MossyFeathers,

Anyone know if this game is worth playing? I like racing games, I like Lego games, it sounds awesome, but I’m wondering if it’s worth picking up.

Edit: how well does it perform on the steam deck?

The game had a free-to-play weekend a few months ago, and I must say that it was somewhat disappointing, particularly in terms of gameplay, but not “aweful”. I personally find the monetization model repulsive. The game is just barely half a year old, but it already has 3 season passes for $10 each. It remains on my wishlist for whenever it is available as a complete bundle for a few euros, but I definately don’t see me getting it anytime soon.

As far as gameplay goes, I much prefered the Lego Expansion for Forza Horizon 4 back then.

As far as playing it on the steam deck: It played fine I wasn’t able to notice any framedrops, but the fan was spinning up more than I would have expected, given the graphics.

EDIT: If you’re looking for a fun “toy racer”, you might be interested on Hot Wheels Unleashed: store.steampowered.com/sub/730504/It also suffered from a predatory monetization model when it was released, but the GOTY edition is a complete bundle. I’d recommend not getting its sequel (Hot Wheels Unleashed 2), until it too gets the GOTY treatment as a complete bundle.

Zahille7,

I liked Hot Wheels Unleashed, but I realized after playing it on GamePass (when they came out with the GOTY edition a year after it released) that there were tons of cars and such that you can’t get anymore. They also used FOMO and predatory monetization during the game’s run.

It was fun though.

From what I know, this is also one of the few games for which the publisher has removed Denuvo.

Pretty incorrect. Denuvo charges companies a regular subscription fee as long as its present in their game, and most companies don’t want to pay it any longer than necessary, so they strip it out after a few months to a year or so after they’ve made the bulk of their sales. The number of Denuvo games that ever actually get cracked is dwarved by the number where the warez guys just wait for the publisher to remove it.

MomoTimeToDie,

This. A ton of games have it removed eventually. The main purpose is just to keep the game from getting cracked during the initial release phase where they expect the majority of sales and hype.
