Gen Z influencers who supported Biden in 2020 turn against him (www.washingtonpost.com)

“I have noticed that there have been a lot more events with creators, but the creators that are getting invited are the creators who are very pro Biden and just parroting talking points or sharing photo ops of them smiling with the President. Not the creators who have been critical,” said Kahlil Greene, a history content...

unmagical,

Are we sure it’s not Biden that turned against them?

unmagical,

By allowing more people access to your games, more people have access to your games to purchase … with money … that goes to you and helps your business’s bottom line.

unmagical,

SCOTUS nominations are probably the only thing gonna make me actually vote for Biden. He’s done some stuff that was good, sure, but no where near what I would have liked to see him accomplish, and his approach to the ongoing genocide is inexcusable, but I can’t let that mean I help Trump decide the court layouts for the rest of my life by staying home.

unmagical,

A terrifically hard audience to serve given the variety of incompatible configurations.

If your game doesn’t work with my fully functional operating system (while others do), isn’t it literally your game that’s “incompatible?”

Tuberville’s Stupid Response to Trump Conviction: “This is a War” (newrepublic.com)

“People in our caucus… to me, they’re not really taking this as serious as we should,” Tuberville said. “American people need to wake up. This is a war; this is a war on our Constitutional rights, our constitutional republic. This is not as much about Donald Trump as it is about the people in this country.”...

unmagical,

I didn’t realize I had a constitutional right to commit fraud.

unmagical,

And he’s able to do so because Biden keeps providing the means.

unmagical,

Trump (in his first term) lost the popular vote.

unmagical,

No no no, it just means you can’t bring out this card as a result of a spell with more than 5 lines of text.

unmagical,

Sanctum 2 is a bit older, but it holds up as a solid FPS tower defense hybrid. It’s often on sale for around $4. The dlc is also well worth it, doubling the base game content.

Battle Bit Remastered

Children of Morta

Risk of Rain 2

Crab Champions

Echo

Gunfire Reborn

unmagical,

Maybe “Black Ice” or “Remember Me?”

unmagical,

The fuck you mean “how did this happen?”

Steam didn’t allow adult games then they did. So now there’s adult games.

Brackeys is back, and will now make tutorials on Godot (www.youtube.com)

This is exciting news for every aspiring game developer! Brackeys, a popular YouTuber who used to make in-depth and very user-friendly tutorials about Unity, is returning after a long hiatus, and will now create tutorials on Godot (for those who don’t know, it’s a FOSS game engine, but I’m pretty sure that, if you have an...

unmagical,

Give it a go! It’s like 100MB and you just extract the engine from a zip.

What're some of the dumbest things you've done to yourself in Linux?

I’m working on a some materials for a class wherein I’ll be teaching some young, wide-eyed Windows nerds about Linux and we’re including a section we’re calling “foot guns”. Basically it’s ways you might shoot yourself in the foot while meddling with your newfound Linux powers....

unmagical, (edited )

Deleting my grub config instead of editing it. Fortunately that’s pretty easy to recover from, just annoying.

F’ed up installing graphics driver and had to reset everything from another TTY, also just annoying.

Chose the wrong permissions or path on a chmod call and locked out a big party of the system. I think that was during a setup though, so I just started from scratch again.

unmagical,

Hell, we only have to do it once per billionaire. Since they only got to that point through their own self sufficient blood sweat and toil they’ll have no problems doing it again and better with all the experience they’ve learned along the way!

unmagical,

He also passed legislation that made it legal to kill protestors with your vehicle if they were in the road.

I really don’t think that /s is warranted that’s literally his stance on the matter.

unmagical,

Maybe they shouldn’t provoke everyone else in the region then.

Israel bombed an Iranian Embassy–and Iran is just expected to shrug it off? No we can’t possibly think of cutting military support to the country literally using their military to commit a genocide and attack it’s neighbors. Its neighbors might fight back and that would be bad!

Israel is behaving like the school yard bully whose “Dad is a lawyer!” except in this case their dad is also an enabler.

unmagical,

I used Ubuntu until PAE became required and then switched to either Puppy or DSL (tried them both, honestly don’t remember which I stuck with). Eventually got a new computer and used Fedora and Arch (btw) for years. I’ve recently switched to Debian on a machine I just don’t wanna be arsed with worrying about breaking.

unmagical,

I’m in the process of buying my first house, and I’m pretty sure I’m putting more down than my parents paid for their whole first home.

unmagical,

So our choices are:

  • Man that wants to bomb Palestine into the ground, but has made marginal progress in helping secure more jobs domestically and has aided millions of people suffering from oppressive student loan dept
  • Man who has publicly stated he wants to be a dictator, who has previously attempted a self coup, who wants to jail his political enemies, and is threatening a bloodbath if he loses–oh and he also wants to bomb Palestine into the ground.
  • Man who is your conspiracy theorist uncle–who also wants to bomb Palestine into the ground.

It’s really crazy that it’s anywhere near a toss up.

Damn shame there isn’t a “don’t bomb Palestine into the ground candidate.”

unmagical,

I’m not sure what you’re upset about in my comment.

All of the candidates have faults, but I do have a strong preference for one and one of them is an objectively better candidate on basically all issues (including the issue that all candidates share the wrong stance on).

And it very much is a toss up. 2 candidates in particular are trading leading positions on different polls. There’s probably gonna be less than half of eligible voters actually voting. And when they do, one candidate will almost definitely win the popular vote. And when they do it will once again be up to our antiquated electoral system to determine which of the candidates actually gets the seat. It’s not 1932, Trump very well could win and that’s bad.

If you think my critiques of Trump are the same as my recognition of success for Biden and that I’m somehow “both-sides-ing” I’m really not sure how to help you.

unmagical,

Aren’t there multiple genocides going on right now?

unmagical,

Gotta add your potential explosive to the suicide of other potential explosives that the people were forced to stand next too!

unmagical,

You might want to look into KDE connect. I don’t use it myself, but it might be what you’re looking for.

unmagical,

How so? I don’t think that is referring to an SMS recipient, just the sender’s computer and phone each running Connect need to be on the same network.

unmagical,

They’re harvesting chunks that have already broken off the glacier and are sending it back in ships that would otherwise have sailed back empty.

unmagical,

I don’t understand why these people can’t see the cameras are there to protect everyone - including drivers.

Maybe because cameras can’t protect anyone. They gather evidence for incrimination, not prevention.

Looking for a good tablet PC distro

I just inherited a handful of Samsung Series 7 Slate PCs that I’d like to rebuild to be as “tablet-like” as possible for a few non-technical friends and family. They power up but arrived with non-functional Windows 7 installs. They’re Intel Core i5s with 4G RAM and 128G SSDs, so they should run pretty well under any...

unmagical,

I have a tablet running fedora with gnome. While it works for me I cannot recommend it at all for something I’d give to someone else.

On the surface gnome looks useable as a mobile DE, but the reality is that it requires several gnome extensions to get it in a useable state (I’m talking having a reliable way to copy and paste). Those extensions are not necessarily updated at the same cadence as gnome or fedora so my ability to consistently use the device in a predictable manner is gone if I install the latest updates when available (and after years of training users to install updates when available someone you give the tablet too will click the update pop-up).

Regarding drivers, the only thing that doesn’t work on mine is the camera. I’d recommend trying out a few choices on a live boot and seeing just how much effort you have to make it useable.

unmagical,

But you released a paid game without performance to your standards? Weird.

unmagical,

X (formerly Twitter; pronounced “ten”) seems to have no floor in how low they’ll go.

unmagical,

Officially, probably not. But it would get under Elongated Muskrat’s skin so much if “ten” gained popularity over the “ex”.com he has been trying (and failing) his whole life to popularize.
