Majority of Americans wrongly believe US is in recession – and most blame Biden (www.theguardian.com)

Nearly three in five Americans wrongly believe the US is in an economic recession, and the majority blame the Biden administration, according to a Harris poll conducted exclusively for the Guardian. The survey found persistent pessimism about the economy as election day draws closer....

SparrowRanjitScaur,

Do you live in the Bay area? I’m guessing you’ve ruled out small condos/townhomes? Why did you sell your original house and not buy a new one?

SparrowRanjitScaur,

I think he addressed your points pretty well in the interview OP linked. Inflation has gone down significantly since he took office. The real culprit for a lot of the everyday expenses Americans are struggling with right now isn’t inflation, it’s corporate greed. Companies used inflation and supply chain shortages as an excuse to raise prices to obscene levels and collect record profits. Those prices are never coming back down now, no matter how good the economy is.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

I tried putting black beans on my grill but they fell through the gaps. Help?

SparrowRanjitScaur,

You can also clone it locally without a server. Depends on whether you want to archive the repo or just use the product.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

Thousands of BLM protestors have been arrested: www.usatoday.com/story/news/…/6816074001/. I didn’t have to look very hard to find this. It’s simple - break the law, get arrested. Keep pushing your agenda though.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

It looks like there weren’t many. I think everyone that committed a crime during the BLM protests should be held accountable. And I’m glad that the people that broke into the capitol on Jan 6 are being held accountable. Surely you agree with that?

SparrowRanjitScaur, (edited )

They were unequal events. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make by comparing the two, but in my eyes breaking into the capitol building with the intention of overthrowing the government is a significantly worse crime and I’m glad the people responsible are facing justice.

I’ll say it again, all people responsible for a crime should be prosecuted. But stop trying to tell me apples are oranges.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

Which is nice because the Philips always gets stripped.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

Who pays extra for suburbs? Suburbs are significantly cheaper than the city.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

I like suburbs because it’s relatively calm, I can build a workshop in my garage, and there’s still pretty good amenities. And it’s significantly cheaper than the city.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

How are suburbs subsidized and how are city costs inflated?

SparrowRanjitScaur, (edited )

You just pick one up and carry it across the road and then drop it off in the little bin on the other side. The idea is that you’re more visible when you’re holding a flag.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with quitting on a high note. Not everything needs to be milked until people are sick of it.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

I think that was a drug nicknamed bath salts. Not actual bath salts

SparrowRanjitScaur, (edited )

Oh ya, totally useless. Humans don’t derive any nutrition from milk. It just teleports through their body.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

I don’t think any food is naturally meant for us, but that doesn’t stop us from eating it. Humans are pretty good at digesting organic compounds for sustenance.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

Collusion plus the fact that a significant portion of food brands are owned by a handful of companies: botcrawl.com/…/Companies-Own-The-Food-We-Eat-Info…

They used supply chain issues as an excuse to raise the price of all of their products to obscene levels, and then never brought the prices back down after the supply chains resolved, if that even was a real issue in the first place. I guess they figured people don’t really have the option to just not buy food.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

I don’t get this point. I feel like Biden’s done a great job as president so far. He’s had a lot of tough issues to deal with as president and so far he’s handled everything really well.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

I understand that it was about the Israel/Hamas conflict. And I understand that many people disagree with the US supporting Israel and the way things have played out so far in Gaza. I wish the US would not get involved in conflicts in that region, but to me a single international policy isn’t enough to negate all of the good that I feel Biden has done during his presidency. I also believe that any Israelis that have committed war crimes should be held accountable.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

Please see my response: lemmy.world/comment/8368703

SparrowRanjitScaur,

What’s so crazy about that? It’s pretty far north, it’s pretty normal to have long sunlight hours in the summer up north. Northern BC doesn’t get any night time in the summer anyways. The darkest they get is nautical twilight. And they get almost 19 hours of sun.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

Not really the same. The public gets a say in which art pieces are displayed in public. Museums exist for the preservation of history, good or bad.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

There’s the act of crossing the border illegally, and then there’s the act of being in a country without a valid visa. Obviously when people talk about illegal immigration they’re generally talking about the second case.

SparrowRanjitScaur,

Ya, just a dude and an afternoon and you’ve got it all covered, no prob.
