I just got a Q5 Pro myself and use the End key all the time so I reworked the keys and flashed the firmware.
[del] is now [PrnScn]
[pgup] is [del] / [insert] (Using + [fn] key)
[pgdn] is [home] / [pgup]
[home] is [end] / [pgdn]
I’ll have to order new keycaps to match, but so far it’s felt good to use that way and I find that the only time I mispress is when I look at the keyboard.
Greetings festive fellowship of the fediverse, it's the second day of the #SteamNextFest , and there are still many games to discover and discuss, let's share our mutual discoveries of today
@usernamefactory@startrek I don't know if I agree with that premise. I've run into any number of people who became Trek fans in general by starting with Kelvin.
That said, I don't know that breaking the movies into more timelines is a great idea.
And I personally would be skeptical that anything from the proposed movies would ever turn into a TV series. They are really operating in separate spaces right now. And P+ is shedding series faster than they're adding them.
Now that I’ve thought about it some more, it’s unlikely the movies would be making any decisions based off of what’s best for the streaming shows. That would probably be seen as the tail wagging the dog.
That said, I’ve definitely encountered people who enjoyed the films but skipped the shows on account of not knowing where to start and finding the relationship too confusing. It would make sense to pair a successful “early days” movie with an “early days” spinoff series to lure some of that casual audience to streaming.
Looks like another Have I Been Pwned, at least at a glance they’re looking for email addresses, and given that you have your email with them if you’re using this service they kinda do have it already
Needed? Hmm, most folks don't have a fan for it... But for me, I see good improvements on the battery and obviously heat. Keeps it around 120 F (49 C) vs 150F (66 C) + without the fan
What online multiplayer games play well over wifi/higher latency?
I'm thinking turn-based games may work okay in this respect, but which of those might you recommend besides Civ? Also what other types of games work better over wifi/higher latency than you might expect?
I know ideally you'd simply wire up your system to not have to fuss with either, but it's not always an option in some circumstances.
Ah, yeah, playing on official or public servers is definitely gonna be a mixed bag in terms of location. I’ll admit I didn’t really consider that as I’m lucky enough to have a good group of friends with similar gaming interests, and we’re all within about 100 KM of each other. I just ended up building a server and self-hosting out of my home.
To those of you using apps for keeping track of and rating or reviewing beers: any experience with BeerHive? The UI looks nicer and more useful than Untappd, but the user base (and beer database) is still tiny... #craftbeer#BeerHive#Untappd#BeerReview#beersofmastodon@beersofmastodon
A good look at The Verge about the history of false claims made by the Silicon Valley hype machine around self-driving cars:
"In 2015, the then-lead of Google’s self-driving car project Chris Urmson said one of his goals in developing a fully driverless vehicle was to make sure that his 11-year-old son would never need a driver’s license.
"The subtext was that in five years, when Urmson’s son turned 16, self-driving cars would be so ubiquitous, and the technology would be so superior to human driving, that his teenage son would have no need nor desire to learn to drive himself.
"Well, it’s 2024, and Urmson’s son is now 20 years old. Any bets on whether he got that driver’s license?"
Thanks for the links. As I read it, none of that is saying their ratio is below 1:1, just that they switch between vehicles as needed.
And the “what their operators do” link sounds like they are the equivalent of a driving instructor sitting in the passenger seat, giving instructions but not “directly controlling” the vehicle.
Meanwhile, toyota’s driver assist tech from 2023 models will actively jerk the wheel from you and try to steer itself into obstructions on the side of the road you’re trying to pass, if you have to move closer to the double yellow dividing lines to do it. Oh you live in a rural area and more than half the roads don’t even have markings? It will occasionally attempt to steer you into the middle of the two lane road, into oncoming traffic.
We only have a week left until early access starts, what are you guys doing to prepare for it? I've grinded out the carbuncle earring from the mogtome event and plan to do the wondrous tails for that extra exp. Also, both my inventory and glamour dresser are completely full, so I'll need to make some room beforehand.. But most importantly, I still need a fitting glam :D
Thank you ❤️ I’ve played around with Fantasias a little since I finished Endwalker but I always come back to my middie. And my Gyr Abania Plait hairstyle!
"On the next episode of Deep Space Nine! Tensions rise when Miles O'Brien's wife is possessed by a sadistic, emasculating space demon, and he can't tell the difference."
@match
Keiko Jr.: "I don't care that I look like this! You still have obligations to your wife... intimate obligations!"
Miles: "Nope nope nope nope..."
(opens airlock)
Miles: "...nope nope nope whoooooa..."
I'm still kinda new to Linux (started using this year 😅) I already made it to my main OS, even if I still missing some things which I used on Windows, anyway. What I wanted to ask you guys, what recommendations do you have for Linux Mint (Cinnamon)? In terms of security, optimization, (a way to make the UI looking modern ;-;) and privacy? I would be very interested in what you do guys to optimize your Linux setup :) I'm pretty technical, so there is nothing which could overwhelm me (probaly).
@lightnsfw thanks I’ll give that a more thorough look. I’ve been following it but it seems to conflict with the other info I have seen online. For example I am near my wagon, click m, then t, select the tile for a stair, hit e to go down a level, select that tile and then nothing. I built one randomly this way on a cliff but no idea how I did it and it goes no where. I was able to construct a few stairs with the construction menu and a similar workflow but those don’t seem usable either.
to mine a stairwell you need to press m, t then select the square and move up or down however many layers you want to go and then click again, that will designate those blocks to be cut into stairs (it will show the stairs but they will not actually be stairs there until a dwarf does the mining). This will designate a down stair at the top layer you select and an up stair at the bottom with up/down stairs in between. you need to have a dwarf assigned to mining to do this.
You can build them in the construction menu as well but that requires you to have already mined out the area you are building in so it takes longer.
If the above doesn’t work post a screen shot of what yours looks like.
I have a small mini pc as server similar to [1], which has a super nice small form and has an internal slot for a 2.5" ssd disk. Currently I have a 2TB SSD, but it is filling up rapidly.
My options are:
Buy a way more expensive 8TB SSD and replace the existing one
Buy a much cheaper 8TB HDD + enclosure and connect it via USB.
I wonder what are the pros and cons of each option. I like 1 more because the form factor of the homelab is maintained and I don't need to plug yet another thing. OTOH I'm allergic to spending money 😆 so a cheaper solution (about 4 times cheaper) is always welcome.
USB is slow, and will kill the drive if used 24/7. I know it’s hard to expend too much money on a dedicated box for storage but long term you’ll thank yourself for investing.
3TB of data I lost and paying to recover that data? Dammit, hindsight is a bitch
