Qualcomm Aiming For Snapdragon X Elite GPU Support In Linux 6.11 (www.phoronix.com)

A lot of people here seemed excited for these chips. It’ll be very interesting to see the gaming performance as this could bring in an entire new segment of portable devices running Linux if powerful enough to deliver solid battery life and CPU performance.

M500,

It would be great if we could get a steamdeck that runs one of these arm chips.

I wonder if valve is already experimenting with something like this. Maybe another they will have something like box64 too

M500,

Thanks for the recommendation. I was wondering why you recommended SMT4 on 3DS. But I now realize that it is different than persona 4. I guess it is a bit confusing for me still. I think I am more interested in the mainline series. I found an English translation of SMT 1 and 2 for snes.

How different is Persona from SMT?

M500,

I think SMT and Persona being different games in the same universe is what is confusing me. Is one series considered better than the other generally? Is there some thing that makes these two series different from each other in some significant way?

M500,

Thanks! I do not think I’d like Persona, but SMT sounds cool. I like old RPGs, so I am kinda most excited for them.

Do you think people would be okay with 'Recall' if Apple did it?

With the recent WWDC apple made some bold claims about privacy when it comes to so called Apple Intelligence. This makes me wonder if they did something to what Microsoft did with Recall feature, would people be less concerned and to an extend praise their effort?...

M500,

I completely agree. I’ve started to migrate my work stuff to Linux to see if it will work.

I’m not hopeful that it will work, but the dev said I can try to use wine and that is not against their policy to do so and that I works but have to worry about an account ban.

So, let’s hope for the best.

M500,

It was the advertisers and government.

M500,

I live in a region that has decently low YouTube premium pricing. If it’s ads or nothing, I may get a subscription. But I haven’t checked pricing in a while, so maybe it’s gone up too much.

M500,

Sadly that version doesn’t work well on steamdeck.

I think there are work around to get it working, but with my regional pricing it was just like $2, so I just grabbed it.

M500,

Linus tech tips did a video about this where he had his team use other tools. Essentially he was like, it would end up costing him more or the same as it would take his team longer to do the same stuff and relearn.

It might have been a shortsighted video, but you can look it up if you want to.

M500,

So they will stop background checks for jobs?

M500,

What do you mean? That they are based off Ubuntu?

Fallout Series (Why don’t I like it?)

I think my first Bethesda game was Skyrim and I love Skyrim. I’ve played through Skyrim when it first came out I played through it again in the DLC came out. I played through it again on the switch I have since played through it again on PC. I love Skyrim. I played it so many times and I know it’s a meme to keep re-releasing...

M500,

That’s actually a great point and maybe that’s exactly what it is.

I carry 4 guns but only because they use different kinds of ammo. I don’t even think about the kind of gun.

But Skyrim is exciting because each time I play, I do a different build. Stealth, vampire, melee, etc…

M500,

That’s a good point, I think the dreary landscape is really boring and is not a ln environment if want to immerse myself in.

Fallout 76 has nice forests, but that game has its own problems.

M500,

I got pretty addicted to fallout 2 for about a week or 2. That was genuinely a really good game.

I was surprised that you could sleep with someone to get an advantage 😂

M500,

I hardly know/care about the fallout lore. I guess it’s just not a series for me.

I wonder how much more I’d like it if the mechanics where the same but had a different setting/story.

M500,

Yeah? Skyrim has a really interesting landscape. Fallout is mostly empty land, a small hut/gas station or random buildings in the city.

Around level 40 I’m either 1 shotting people or it’s a bullet sponge. And I basically take everything.

Its difficulty curve is kinda weird. It starts pretty hard then takes a quick turn to a walk in the park.

M500,

Yeah, it’s nice that such a big cultural shift happened around this.

M500,

Any point in Minecraft instead of minetest with a mod?

M500,

Some androids have fm radios and it uses the headphone cable as an antenna.

I had a Motorola that did it and I think my workphone has it too.

M500,

That is cool if it worked without them. It’s too bad it’s not more common on phones. There is something cool about receiving radio waves and hearing what’s being said.

But last time I tried it, it was mostly commercials.

M500,

This is one of the reasons I haven’t bought Diablo 4. The other reason is that they took overwatch away from me.

M500,

Yeah, this.

M500,

Wake up sheeple? Where do you think it came from?!?!?

M500,

It’s honestly a problem for native speakers. So many times headlines make no sense or are extremely misleading.

M500,

For me, apps do not get to notify me unless it’s time sensitive.

The problem is when my food delivery app, or LinkedIn sends me ads when I just want messages.

It’s annoying to not be able to only receive messages.

M500,

Yeah, I needed to have it on for a week for work stuff. And it kept giving me random notifications about news and stuff. I couldn’t figure it out.

M500,

I have a good personality for sales. Like I’m generally pretty talkative and good at making friends with people pretty quickly.

Because of this most jobs I applied for tried to put me in a sales position. The thing is, is that I’m kind of a minimalist and think there is so much crap out there that people buy. Like I just don’t get why people buy certain things.

I’m not judging, but I don’t understand it.

So when I’m asked to sell something, in my heart, I just think. You don’t need any of this crap.

M500,

Who is she?

M500,

I just looked at her filmography. I was just a little too old to know her shows. My younger brother watched some of them. It I was nearing the end of high school at that time.

M500,

I think my wife and I have around 200-400 hours combined. I forget as we’re having played for a while. It was a really big lockdown activity for us as we were not married at the time and she left the city to stay with her parents.

M500,

I think things like the steam deck are their real competition at this point. If it were not for exclusives, why would you get a PlayStation over a pc/steamdeck?

M500,

I think it’s pretty comparable to consoles. They don’t even have a desktop mode and most often they need an update when you take it out of the box.

If you treat it like a console and just buy from the Steam store, then it’s exactly like a console.

Of course if you want to do more, sure there is a little effort, but then it would not be a good comparison to a console.

M500,

Didn’t they release all these games for free at one point?

M500,

Muse - Supermassive black hole with a boner

M500,

This game was weird for me. I genuinely got addicted to it, but got burned out near the end of the second act. I just ended up putting the game down once I got to the third act.

I really loved it, but I had enough of it for the time being.

With that being said I think the game is like 10/10. The voice acting was flawless. The devs were responsive to feedback. I’ll totally day-1 purchase this studies future releases. They earned it.

M500,

I guess this is part of it. Maybe I felt bad about neglecting other things in life to play the game. Some fights take 30+ minutes.

M500,

I don’t want an extravagant life, I just want a stress free life.

Let me have a modest house and enough passive income to pay for utilities and food.

I don’t mind working, but I don’t want to have to stress about not having these things.

M500,

Now you don’t have to make sure everything is stocked neatly. But I think they are bullshit and will not buy from them.

M500,

I think it’s about keeping the inside items labels facing the front and looking clean and maybe better than the actual product looks on the shelves.

Kind of like how a burger looks better on the ads than in real life.

M500,

I got the no -oled like a month before th announced it. But I I’ll wait for a bigger upgrade before buying a new one.

M500,

Battery life isn’t too important to me as I only play at home, so chargers are basically everywhere.

But I’m sure the screen is a big improvement. But I’ll get it when the next steamdeck comes out,

M500,

Yeah the oled is like a mid generation refresh.

M500,

You mean the usb-c cable?

I just use whatever is laying around. It doesn’t bother me.
