Serinus,

TL would be at least 7-4 if they had Doublelift. I’ve not been impressed with some of Yeon’s play.

Serinus,

I think if you start at the beginning of that first grub fight and play it out ten times, it only goes that bad once.

Serinus,

Dig won draft.

Israeli settlers cross into Gaza, build 'symbolic' outpost (www.972mag.com)

From the first moments of the war, it was clear that right-wing Israeli politicians and settler leaders sensed an opportunity to radically shift the status quo in Israel-Palestine. For months, calls to resettle Gaza — often in the same breath as calling to expel the Strip’s 2.3 million Palestinian residents — have been...

Serinus,

It’s a little different. Ukraine at no point wanted to wipe Russia off the map. Ukraine didn’t make regular attempts to kill Russians. Ukraine never attacked Russia.

But other than that, I guess they’re basically the same.

Serinus,

Yeah, sorry. Didn’t mean to interrupt your circlejerk with facts.

There’s no nuance in the two situations and they’re exactly the same. Better?

Serinus,

Please explain how the two situations are similar and different. I know you can do the first part.

Serinus,

I guess the difference is that Palestine instigated the fight (because they’re oppressed because they want to instigate the fight because they’re oppressed, etc.)

Ukraine really did nothing wrong.

Serinus,

Except that if we started over and wrote the Constitution from scratch, we’d be the United States of Walmart.

Serinus,

Believe it or not, no. It could be a lot worse. The government is a thin layer protecting us from corporitocracy. It often fails, but getting rid of it isn’t going to make things any better.

We’re still several steps above Russia, for now.

Serinus,

They don’t have to deal with nuance. Just tell them who to hate and maybe give them a talking point they’ll swallow whole.

Serinus,

A different, coherent story, better art (not pixel), more challenging gameplay.

Try to keep some of the same feelings. Keep it menu based. Keep it isometric.

Invest in writers and art. The gameplay doesn’t need to be complicated.

Serinus,

They did what they could with 90s technology, and it was amazing at the time. If they could have done it in Studio Ghibli style, they would have.

We have more opportunities now with better technology, but we keep aiming at the wrong things. We don’t need a 3d, first person world. We don’t need more arpgs, and we don’t need pixel art.

Show 30 years of improvement in the parts that made it strong originally.

I’m absolutely a fan. I just don’t think it is the pinnacle of what can be done now.

Serinus,

Immortals could have had that baron at 25:30. They burn it fast enough.

Serinus,

The first time chemtech soul has ever been relevant.

Serinus,

Then you haven’t tried very hard.

Serinus,

a threat of Hamas destroying/seizing humanitarian aid? No!

I believe he was answering this. Are we not allowed to say Hamas is bad?

Serinus,

You can always just exit it when you don’t want it. It will just require a restart to play league again.

Serinus,

It makes a lot of sense from a technical perspective.

It doesn’t really have any more access than any other game you’ve installed with admin righta. The only difference is requiring it on startup, which helps prevent it from being circumvented.

We may see a day where you can’t have games and personal stuff on the same OS. Hell, with the recent Steam issue, you could say we’re there now. But if that does happen, it won’t be because of Riot.

Serinus,
Serinus,

I think they (and Travis) are missing a vision for how it should be done.

Look more to traditional sports. First, each match needs to be its own event. You shouldn’t just be starting one match after the other ends. If someone wants to make plans to watch the TSM game that starts at 6pm, the TSM game should start at 6pm.

I’d also advocate getting rid of spring playoffs altogether, and having one long season. Instead of two round robins per split with 10 teams (36 games in 18 weeks), you can certainly fit in three round robins per year with 8 teams (21 matches in 21 weeks).

I also think it’d be great to have one match on each of Thursday and Friday and two matches on either Saturday or Sunday.

Hell, maybe this makes road shows possible if you can fly out four teams to Chicago for nine days. I’d buy a ticket to something like that. Fly out on Saturday. This weekend in Chicago on Sunday is C9 vs Flyquest and 100 Thieves vs Team Liquid. Next Sunday is C9 vs Team Liquid and Flyquest vs 100 Thieves. Fly home on Sunday or Monday.

Israel says it will launch Rafah assault if hostages not freed by Ramadan (www.theguardian.com)

A member of Israel’s war cabinet has said the country will launch its threatened ground offensive against Rafah, the last place of relative safety in Gaza, if Hamas does not release its remaining Israeli hostages by the beginning of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan in just under three weeks....

Serinus,

Maybe Hamas should release the hostages.

Serinus,

Fight for server’s rights

Yeah, this isn’t what you’d be doing. Survey servers and ask if they’d rather get tips or $15/hour and see what kind of responses you get.

Serinus, (edited )

The standard tip at a POS is 0. Generally the same for carry out.

If you’re not getting personal service by a human, you don’t need to tip.

They do it because they can get away with it and it makes money off of suckers.

Serinus,

It’s true, but it’s not a great talking point. Every time you say we’re in a good spot, you’re going to have voters who aren’t in a good spot. So then you have to couch it in talk about doing more.

You’re right in that it’s worthy of bragging about; it’s just a tricky subject.

Serinus,

Yeah, either that’s pretty dumb or you’re pretty wealthy.

A standard tip is 15%. Up to 20% is reasonable. Anything more is generosity, and should never be expected.

The thing about inflation is that 15% of a larger number is a larger number. Inflation is built in, and you don’t need to add it twice.

Not everybody can be remembered as the guy who gives good tips. That’s not how it works.

Serinus, (edited )

It’s the last bit. His first paragraph is a good outlook. Encouraging everyone to tip 25-50% is insane and stupid.

People tend to vote based on the worst part of a comment.

Serinus,

benefits for everyone.

No, not benefits for everyone. Servers will never get a wage that’s equivalent to the tips they get now. Never.

Go survey servers on the subject and see what they think.

I’m not necessarily against no tipping areas, but I’m not going to act like it benefits the workers. It’s more of a crab bucket mentality where we bring the better paying low-skill job in line with all the rest.

Serinus,

We avoided the recession, the result is inflation

That’s more of a function of corporate greed than anything else. They’re all hiding behind each other while ripping you off, and getting away with it because it’s difficult to call out any one company when they’re all doing it.

What are you going to do about it, compete in the marketplace? The barriers to entry are high enough that that is extraordinarily difficult. And if you do manage it, why would you charge less than market rate? And you’re likely to just get bought out by a bigger competitor anyway, so grats on your cash out.

Serinus,

Tipping 15% isn’t “taking your choice out” on anyone. 15% is a fine and normal tip.

Serinus,

Illegal crossings really aren’t a huge issue. Most illegal immigrants enter legally and just don’t leave.

Serinus,

It’s interesting watching their narrative form. Often they don’t have an opinion on a subject until Fox News tells them to.
