Link to the mentioned video. I can’t recommend this enough. It’s really well done.

I never celebrated "over there," but I like you guys (lemmy.world)

Apparently, it’s been a year since the “Great Migration” and my intrepid decision to give the Lemmy fediverse a go. Since dabbing my toes into what has since become a creative outlet and hobby for me, I’ve found a fair few friends and like-minded enthusiasts for our favored franchise. Thank you all for still putting up...

Back atcha from a much less prevalent (on lemmy) sci-fi fandom.

ContextContext for the image requires spoilers from The Witch From Mercury, the latest entry in the long-running Gundam franchise. Also, nested spoilers work. Neat. ::: spoiler Actual spoiler The prologue ends with a 4-year old joyfully singing along to happy birthday with her father, while said father sacrifices himself to allow his wife and child to escape the politico-corporate slaughter of a research lab. This is reprised later in the show when a 17-year old sings happy birthday to a friend over the PA, not knowing that the friend was getting incinerated elsewhere because his usefulness as a clone pilot had ended.

ProselytizingAny Trekkie who isn’t all-in on the ANIME BAD bandwagon, I implore you to give Gundam a try. There are a variety of starting points (as with Trek) and I’ll be more than happy to field any questions. https://slrpnk.net/pictrs/image/67955a42-8eed-4b08-a05e-3b572a8074d7.webp

I definitely did not have Cheerleader Hesh on my internet bingo card for today.

‘E’s pinin’ for the fjords.

MelodiousFunk,

This is exactly it. But it doesn’t fit on a hat or bumper sticker so the details get ignored.

MelodiousFunk,

The best defense against a bad guy with a joint is a good guy with a joint.

I’m not a fan of pot but your logic is flawless.

MelodiousFunk,

Username, uh, checks out.

Love your work btw.

MelodiousFunk,

Joel vs. Mike

Mike is a great writer but Joel by far has the better timing and delivery. Not to derail the thread or anything.

MelodiousFunk,

I haven’t had breakfast yet!

But yeah I’ll take a chicken salad and a gallon of unsweetened iced tea.

MelodiousFunk,

That redshirt looks like he may have to go on a rampage and/or don a fake mustache.

MelodiousFunk,

OT 1 is available on PS. OT 2 is available on Xbox.

MelodiousFunk,

God I’m an idiot

Disagree but I’m way too tapped to get into that argument lol. Ya goofed, the end. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

MelodiousFunk,

Pretty straightforward to me. But grandma gets confused, so we can’t possibly implement it.

/s because it’ll probably be needed

MelodiousFunk,

Most people don’t even understand how our current electoral system works but they don’t seem to be raising a stink about it lol

And many of the ones that have no clue think they understand. But regardless, the entire concept of American Exceptionalism that gets hammered into us from birth means that whatever we have now is “the right way.” Changing things challenges that concept, which many have internalized as part of their core identity. Which… gestures vaguely at the overall political landscape …yeah.

MelodiousFunk,

I used to love Al-generated content when I was a kid. Still do, but I used to, too.

MelodiousFunk,

And then you have to touch the doorknob/push plate/etc. to leave.

MelodiousFunk,

…why?

Judge Cannon expands hearing on Trump’s request to declare special counsel’s appointment invalid | CNN Politics (www.cnn.com)

“The issue, now before Cannon in the Southern District of Florida federal court, is likely to remain in the political debate at least until Cannon holds a hearing on the legal power of the special counsel to prosecute a defendant, on June 21.”

MelodiousFunk,

By all means primary one of those democrats who voted for this out if you can

Big if, in some cases. My aye-affirming rep ran unopposed in this primary, and I can’t remember the last time there was a challenger. For my part I did a write in vote, but seeing as his big brother has a stranglehold on a LOT of business/politics/douchebaggery in the state, I don’t see this changing any time soon.

MelodiousFunk,

Oh. Oh my. This has the potential to backfire spectacularly.

MelodiousFunk,

Definitely ravenous. All I’ve had to eat today was two cheese sticks. And instead of moving 10 feet to retrieve food, I’m posting about it on lemmy.

Majority of Americans wrongly believe US is in recession – and most blame Biden (www.theguardian.com)

MelodiousFunk,

Those lines have been diverging for over a generation. You’ll need a vice grip the size of the Grand Canyon to squeeze hard enough make any real world difference.
