The only thing I could find on West saying about his “plan” for Ukraine is “I would pull back on the U.S. military support.” And call for a ceasefire, all while calling himself a “jazzman of American politics” and making sure everyone recognizes the historical context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He specifically mentioned Alexander the Great and the Cuban missle crises.

So, withdrawaling US support while calling for an immediate ceasefire isn’t what you would call “Ukraine should give up.”… I disagree. How do you characterize west’s position?

There’s nothing that I can say to disprove those points. I do have to say that Bernie gaining as much popularity as he did let’s me see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m pushing 40, always been very left. 1st primary I voted for Dennis Kucinich. Seeing someone with the same talking points and advocate for, generally, the same overall policy agenda get as much mainstream traction as Bernie has does inspire some optimism. Voter turnout in the primaries is so huge, I would also like to see the Dems ditch the EC model for their primaries as well. Biden got elected on the backs of Southern black votes (holdover good will from him being Obamas VP) and that caused him to win deep red states that he would never win in the general. Though I’m hoping Georgia turning blue wasn’t an anomaly.

100% this is why I’m hoping for community service. Done in a very public facing way. Putting a near 80 year old on jail for a first time offense would show bias. However, him show contempt for the justice system and his instance of making a spectacle of the entire process should be a major consideration. Have him, legit, in a reflective vest picking up trash, would be considered a light sentence if you consider the range of punishments. It would definitely, attempt, to force some agenda of teaching humbleness. Hearing his complaints, or his supporters, saying that he’s too old for that type of work would take so much wind out of the sails out of old Joe narrative.

Maybe I’m just rationalizing for my popcorn motives though lol

I started on Jeroba and switched to Connect. I like the UI much, much better. It does seem a little slower though and it crashes everyone in a while. Generally happy with connect though.

Julan Du and Chenggang Xu analyzed the Chinese model in a 2005 paper to assess whether it represents a type of market socialism or capitalism. They concluded that China’s contemporary economic system represents a form of capitalism rather than market socialism because: (1) financial markets exist which permit private share ownership—a feature absent in the economic literature on market socialism; and (2) state profits are retained by enterprises rather than being distributed among the population in a social dividend or similar scheme, which are central features in most models of market socialism. Du and Xu concluded that China is not a market socialist economy, but an unstable form of capitalism.[18]

That’s from a Wikipedia. I’m not going to pretend to have a strong grasp on it but it’s state owned enterprises that function, essentially, as private (separate from government). That combined with production for profit > production for use makes it way more in the capitalist spectrum compared to Marxists ideology. Especially considering their human rights record.
