Texas congressman won’t stop wearing combat Infantryman Badge that was revoked (www.military.com)

More than a month after a news report revealed that the Combat Infantryman Badge Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, wears on his lapel was revoked since he was never eligible for the award to begin with, the congressman refuses to take the pin off....

figaro,

But if it were, we would be ready to throw him under the bus in a heartbeat. Bad behavior is bad behavior. We’re not in a cult

figaro,

Could you clarify what you mean by snake oil?

figaro,

When you say “believe in Android” what do you mean?

figaro,

I love how delusional people here are.

Joking lol but serious that it will never happen. Windows has waaay too much of a monopoly for that to never happen.

Like wtf, am I supposed to tell my mom to use the terminal to download ms word? Oh wait sorry you can use libre office! It’s the same but… Well it looks different. And isn’t as functional.

figaro,

Wow that sounds like so much fun.

/S

For real, people should put disclaimers when recommending software like this. “I really like their vision, but installer beware! It is not ready for noobs! Also calling and texting just doesn’t work! Lol good luck!”

figaro,

That last take comes off as weird, ngl. Just let people do what they want.

figaro,

Doubtful

figaro,

It will be a tug of war between the right and the left, leaning slightly right on economic issues pretty much forever.

America is basically run by large corporations. I don’t see them just willingly changing course. We will get small wins here and there, but nothing drastic for a long time.

Edit - the spice must flow

figaro,

Not gonna happen, windows probably still has 3.0 code deep beneath the tape holding things together now

figaro,

As a former English teacher, I can say that I have made some rash decisions in my life

figaro,

Android devices have this function natively built in

figaro,

I think it’s called Nearby Share. If you click “share” on a particular file, the option to share to a nearby device appears using Nearby Share.

figaro,

Oh got it 👍🏻

figaro,

So I know everyone will hate this suggestion, but the most battery efficient and privacy-oriented option is to use Google maps location sharing. Google already has your location through Google Play services, and uses that to update it. It is essentially real time, and you don’t need to give your info over to a random new company.

Unless you have fully de-googled, this is probably the best and easiest option.

figaro,

Dude life360 is terrible. They just got caught selling location data to 3rd parties too I think? That on top of the battery drain of your phone constantly polling gps. It’s all bad.

figaro,

Journey is a spiritual journey for me. I try to play it once every couple of years to remind me of the impermanence of life and existence.

Fuck the robot snakes, I want a long scarf.

figaro,

Why are you protecting them? Drop the fucking names lol. I literally do not understand.

figaro,

\ (•◡•) / thanks yo

figaro,

Believe me, you don’t want Utah either. Mormons are nice but you have to deal with rogue polygamist communities, hyper conservatives, and the fact that the state is essentially run by the church.

figaro,

I guess so, but ultimately if I don’t notice them it’s fine. I restart my Mac maybe once a month for updates, that’s about all I functionally need to do.

figaro,

My m1 MacBook Air is hands down the most incredible laptop I’ve ever owned. I’ve had it for 3ish years now and it just doesn’t fucking stop. Battery life is still amazing and runs just as fast as it did day 1.

I’ve NEVER had that experience with any Intel/PC laptop, ever. Honestly I’m never going back.

figaro,

I want one for VR chat. Definitely a place I want to experience.

figaro,

Was Twitter ever really a left leaning platform in the first place? It pretty much always felt like it was filled with Russian bots and maga shit.

So I guess good job Musk for burning down a shit website? Lol

As a side note, Mastodon is legitimately fantastic. The community there is genuinely nice.
