I am really confused here. The content itself is actually well researched and good (rare for privacy content), but the symbolism is very obvious here. And from how much I have been in the darknets and underbellies of internet, loli and nazi themes can be an occasional occurrence.

My intent is not to tolerate nazism, but evaluating VPS hosters credibly is extremely rare, as most who do it are affiliate sellouts. I would not give a shit if it was just some modest anime character, but the band…

What do I do?

Edit: well I guess whoever missed seeing this article, bad luck. It has been up for 2 days, and I had no clue about it, and nobody reported it before. Removing it.

“Putting Privacy Focused Free Speech VPS Providers To The Test” if you can search this, you can get to the article. Not going to give a URL.

PowerCrazy,

I dont’ understand the issue here. Is that picture part of some specific VPS’s logo or is it part of the title/theme of the article? I think it’s very poignant, though obviously edgy, if it’s the latter. If your VPS provider isn’t censoring content, then obviously that means Nazism will be able to exist along with militant socialism advocating violence against capitalism. That is kind of the point of the article right? To determine which VPS is actually not going to censor.

Reddfugee42,

I remember learning in middle school that we’re supposed to define acronyms the first time we use them.

echolalia,

There’s a newer article on the website about this person getting booted(?) off Privex because one of their business partners found Privex’s response to this writer objectionable. Here is the other article. From just what this person chose to post, it seems they host loli/shota content (drawings). Uurg.

(I did not do any further research than skim the articles he put on his site).

The research itself is… a nice resource. But… if you thought the image the blog writer chose for his article was a red flag, your instincts were good.

From what I could tell by reading the article and some posts on Disabled’s social media, Privex was pressured by a business partner to kick him out, but they didn’t bend the knee.

Honestly good on them for standing up for their principles.

EunieIsTheBus,

Seriously? A red armband with a white circle and a black symbol on it? Even a dick pick would be a better choice for a company logo

mulcahey,

Yeah WTF is this art, this is NOT the way to do it.

Like, even if you don’t care about antisemitism and genocide…

The Nazis were not great about privacy

scholar,

The Japanese are a bit different when it comes to Nazi imagery, it seems they don’t mean anything by it: they just aren’t taught about the second world war properly.

I would say ‘at least it’s a peace sign’ but, you know, so was the swastika before someone put it in a white circle on a red background and marched into Poland…

there is absolutely nothing that could excuse op for sharing such openly fascist symbolism, the same goes for you and your defense of his actions. the japanese committed unimaginable crimes, just like the germans, e.g. through unit 731. and no, the symbol on the flag is not a “peace sign” but a yr rune used by the ukronazi “misanthropic division” among others. the picture was probably drawn by some pasty ass weeb anyways, a demographic that is for some reason even more fascist than the rest of westerners.

scholar,

Nowhere was I defending op, just commenting on how weird the Japanese are. You’re right about the symbol, I missed that it didn’t have a circle, although the term ‘ukronazi’ is a bit out of place; Ukraine was invaded, not invading. You’re right about weebs, this is what comes of fetishising a culture that isn’t taught about the second world war.

reddeadhead,

I was so close to trying out Flokinet. Glad I found this first.

This was interesting. I know two of the small communist sites I use are hosted on these services so it’s good to know how stable the ground is.

satanicllamaplaza,

I would like to know of these 2 communist sites!

Reminds me of something that has happened in the past. Something about a german painter.

Blemgo,

He was Austrian, BTW.

with the armband as well it seems like kind of a dogwhistle

The “free speech” schtick is enough of a pairing for me to be quite the dog whistle.

It’s less a dogwhistle and more just explicit symbolism, just substituting the swastika so that it’s not a swastika.

Churbleyimyam,

Excellent resource. Thanks for sharing!
