Words apparently mean the precise opposite now - people “defended” (rather than attempted to overthrow) the government, in “support” (rather than defiance) of the Constitution, and despite Trump’s felonious facts, he is touted as a fucking “hero”, and the legitimately elected President as the one who is “traitorous”.
Are you sure that you don’t have need of a uh… good, simple tailor? I hear that he makes problems of many kinds simply disappear, as if by magic! ✨ :-P
Probably to highlight exactly that tension on television, which at the time was shocking to people - hence the audience could sympathize, while learning that “hey, women can do this job too… oh yeah, they really can!?💡”
Tbh I have no idea - it was decades before my time. But he did seem to have a problem with her, especially as a woman somehow, right? So that was just my guess as to why, whatever the in-universe explanation may have been.
Wow. It boggles my mind to think about how rapidly things have changed. As an extremely strong proponent of wokeness - bc wrong is wrong, regardless of time period - I also get how culture takes a moment to digest the changes happening all around us.
For example, 1974 wasn’t all that recent, but those 50 years ago seems so much more so than e.g. the 1920s of 100 years ago, in large part due to being able to see it on Television (even with wacky coloration & such:-). Every aspect of life - like taking a horse or walking rather than Uber or subterranean Metro - has changed since the 20s, but also a lot has changed since the 70s too. And even the people who lived through it may not realize all the various ways how.
It seems an apt wording choice, imho, however it was originally intended. Having seen and experienced it with my own eyes & ears, I now cannot go back to the way I was before where I believed what others said about it. It is like how women experience things that men refuse to acknowledge - “no, surely Chad would not do that, you simply must have imagined it, little missy - please don’t spread such nasty lies about my friend like that”, but whether we are women or men or whatever, we can LISTEN to those who experience it FIRST-hand and therefore KNOW what it is like. Or, hide out in the bushes (with permission) and watch - it’s not that hard to do these experiments and truly see what’s going on, if only we are open to them. Not blindly trusting, you see? Nor blind acceptance of any old story either, but open to being convinced by actual facts as to whatever they may teach us.

since regardless of my personal beliefs, especially religious, I also believe in separation of church vs. state, or more importantly that Jesus/God Himself gave us that freedom to choose and told us to leave others the fuck alone (“Judge not lest ye be judged”), and also btw we are commanded to judge ourselves (“Judge ye by the fruit” - you know, of the vine?), so like judging the world but not ourselves (for a conservative this would be the likes of Trump and religious leaders etc.) is the precise opposite of the Biblical commands (which again, to be crystal clear, is to judge ourselves but not others).
And likewise I am woke:

Surely that’s some of it it no doubt… but also a terrifying possibility is that they legit don’t know at all, like it’s a real money hole that stuff comes in vs. out and they have no idea at all where it went… (as opposed to someone knowing but not wanting to say)
I mean, we lost that battle too, and will lose more to come, but the war is too early to tell.
What I see is America becoming more divided than it has been for any of our lifetimes. Some women, in some places, have rights, whereas in other places those rights are not recognized as such.
This shows me that we haven’t lost the war, yet, just pushed it to the state rather than federal level. Maybe we will lose, half a year from now even, but for now there’s a lot of room to make things better, locally.
Weiner in particular is probably a bad example, as the other responder to your comment pointed out, but in general I think we need to see more of that kind of thinking. The Left eats its own - like Al Franken - leaving the Right to gobble up power, pushing forward even people like George Santos, revealing the total lack of ethics standing in their way to get it.
Which is why they will win, eventually - facts be damned, bc this is the era of Alternative Facts - unless we pull our heads out of our asses and focus! e.g. if people protest not-vote for Biden due to the Gaza situation, or gas prices, or whatever, I don’t see how the “moral purity” that would result will in any way be preferable to Trump doing far, FAR worse.
So what happened to the left then, for it to have become so hopelessly inept? HRC was extremely disconnected from any irl people, but so are all such wealthy individuals who don’t live in the same world that the rest of us mere slobs humans do - is it really just a function that her campaign manager was not as good as the efforts put forth from the other side, similarly to how legal battles are won by lawyers rather than actual matters of substance like facts? It certainly doesn’t help that various outside actors got involved - with the numerous and exceedingly severe “email scandals”, but even aside from those she really seemed to be struggling with campaigning.
What it feels like is two giants fighting - the elites (and I think you know but to be absolutely clear, not the paper masks that they wear like “Biden” or “Trump”) - while the rest of us poor chumps get stepped on as they do. Which is obviously true, but somehow not fully, either, bc the true giants don’t even care (much) who wins bc they have the system so rigged that they win either way. The latter we could not begin to fight, but we may actually get to choose our own brand of toothpaste, if we work hard enough at it. And women’s rights seems like it is something up for grabs that way?
Especially, and this is the crucial part of my point, at the local level - at least currently, until the conservative politicians decide that they need another win and take that as well. While we argue amongst ourselves but do actually nothing to stop it.
Not merely the USA, as e.g. Brexit shows - this is happening everywhere, across the majority of the world stage, and in a targeted manner especially the Western nations. Even before Putin, things were set in motion, and we knew it at the time even yet did nothing to halt it, like a cancer growing or a virus infection, and because it presents as “us” we leave it alone, until it is ready to burst out and reveal its true intentions, when hiding is no longer necessary. To illustrate, one example seems to be the creation of Fox News, but surely that is not the only such thing.
YOUR kids would, I suspect, be better off than most kids in the USA - bc having parents that actually give a damn helps so much:-).

^This right there - this is about all that we have going for us. We provide protection and direct services, which isn’t nothing, nor is it never improperly abused (more’s the pity), but it is something. Otherwise, what, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter/X - these are the “innovations” that we share with the world? Along with Hollywood and whatever art like fashion we can get people to care about?
Anyway, things look bleak right now - bc, you know, they are:-D - but also remember: our media lies to us. Constantly. “If it bleeds it leads”, but conversely all the dry boring stuff simply doesn’t get reported, which is a travesty. Like how Biden made happen a MAJOR breakthrough in railway workers, taking six months of negotiations but eventually delivering everything that they asked for iirc including scheduling issues and PTO and sick leave (the dedicated latter is minimal but the former is flexible and can be used for anything) - that’s hella impressive, and considering how no other president has done such for railway workers specifically addressed a huge gaping hole in our nation’s infrastructure, with that form of transportation being so crucial to us all, mostly in ways we don’t even take any time at all to think about. And yet what did the media say about it? So when they preach doom & gloom for like climate change and the economy, setting aside how those are truly accurate, keep in mind that it’s also extremely biased.
Things won’t be the same as before - they won’t be as good as when life was easy. And maybe that’s for the better even bc damn did the generation that is putting us into this mess get complacent and entitled. But we’ll move forward regardless. And it’s not all bad - e.g. all the fantastic medical breakthroughs, which keeps happening even if they are for like highly specific diseases, yet for those that have them it makes all the difference, and also every advance helps scientists learn and makes possible future ones. 😁
Without having heard the podcast yet, I can assume that the conservatives won by actually trying, aka giving a damn about winning. They listened to their base - okay so abortion is bad, check, also gays are bad, check, etc. - then went on an enormous campaign that lasted for decades as you said, until they finally fucking delivered on what they promised… or some facsimile thereof. And now that they did, some conservative folks are finally questioning whether it was a good thing after all… but anyway the most important stuff of all got taken care of: tax cuts on the wealthy, check; also owning the libturds, check.
Trump goes to jail? Who cares, they still banned abortions. The nation slides into a totalitarian regime? So long as gays are prevented from marrying one another, that still counts as a win! OMG I wish I were joking!! 🤮 But that is reality, and conservatives are facing it.
Whereas if Hillary Clinton had faced it, maybe she would have campaigned a bit harder in Midwestern states, rather than merely make comments about liking grits and carrying hot sauce in her purse.
Anyway as you said, run for city councils and schoolboards. Conservatives do that, based on their alternative facts, but liberals with our actual true facts usually seem to not bother, at which point ofc they will win, by default - that’s just how that works, especially when someone runs unopposed. We may talk about UBI or whatever, and some exceedingly rare instances are able to give such things a try, but for the most part it’s the slow grind, the basic gains, the slow and steady progress that wins the race. Maybe we can (re-)learn what we seem to have forgotten from ye olden decades by watching modern conservatives.
As the great man Jon Stewart once said (in reference to media), “liberals aim to be correct, while conservatives aim to be effective”. I don’t fully know what that means, except FAAFO, as we are always doing right now, at every moment.

It is not enough to do the right thing - it also must be done in the right way, or it becomes the wrong thing.
He does have a right to express himself… up to a point. That point is when it crosses over to affect someone else, in a harmful way - e.g. yelling “Fire!” in a crowded theater is a well-known exception to the Freedom of Speech.
If we are authoritarians, then we ask what the content was that caused the response - if we agree i.e. it was directed at the “other side” then we allow it, if we disagree then suddenly it is labelled “wrong”. Similarly, look to the King to see if a joke was “funny” or not, etc. Hypocrisy is baked right into the system, by design.
But if we are liberals, then we ask whether the content harmed someone, period, regardless of the directionality, and label it permissible or not based solely on that. “Fair” is not just a word used to attempt to get our way here, but meant genuinely as in a goal worth enormous amounts of effort to strive for.
It gets slightly complicated b/c some that work forces burn crosses (claim to be authoritarian but are actually subversively opposing of the Will of The People) while some that march likewise merely claim to be liberal but actually uphold authoritarian principles, and anyway we all are guilty of something, somewhere, on a bad day, but the above is the theory as best as I understand it at least.

Trying to, unfortunately Republicans aren’t the only ones seeking to destroy everything - the Democrats doing a damn fine job as well:-(. This isn’t bOtH sIdEs BS, I’m saying that one side had a majority and did something with it, then the other side had that and… didn’t. Thus by the ratchet effect, they win by default. Biden’s Presidency has done so much, but the Democratic party as a whole not so much.
I cannot imagine “knowing” as much as you, when it seems to me that the more I study, the more facets, nuances, and subtleties I uncover. Trying to fathom the idea that there are precisely and only two of every single thing on earth - genders, political parties, black or white, good or bad, even day vs. night - when what I see is a rainbow of spectral complexity, for example a very cloudy (rainy?) day or a bright moonlit night… is too constraining, nay actually heart-rending for me to do for long. You may feel free to keep your eyes squeezed shut if you must, but I promise you that if you peek out of them, you will see wonders abounding!

That’s what I’m guessing - he sounds like he’s telling the masses what they want to hear here, but wouldn’t the lowering of unemployment and raising of minimum wages to allow people alternatives to crime be a greater causes of change? But anyway he’s doing it all, and trying to reach out to the centrists here, who might actually be trying to decide between him vs. Trump, so that much at least is great.
I am downvoting bc of the exceedingly clickbait title with absolutely zero follow-up details except for a link. This post is therefore “advertising” - like spam in my inbox alerting me to an “opportunity” (to save on car insurance or printer ink, ignoring whether or not I even have one of those devices, or whatever), it takes up all of our attention. Which at currently 37k subscribers to this community, measured at a one minute each, is collectively 617 hours, or 15.4 work week time periods, i.e. 3.9 months total.

Possibly you mean well OP - I have had troubles posting articles myself, assuming that details would be auto-populated like I see elsewhere, but then it did not happen - I am just offering my unasked-for opinion, in case it helps.:-) Especially since others I see are likewise downvoting so I wanted to add an explanation at least from my own POV.
I don’t think it’s a poor title, and even if it was as you said there is a constraint there, but rather my beef was how the title was the only piece of information offered.
I am not accusing you of trying to sell anything commercially - I was offering some advice to help you get the message out that you wanted to spread. This is not your family that you might expect to click on every single link that you send, this is a social media platform where people from all walks of life are here, and you had an opportunity to not quite “sell” but “encourage” people to read this post. I ran into a similar situation in the past where I posted a video, and someone was kind enough to explain why they did not want to watch it, so I added a description and while it was too late for discoverability, it did help I think.
