SuperSpruce,

On storage, the markup is about 2000%.

And on RAM if we compare to DDR5 (not totally fair because of how Apple’s unified memory works), it’s about 800% marked up.

SuperSpruce,

I’ve been having playable framerates but they’re not improving. On a 10k city I get about 45fps average but I frequently experience frame drops which definitely make it less enjoyable to play the game. My specs are Ryzen 9 5900HX, RX6800M, 32GB RAM

SuperSpruce,

What I’m noticing is that the first game had 2015 graphics and on a medium to large city runs at cinematic framerates (20-30fps). On Cities 2 the graphics are a mishmash of 2010 and 2025 graphics that run somewhat poorly, but also stutter a lot. On my 10k city I’m getting 45fps average with low-medium settings with the recommended changes to improve performance, but large lag spikes are frequent.

SuperSpruce,

I have a crazy idea for Epic. Instead of paying a fortune for exclusives, leverage the lower 12% cut and have game publishers sell for less (so that the publisher makes the same amount on Steam and Epic)

SuperSpruce,

So why can’t they sell their game for $56 on Epic and $70 on Steam? They’d make about the same money per sale on each?

SuperSpruce,

There’s no way that can be legal. I generally support Valve but that is monopolistic as hell.

SuperSpruce,

But price disparities already exist in other places sometimes. Like YT premium using the App store (due to the 30% cut) and everywhere else.

SuperSpruce,

Factorio

Cities Skylines

Antimatter Dimensions (this one led to the growth of my YouTube channel)

SuperSpruce,

I’d much rather pay one time purchases than a subscription, because then it feels like I’m just renting instead of buying.

And an “EOL” game isn’t necessarily bad because now modders can mod the game without worrying about updates breaking things, unless the game goes truly “EOL” by removing aspects of the game or worse, the game itself.

SuperSpruce,

Why the hell would they add the DRM after release when the game is already cracked before the DRM was added? I can never understand this logic.

SuperSpruce,

So a game with a harmless in-game poker minigame with worthless chips are strictly adult only, but not games with real money loot boxes specifically designed to addict you and take your money?

SuperSpruce,

Never heard of the sidestore, but it seems so cool! This gets me closer to switching to iPhones than any of Apple’s events do. If the sidestore has a real file manager and local music player, and possibly even Firefox+uBlock origin, I would seriously consider switching to iPhone.

SuperSpruce,

If the EU does that and Apple follows through in America (doubtful), Apple will most likely have my money. I’d love to have the good parts of iPhones but I can’t stand how locked down it currently is.

SuperSpruce,

The native file manager kinda sucks. It’s clunky and doesn’t have many features. On the other hand, FX on Android is super fast and feature rich. So much better than the stock Android file manager.

SuperSpruce,

Because there actually are some desirable features only on iPhones. iMessage is the big one, but also many app developers–and college students around me!!!–treat Android users as 2nd class citizens; also I want to degoogle myself a bit. I’m also afraid of the direction Android is going in right now.

However, iPhones currently have so many undesirable “features” that I’ll never switch at the moment. The big ones are no sideloading, crappy file manager, no Firefox+uBlock origin, and no local music player. And the 2000% storage markups on iPhones are atrocious.

SuperSpruce,

Seriously, people care about this a lot more than me. And I currently prefer Android, unlike 90% of people in my age group.

SuperSpruce,

iMessage is how so many people communicate around me. It’s a lot more than just blue bubbles. It’s games, SharePlay, AirDrop (this is a huge one), and much more. Countless times, I’ve wanted to play some kind of iMessage game with a group of other people, but I have an Android so I can’t.

Okay the 2nd point is pretty moot actually. The only thing I can think of is Snapchat dark mode but that’s one feature on a proprietary social platform countless open source apps.

I really wish I could run away from the megacorps, but they dominate the market so I can’t. And these days I hate Google much more than Apple.

SuperSpruce,

I hate the dumbed down battling system. Why can’t CP be a function of level and stats found in a regular pokemon game instead of one number to rule them all, and have the battles be like the mainline games?

What type of game do you want to play that doesn't really exist?

Have you ever played a game and wondered what if you could do something that it doesn’t really allow you to do, for example being able to move around blocks in Minecraft fluidly instead of in sectors, edit the world in Hogwarts legacy with spells, be able to fly in a world like Elden Ring or Elder Scrolls with epic sky...

SuperSpruce,

Pokemon GO hit it uses the real Pokemon battling mechanics in all battles (including wild encounters) instead of the dumbed down system currently in use. Catching and even monetization can remain the same.
