Please don’t post political stuff here. It won’t cause anything except empty destructive arguments

EDIT: oh and it’s also against the community’s rules

Open-source Android ROMs are but Chinese proprietary ones aren’t at all

Nala (an apt frontend) is the best I’ve seen so far

Yes but 1. It’s not the default 2. It kills some privacy stuff afaik

Ungoogled Chromium doesn’t have extension store support by default

No advanced tracking mitigation by default maybe?

GolfNovemberUniform, to buildapc in Core Distance to TjMAX randomly spikes to 100°C in OCCT
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

The problem is that the cooler is absolutely massive (because cheap materials = bad heat conductivity = more volume required) and the screws are unaccessible unless I remove the motherboard and its radiators (and I’m not even sure in that). I can try but I know I may not be able to reconnect the cables (the case is not cable management friendly at all). And also I have a physical disability so I can’t do anything like that myself anyways. Oh and the cooler is some kind of noname ODM manufacturer I think so finding instructions for it is hard or even impossible

@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

Well then I guess I don’t have a PC anymore because I can’t get it repaired any time soon. Thank you for help though

@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

Distance to TjMAX is a value opposite to temperature. If it’s 100°C, it means the core’s temperature is 0°C (at least for most of the Intel CPUs). The core temperature doesn’t spike to 0 though…

GolfNovemberUniform, to buildapc in Core Distance to TjMAX randomly spikes to 100°C in OCCT
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

The temperatures don’t spike and are completely normal though, even in stress tests. Maybe OCCT calculates the value and it fails because of freezes caused by stress tests? I don’t even see the 100°C on the live sheets. It just appears in the max column smh and stays there all session (as it should)

GolfNovemberUniform, to linux in Do you daily drive Wayland, if so since when, if not when will you?
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

I tried it a few times on different hardware. There were weird lags, freezes, crashes, latency, artifacts, flickering (once I had to reinstall the system to fix it), no cursor in games etc etc so no thanks. It doesn’t work for me. Maybe it’s possible to fix if I spend a week in the terminal but ehh idk. It’s just not ready for me I guess. And I didn’t even have enough time to find compatibility issues. I’m a little bit afraid that by the time Wayland is ready, a new system will already be required lol. It’s getting better though so probably it will be ready for business/production in a few years idk. The only thing I can definitely tell is that it must not be the default on regular desktop distros now. Wayland may be good but it’s not mature. Switching to it on the login screen is a 3 seconds task and it fixes so many issues, especially on older hardware

The GNOME release delay issue is here at least since GNOME 44. I’m not completely sure about older releases

Idk about your hardware but on mine it’s not good. There were even full desktop crashes (the ones that make systemd boot log appear and only switching to a different session can make the system usable again). Btw I noticed issues on both Xorg and Wayland smh. Can’t remember them now though
