I’m older so probably not in the demographic. I had a PS4 and liked it. My only complaint was paying for online service. But getting “free” games with the service, okay sure. Lol, you can play some games without PS+. I found this out playing rocket League, yay?
I thought about getting a PS5, but I’m not down with the whole rat race vibe. Paying more then retail seems silly. Resellers, nope. After 3 years the luster of having a new console is over. I’m fine with Steam.
In a message sent to staff when the job cuts were announced, Spencer said the decision was taken after Microsoft and Activision’s leadership teams “set priorities, identified areas of overlap, and ensured that we’re all aligned on the best opportunities for growth”....
Standard stuff every company does after a acquisition. Plus Microsoft just want you to subscribe to it’s game service. I’m not sure this is for everyone.
Nostalgia is part of retrogaming. It’s not required but it help keep interest in a game.
You might want to try different systems and types of retro games. SNES is good but a lot prefer Sega Genesis, TG16, NES even Atari can be interesting. They all have different games. Also MAME is fun for arcade games.
I find that I play sometimes only play new games for months. Indie games is where it’s at for me. Donut DoDo on Steam comes to mind. And if you like that game try some that inspired it.
Flatpaks are great. I install my core os and gui with the base package management. All my user side packages are Flatpaks. I then use Flatseal to lock down and modify Flatpaks as needed. What’s great is running programs like wine without installing a ton of dependencies and then locking the install from parts of my computer I don’t want it to have access to.
Yep we all eat too much. I started counting calories and found out that I was eating twice as much as I should have. It’s not obvious and every place serves big portions.
I have a older desktop running a Nvidia GPU. It’s fast and works pretty well but I’m stuck in X11. I just don’t have the energy to drive into the forums and see why Wayland isn’t working.
I want a Stream Deck mostly because Valve’s support behind supporting the device.
Using Gnome and it’s just not giving me the choice. I think my driver is to old. Found this
Note: NVIDIA drivers prior to version 470 (e.g. nvidia-390xx-dkmsAUR) do not support hardware accelerated Xwayland, causing non-Wayland-native applications to suffer from poor performance in Wayland sessions.
I have a Lenovo Yoga running Windows 10 on a 1TB SSD and at some point will probably have to upgrade it to Windows 11. I use it for school and have to keep Windows on it for now because of what I’m currently doing. I want to start getting into Linux in hopes of making the switch sometime down the line. Is partitioning the disk...
Distro agnostic packages like flatpaks and appimages have become extremely popular over the past few years, yet they seem to get a lot of dirt thrown on them because they are super bloated (since they bring all their dependencies with them)....
The issue with Linux is getting middle management to support it. I’m my experience is based on them laying you off and hiring somebody else. Linux is great but management needs support contracts.
