    Say more about that

Nintendo was going to take legal action regardless. Get real. Yuzu allowed bypassing the Switch’s security so Nintendo filed a DMCA claim, just like they did when Dolphin got put on Steam. Nintendo is the most litigious company in history. Just ask the developers of Pokemon Uranium, or AM2R, or the C64 port of Super Mario Bros. None of those things impacted Nintendo’s revenue. Why do you think they’d hesitate to sue the developers of an emulator for a console they currently sell games for?

Also what “shady behind the scenes”?

    AVincentInSpace,

    FUCKING HOW?

    AVincentInSpace,

Why on Earth do you think that?

“Ah yes Nintendo is on a suing spree let me draw attention to my emulator”

    AVincentInSpace,

was this meme inspired by real todd howard events

    AVincentInSpace,

Even if it’s true, so what? Just because they’re bastards for the opposite reason doesn’t mean they’re not bastards.

    AVincentInSpace,

I’m curious now, what did the original look like

    AVincentInSpace,

Can you please at least crop out the Reddit watermark?

    AVincentInSpace,

Did you somehow convince KDE to be a tiling window manager? Is that what I’m seeing here?

    AVincentInSpace,

Spoilers on Lemmy work like this:

<span style="color:#323232;">::: spoiler Text next to the arrow
</span><span style="color:#323232;">Text inside of the spoiler
    </span><span style="color:#323232;">
</span><span style="color:#323232;">which can span multiple lines and can contain *formatting*
    </span><span style="color:#323232;">:::
    </span>

    which produces this:

Text next to the arrowText inside of the spoiler which can span multiple lines and can contain formatting

The first word after the three colons must be “spoiler” otherwise it won’t work.

Support for these in mobile apps is somewhat lackluster. Sync for Lemmy did not really change their formatting code at all since they stopped being a Reddit client and virtually none of the Lemmy specific formatting features work. Voyager does not render spoilers at all. They work just fine in Jerboa though, as well as on the web (desktop and mobile browsers).

    AVincentInSpace,

this is why we need anime. you simply don’t get these life lessons anywhere else

    AVincentInSpace,

I’ll be watching your ricing career with interest

    AVincentInSpace,

I want to like Jerboa. I really do. It has support for a lot of features Voyager doesn’t, like Matrix linking in profiles and full fledged CommonMark including spoilers which distressingly few Android clients support properly coughcoughSynccough. But it’s just so irritating to use. The recently added swipe gestures are so sensitive you can’t scroll unless you swipe perfectly straight up and down and there’s that bug with predictive text and deleting the space before a word when you press Backspace at the end instead of deleting the last letter which they still have not fixed.

    AVincentInSpace,

    But…but swipe gestures.

I love that feature and I’m glad Jerboa finally has it. I just wish it was less sensitive.

    AVincentInSpace,

Well excuse me if my son wants to do something worthwhile with his life, like making six figures in software development, instead of dying in the name of oil.

    AVincentInSpace,

DON’T DO IT DON’T FALL FOR IT SHE’S JUST TRYING TO SUCK YOU IN! SHE’S COLLECTING A HAREM OF BOTTOMS AND YOU’RE HER NEXT VICTIM!

@miss_brainfarts is an insidious one. She lures people in by telling them they have rizz when they absolutely don’t, and then, when she’s got them on the hook, she adds them on Matrix and RUTHLESSLY AND MERCILESSLY IS FRIENDS WITH THEM!

SAVE YOURSELF IT’S TOO LATE FOR ME

    ^/j if it wasn’t obvious, she’s a great gal

    AVincentInSpace,

this clearly isn’t SG-1. Anubis isn’t murdering anybody

    AVincentInSpace,

Yo is that a homemade Ferris plushie!?

    AVincentInSpace,

You know. Except his followers, who are primarily young adults.

We shame her because unlike all the other billionaires, she actually cares about her image, and shaming her actually works

    AVincentInSpace,

Hang on a sec, is my Lemmy client wigging out or is this post a cross post of itself?

    AVincentInSpace,

visual indicators are not tied to language, which is constantly in flux.

Core Unix commands have not changed since the 70s my guy. The syntax of modern ls, tar etc are still 1:1 compatible with versions that predate the invention of the concept of a GUI. Go 10 years back in GUI design back to 2014 and see how similar things are to today.

The one exception to this is Powershell, which has the core Unix command names as aliases to the equivalent Powershell commands without any attempt to convert the flags between them. Microsoft really desperately wants to convert *nix programmers and sysadmins back to Windows, and they’re failing spectacularly because no one wants to use a shell where ls -l throws an error.

bash and *nix commands are an absolute immemorable mess.

that sounds like a skill issue.

most romance novelists restrict their romantic pairings to those between two humans, or at least between some human and some living creature (naturally with full human sapience). chuck tingle is not one such coward. in the universe of chuck tingle, the list of things you can fuck includes every physical object in existence, animate or not, as well as most abstract concepts.

all of which have naturally been granted full human sapience.

Chuck Tingle is most famous for his book Pounded In the Butt By My Own Butt and its hit sequel Pounded In the Butt By My Book “Pounded in the Butt By My Own Butt”, as well as the ever-appealing Trans Wizard Harriet Porber series detailing the titular protagonist’s sexual misadventures with a well-muscled parasaurolophus named Snabe, although his other works include I’m Gay For My Living Billionaire Jet Plane, Pounded In The Butt By The Sentient Physical Manifestation Of The Year 2016, Domald Tromp’s Ass is Haunted By the Ghost of His Incriminating Tax Returns, There Is a Polar Vortex In My Butt and He Is Handsome, Pounded In The Butt By My Hugo Award Loss, and Pounded In The Butt By My Ever-Changing Thoughts On The Mystery of Chuck Tingle’s Real Identity.

A complete list of his works can be found here.

The Left: Well I wasn’t before but I am now

    AVincentInSpace,

my furry ass saw “become a dragon” and didn’t even read the rest

    AVincentInSpace,

    I mean… I don’t know how much dragons eat

    AVincentInSpace,

as a born again rustacean I can confirm that you should. there’s an absolute shitton of hype around Rust and almost all of it is true. I could go on for half an hour about fearless concurrency

    AVincentInSpace, (edited )

    I’ve never had a gigantic vibrator in my ass, so I wouldn’t know. ^I^ ^am^ ^open^ ^to^ ^new^ ^experiences,^ ^though.^ But I can tell you this.

Rust is not not an easy language to learn, even for experienced programmers who have little trouble picking up e.g. JavaScript. There’s a lot of new syntax and a few new concepts that other languages don’t have, and you’ll find yourself doing a lot of mental rewiring to get yourself into the “Rust mindset”, but but it is sooooooooooo worth it. It’s such a cool feeling writing a program in two hours that blasts through four million lines of CSV in 50 milliseconds. Every Rust newbie spends their first few weeks wrestling nonstop with the borrow checker, but once you learn the ins and outs, and how to make it work for you, it gives you wings. It’s like the first How To Train Your Dragon movie. It’s an incredible feeling.

    ^Okay,^ ^I’m^ ^exaggerating.^ ^A^ ^little.^ ^Nothing^ ^is^ ^as^ ^cool^ ^as^ ^flying^ ^on^ ^dragonback.^ ^But^ ^DAMN^ ^Rust^ ^is^ ^cool.^
