Caribbean leaders met in special session in Jamaica and came up with this one plan. Haiti has not strategic revelance for the US, except its a neighbor. Quit trying to equate things that happened in the bad old 60s. It’s boring.
Maybe a little late and out of touch with the reality of the current situation… But also maybe it has relevance to mean something and speed up regional peace.

The US previously invaded Haiti in 1915, then intercedes in 1994, after a miltary coup in 1991, and reinstalls a former President (Aristide). Notably they did nothing to help Haiti when Papa and Baby Doc Duvalier were murdering thousands under their dictatorships.
