Because neutrons are uncharged, they are more penetrating than alpha radiation or beta radiation. In some cases they are more penetrating than gamma radiation, which is impeded in materials of high atomic number.
I did not know that neutrons could penetrate farther than gamma rays by their virtue of being neutral. Also never heard gamma rays be called y-rays. Wonder what the z-rays will be if we ever name any.
In an 1895 paper, Röntgen used “X” to label an unknown type of radiation. And the name stuck, despite his later objections. (Some languages do call them Röntgen rays.)
Did not know about the neutrons either as well as gamma rays having the same penetration as x-rays. Was always taught gamma radiation is insta toast no matter what kind of protection.
I had a relative tell me that the problem with trans and homosexuality is that it’s a mental illness. Instead of fighting those ideas, my response was “so what?” I decided to follow that line of argument to its conclusion.
Even if it were a mental illness, it would be one that causes no harm. I asked that relative what they would do if they found out they had a mental illness, and that the only thing that treatment would accomplish would be to make them no longer love their spouse. Of course they’d refuse treatment and go on loving who they love.
That should be the end of the conversation. If someone is doing something that harms nobody, why should they be forced to change who they are to please someone unaffected by the outcome?
If only running more flashlight apps made the flashlight brighter and brighter.
“I’ve used the entire capacity of my phone to simulate the light of the sun. Please be sure to wear sunglasses and apply sunscreen before I turn it on.”
To be fair, there was text on the screen saying “It looks like they had a data breach at some point” - which is still not enough. They shouldn’t have promoted LinuxFx at all.
I think this was one of the first videos since their big break where I noticed poor quality. His other content after the restructuring been much better but this felt poorly researched or probably just trying to find funny Linux distros to show the audience and not for them to be daily drivers
Pretty sure they explicitly stated that it was just for entertainment. Who would come out of that video genuinely thinking that they recommended you to daily drive a Justin Bieber distro?
