mfat,

Does it support socks proxy for individual web apps?

A graphical SSH client similar to Termius

A gui for a tunneling solution such as rathole or FRP.

mfat,

I want something with: a built-in key manager (with optional cross-device sync) SSH tunneling support (dynamic, remote and reverse) snippets simple, beautiful UI.

I’m sure many users will like it.

Shotcut an amazing video editor.

Openwrt Routers can be fun too!

mfat,

Whoops I thought Jerboa was smart enough to add those :) thank you!

mfat,

Doesn’t Jellyfin fetch missing metadata automatically?

mfat,

I don’t remember tbh. I installed it a couple of years ago but used it for the first only recently.

mfat,

Are yiu sure you’re running Wayland and not X11?

Fedora took away one of my biggest hobbies namely distro hopping. It’s so good i haven’t installed another Linux for 4+ years. Before fedora I would never use a distro for more than a couple of months. It’s beautiful, it’s solid and it’s vanilla. Everything is shipped as the original developer intended.

mfat, (edited )

I never use “derivative” distros. I don’t want to run into weird problems and spend hours troubleshooting only to find out they have changed some config file.

mfat,

Fedora Workstation

mfat,

I’ve been using KDE on Fedora for work for a few years now. Several system upgrades staeting from Fedora 36. Recently upgraded to plasma 6 and fedora 40. It is rock solid and very reliable.

And i do use alot of widgets, 3rd party apps, flatpaks, etc.

mfat,

It’s a solid release. The only thing that broke were some plasma widgets not yet available for KDE 6.

mfat,

There is a threshold parameter you can tweak

mfat,

Thanks. I’ve been able lenovo’s charging threshold feature and it won’t charge past 60%.

Extracted archive timestamp

There is a very annoying problem with archive extraction on Linux. I always sort my files by “last modified” and want my latest files and folders on top in any file manager. When I download and extract an archive, the extracted folder is placed toward the middle or bottom of the list apparently because the original...

mfat,

On the contrary, I right mouse click the archive in my filemanager Dolphin and use the Extract > Extract here menu entry. This will extract the files and the sub directories have new last modified dates, but not the files. This does not need any manual folder creation by you.

Are you sure? I just tried this and the extracted folder is not on top.

How do we know if there aren't a bunch of more undetected backdoors?

I have been thinking about self-hosting my personal photos on my linux server. After the recent backdoor was detected I’m more hesitant to do so especially because i’m no security expert and don’t have the time and knowledge to audit my server. All I’ve done so far is disabling password logins and changing the ssh port....

mfat,

I think you can use Tailscale Funnels for that.

mfat,

My ssh auth logs show a lot of login attempts from chinese IPs. That prompted me to install Fail2Ban…

mfat,

There are several known instaces of crypto exchages getting hacked.

mfat,

Very good points. Call me paranoid but i always fear I might fail to notice the symptoms of something nasty going on. I wish linux had a built-in, easy-to-use auditing/alerting system. I know this can be achived by experts but others have no idea what’s actually going on on their machines.

mfat,

Would be great if we could see a benchmark vs auto-cpufreq.

mfat,

It matters since a top 3 distro will identify with KDE Plasma desktop. This is not very common.

mfat,

GNOME is grared toward dev people who need something almost as minimal as a wm. KDE is better suited for average users.

mfat,

Donno why i was downvoted. I’ve been an avid KDE fan for years.

mfat,

My laptop has Intel UHD graphics. Things are slightly better since I enabled TLP.

mfat,

I use KDE only. I’ll surely give this a try thank you.

mfat,

I’ve never had a laptop that hibernates correctly with Linux. Is it something I can achieve with more research or some laptops won’t hibernate anyway? I routinely have that shitty experience when I pick up my laptop to see it has no juice left although I didn’t use it and it was apparently asleep.

mfat, (edited )

Just checked out its github page. seems very interesting

mfat,

That’s very interesting. I thought that intel Wi-Fi cards can’t do AP mode anywhere. I had no luck on ubuntu and openwrt. Didn’t know Windows could help. I’ll try to build a Windows VM with passthrough.

mfat,

Awesome, thanks much.
