it does cost them per claimed free game.

In my opinion though:

They will use these numbers of higher purchases towards shareholders and publishers. We can see their thought process: e.g. WB Suicide Squad - a game as a service squad loot shooter might potentially bring in a lot of money in the long run, so stop developing singleplayer, go for the player number.

Publishers with their IPs of games might get approached by Tim/Epic, that they should exclusively sell their games on their platform as they have so many active users per month, purchases of this and that high number, with currently x million registered accounts and growing, creating an increased player/customer commitment. And as a player’s library grows, their reluctance to commit to this platform decreases. Resulting in more money for the publishers if they follow Epics road, at least in a predicted long run.

They still have their budget to invest in the long term growth by offering free games and buying exclusitivity of third party titles (in the past), more and more though their own published or development supported titles nowadays (better if I ignore their past behavior).

They also increase their influence by introducing Easy Anti Cheat in more and more titles, which only works due to their reach in the market. This is especially troublesome for Linux players but also for those who do not trust Epic’s scanning procedure on ones tasks, processes, services and files (when we keep in mind how they scanned certain files in folders in the past).

If you should delete your account or not, I cannot say. Data can be interpreted in many ways, they can be read positively by highlighting certain aspects while neglecting others. The same, of course, the other way around.

I have not used my epic account for many years since their Metro bait and switch action, but still keep it as I still have the developer account from previous projects on the UE4. If I had to interpret the data of my account, I have it since a long time, but am no active user, reducing their commitment percentage of active engaging users with their storefront. And I can only hope the attrition rate increases so their store won’t become so attractive to publishers for future titles, reducing the chance of further (time) exclusive games.

Kaijobu,

The last times I checked, probably a year ago, for Monster Hunter World, this didn’t work as it only supported 1.x, but your comment made it seem like it can be swapped by a modern implementation. Is this really the case for MHW nowadays? That would be amazing!

Kaijobu,

As we do not have a community on Lemmy that I know of, here a complete explanation of their service, their misdoings and more. This is pretty in-depth with references to other postings as well as articles and sources.

Kaijobu,

I think a better term would be pay to progress. However, it still is quite close to being pay to win, just not competitively in the direct sense.

Kaijobu,

Not if they continue with Enigma DRM.

Kaijobu,

It’s about the statistics from this post. And these only consider the steam players. :)

Palworld Becomes the 7th Game Ever to Reach 1 Million Concurrent Players on Steam (www.githyp.com)

“Palworld is now one of only seven games that have seen over 1 million concurrent players on Steam – the others include: PUBG (3.2 mil), Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (1.8 mil), Counter-Strike 2 (1.4 mil), Lost Ark (1.3 mil), Dota 2 (1.2 mil), and Cyberpunk 2077 (1 mil).”

Kaijobu,

Whenever I read this title, I wish for a spiritual successor with modernized graphics and animations as well as the same story depth. It was a damn near perfect game and I adored the merging process of monsters for their spells and optics. More of that, please! I loved the various weapon effects, the taming melodies… such a beautiful game.

Kaijobu,

A court room with stale air and only him with his mask on. Surely, what could go wrong? I see no risks at all.

Just let him join remotely. What is the big deal here?

Kaijobu,

It historically stands for computer RPG. Because back in the days of the first role playing games transferred to computers calculating the dice roles, damages and other attributes. It was the distinction to tabletop games. Nowadays there are so many RPGs that I find the distinction lacking. The better term now would be classic RPG, because there are many computer action adventure RPGs, whereas the tabletop approach digitalised, like bg3, RPGs refer to the initial or, in better terms, classical RPGs.

In game science studies it is taught as classic RPG, in contrast to the more “modern” RPGs like Mass Effect or The Witcher.

Kaijobu,

Oh my god! I adored Jade Cocoon! I need another dark, exciting, hopeful, sad story driven monster merging game like Jade Cocoon! Alone the catching mechanic with the various music being played to calm the souls of the beasts … Oh man, I already forgot I need a game like this, now I feel lost again. Unsure of how to fill this void.

This game however seems to use merging more like the fusion games of Yu-Gi-Oh or Persona. In Jade Cocoon I enjoyed the transferring of body parts, shape and colour of each creature. It made it more personal.

Kaijobu,

It takes quite a lot of time to repeat all the wrong doings of Epic and it’s CEO Tim.

Thus, I can only relay to the collected information of bad old Reddit, if you want to (I’m intentionally not linking, you can search it up easily). r/fuckepic has a lot of collected information on their side page.

In short, biggest issue for me exclusivity contracts with games advertised on Steam, then as a bait and switch removed from the store page and their physical copies getting a sticker on top of the Steam logo, so a last minute deal, for Metro Exodus. And then they continued their exclusivity hunt for games, they didn’t even helped to develop. Nothing against self-made or published games to be limited time exclusive in my perspective, but not second hand bought (out).

The other about their CEO, r/timcritizisestim He’s… a douche. Using kids with the free games to bait them to his store, using them against Apple’s store rules like a little army… he is a bad person with too much money and luck to have build the Epic engine with Fortnite…

Kaijobu,

I could recommend you beyerdynamics MMX 300, however the price might be the turning point for you. But getting them in a good B-sale is totally worth it in my opinion.

Edit: You can combine them with an Equalizer Software by downloading the wave file for the MMX 300 and applying it. I forget the name though. Something Something APO? They have a GitHub page if I am not mistaken.
