Yeah this sucks but:

  • if you buy it you’re giving Ubisoft money
  • you should emulate the gamecube version if you don’t want to set it up
  • if you want to tinker pirate the gog release

Giving Ubisoft money is not a good reason just to have the game and playtime tracked on your Steam account.

This is not unexpected, Sony games are movie games and they prioritize cinematics over anything else and graphics for the most part have peaked without going full path tracing. Shame they have no good writers at any of their studios anymore.

PC gamers all have different machines, which must make optimization a nightmare.

DirectX, Vulkan and OpenGL do all of the talking to the hardware, those have been around for a very long time. The imaginary issue of ‘you have to target millions of configurations’ is simply not true.

If you just have an iPhone and nothing else and treat it like a smart phone it is very easy to migrate over to android and vice versa. If you get invested in the apple ecosystem it might be hard to leave or use some other products that are gimped without an iPhone

valve didn’t want adult games on their platform, shortly afterwards gog has adult game sale, valve goes back on their stance and allows adult games from then on forward (that get past their approval process, non-adult games still get denied. rip dungeon travelers 2).

Alsamixer has a curses ui and can be used, set the audio to the desired level and enter ‘sudo alsactl store’ to save your audio levels. This affects all your input and outputs so adjust your speakers volume there then save it along with your mic.
