BigTrout75,

How can this be? All the games I buy on Steam are cheaper than on other platforms. Where are these cheaper games?

Retro Arcade Handheld Super Pocket Announced With Classic Arcade Games Galore | Tech Raptor (techraptor.net)

HyperMegaTech has announced the Super Pocket, a new retro arcade handheld that comes complete with a bunch of classic arcade titles for you to enjoy. It’s available in two editions: the Capcom Edition and the Taito Edition, each with its own unique lineup of games....

BigTrout75,

Just announced? Crazy, I already have the Taito version.

BigTrout75,

Still waiting for that backward compatibility with discs.

BigTrout75,

I’m older so probably not in the demographic. I had a PS4 and liked it. My only complaint was paying for online service. But getting “free” games with the service, okay sure. Lol, you can play some games without PS+. I found this out playing rocket League, yay?

I thought about getting a PS5, but I’m not down with the whole rat race vibe. Paying more then retail seems silly. Resellers, nope. After 3 years the luster of having a new console is over. I’m fine with Steam.

BigTrout75,

This all just seems like Idaho’s brand anymore.

BigTrout75,

The indie scene still seems good though.

BigTrout75,

Microsoft doesn’t need those studios, just the IPs.

BigTrout75,

Like how the NES game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had Pizza Hut ads? Or like how the NES and Genesis have McDonald’s games?

BigTrout75,

What a dumb topic to use for political gain.

BigTrout75,

Article for the sake of having an article.

BigTrout75,

Pretty good! I’m liking kde. It’s very user friendly and you didn’t have to tweak the crap out of it.

Xbox claims mass layoffs were the outcome of a ‘concerning’ lack of industry growth | VGC (www.videogameschronicle.com)

In a message sent to staff when the job cuts were announced, Spencer said the decision was taken after Microsoft and Activision’s leadership teams “set priorities, identified areas of overlap, and ensured that we’re all aligned on the best opportunities for growth”....

BigTrout75,

Standard stuff every company does after a acquisition. Plus Microsoft just want you to subscribe to it’s game service. I’m not sure this is for everyone.

BigTrout75,

Nostalgia is part of retrogaming. It’s not required but it help keep interest in a game.

You might want to try different systems and types of retro games. SNES is good but a lot prefer Sega Genesis, TG16, NES even Atari can be interesting. They all have different games. Also MAME is fun for arcade games.

I find that I play sometimes only play new games for months. Indie games is where it’s at for me. Donut DoDo on Steam comes to mind. And if you like that game try some that inspired it.

At the end of the day, just fun.

BigTrout75,

Everyday is a “OMG did you hear what he said?” day. Almost as if it was planned.

BigTrout75,

Flatpaks are great. I install my core os and gui with the base package management. All my user side packages are Flatpaks. I then use Flatseal to lock down and modify Flatpaks as needed. What’s great is running programs like wine without installing a ton of dependencies and then locking the install from parts of my computer I don’t want it to have access to.

BigTrout75,

Depends. Ha ha

RPMs at work, Debs for my RaspberryPi devices. PacMan (Arch) and Flatpaks for home.

BigTrout75,

Yep we all eat too much. I started counting calories and found out that I was eating twice as much as I should have. It’s not obvious and every place serves big portions.

BigTrout75,

Bought a kitchen scale, bathroom scale and used the “lose it!” app to count calories. Lost weight.

BigTrout75,

I have a older desktop running a Nvidia GPU. It’s fast and works pretty well but I’m stuck in X11. I just don’t have the energy to drive into the forums and see why Wayland isn’t working.

I want a Stream Deck mostly because Valve’s support behind supporting the device.

BigTrout75,

Using Gnome and it’s just not giving me the choice. I think my driver is to old. Found this

Note: NVIDIA drivers prior to version 470 (e.g. nvidia-390xx-dkmsAUR) do not support hardware accelerated Xwayland, causing non-Wayland-native applications to suffer from poor performance in Wayland sessions.

BigTrout75,

After months and months of meetings he comes to the conclusion that they should develope another Sonic game.

Can Linux be dual booted on a computer with Windows?

I have a Lenovo Yoga running Windows 10 on a 1TB SSD and at some point will probably have to upgrade it to Windows 11. I use it for school and have to keep Windows on it for now because of what I’m currently doing. I want to start getting into Linux in hopes of making the switch sometime down the line. Is partitioning the disk...

BigTrout75,

I really like Gnome Boxes but they’re no 3d acceleration for Windows installs yet, right?

BigTrout75,

Sounds like they’re charging for a patched version

BigTrout75,

Acquisition in the tech world just means future layoffs.

BigTrout75,

My crystal ball says, “Limited stock and only available in expensive bundles for the first year”.

BigTrout75,

Endlessly reading on social media that is not a good from Linux “gurus”. LOL

It’s been great for me, but I wish it had a official gui for permissions management.

BigTrout75,

Flatseal is good, just not official.

BigTrout75,

Steam has won me over. Cheap games and free online play. And now amazing Linux support.

BigTrout75,

The issue with Linux is getting middle management to support it. I’m my experience is based on them laying you off and hiring somebody else. Linux is great but management needs support contracts.

BigTrout75,

Good for image but can they make a good game?

BigTrout75,

Hmmm. Should guarantee that the games don’t work once they abandon the drm.

BigTrout75,

No surprise, but hopefully they can figure something out with Valve

BigTrout75,

Nope. I have to know how fix everyone else’s computer.

BigTrout75,

Just shows how successful the Stream Deck is. Funny, the “PC selling game” has traditionally been BIGGER and FASTER, so that’s what they’re doing. 🤔

Go Steam Deck!

BigTrout75,

Anyone know of a good bartop kit? This looks good but it’s 6 years old.
