Psythik,

So the rich are God? Explains why so many people worship them.

Psythik,

Nobody in line tried to stop them from cutting?

Psythik,

Never play Starfield; it’ll make you hate Bethesda, especially Emil Pagliarulo (the lead designer and writer of the story).

I used to feel the same way as you, until I played it. Now I have zero interest in anything Bethesda has coming out in the future. They’ve proven to me that they’re incapable of making a modern game with a good story. Only thing that would convince me to play another title of theirs is if they finally ditch Gamebryo and never let Emil in the writer’s room ever again, two things that’ll never happen.

Psythik,

And those countries are wrong. Using a comma as a decimal point makes no logical sense, especially in computing. And it’s ugly from an aesthetics standpoint.

Psythik,

Well that just makes ordering simple for you because you only have two options.

Psythik,

Yeah seriously that’s an ungodly amount of RAM for a PC of this vintage. My old WinMe machine had 128MB.

(And an 800Mhz PIII. I later added a GeForce 4 MX 4000 so I could actually play games at more than 15-20 FPS. It was my first graphics card purchase ever. Also upgraded to XP cause Me would BSoD so often that I never got a chance to do a proper shutdown at the end of the day. When the machine crashed, I was done for the day.)

Psythik,

People have actually made it through Starfield? I tried so hard, but couldn’t make it past 20 hours (which isn’t a lot for a Bethesda RPG). The story is just so damn BORING.

Psythik,

Good to know. I don’t even know about these “starborn” people. Never made it that far.

Psythik,

Couldn’t think of anything other than an insult a 7-year-old would come up with, huh?

Psythik,

What the hell is a “nob”

Psythik,

I hate them because I work 12 hour shifts and so I have very little time to myself at the end of the day. But what I hate even more is smelling like shit. So I figured out that if I buy a water resistant Bluetooth speaker and listen to podcasts in the shower, suddenly I don’t feel like I’m cutting into my limited freetime as much anymore.

That said, if some technology came out that automatically bathes you while you sleep, I’d be an early adopter.

Psythik,

What I do is lift the curtain and lay the bottom of it across the edge of the tub, then I sit down there. The curtain rod has yet to come crashing down on my head, but you have to be careful not to spill water outside of the tub, because it will pool up behind you and make a big mess if you’re not careful when standing up and putting the curtain back.

Hope I explained this adequately, cause it will save you some money on not getting a chair.

Psythik,

Just because it’s legal, doesn’t make it morally correct.

Reminds me of my aunt. Strongly against weed, then it gets legalized and suddenly she smokes more than I do. Pure hypocrisy.

Psythik,

You’ve seriously never been there? It’s a staple of internet porn, along with the porntubes like XVideos and PornHub.

If you can’t find it anywhere else, you can find it on rule34.paheal. Only downside is that it’s mostly pictures/drawings. There are some videos but they tend to be short animations.

Psythik,

Bruh this is one of the most well-known porn sites in existence. Don’t pretend like you’ve never heard of it. (You might be one of today’s lucky 10,000, I suppose.)

Psythik,

To be fair, I say that when I search for literally anything on a modern search engine when I forget to add either before:2023 or site:reddit.com to my queries.

Psythik,

I miss Sky Mall so badly.

These days there’s nothing to do on a plane except play on your phone, and you can already do that literally anywhere else.

Psythik,

Would be kind of pointless because this is the type of game you play for the pretty graphics, not the story or gameplay. I wouldn’t even bother with Cyberpunk unless you have a GPU that can do full path tracing. The story is boring and the gameplay is repetitive. All you do the entire game is just grab the fun with the highest DPS and shoot anything hostile. There’s no reason to even waste time with the hacking and stealth elements.

Psythik,

I was using the term “app” long before smartphones were a thing. That said, “program” was the more commonly-used term for me in the 90s.

Psythik,

An HDR calibration/troubleshooting tool for KDE.

A port of SignalRGB, or a similar app that allows me to set up RGB using a GUI interface where I can arrange the lights to match my physical setup with my mouse. OpenRGB is too cumbersome.

A proper port of Nvidia Control Panel with no features missing (I especially need the 3D settings screen and RTX video enhancement settings). Or ressurect ATI Tray Tools and add more features for both GPU manufacturers. Nvidia X Server is woefully inadequate.

Psythik,

Or maybe a 100% science-based dragon MMO?

Psythik,

Yeah IDK either, this place is not nearly as addictive as reddit so I’m not on here daily, either.

Psythik,

TIL that BG3 is an RTS. I thought it was just an MMO or a DotA/LoL predecessor.

Psythik,

And then of course there’s the oblkgitory Ship of Harkinian for my Ocarina of Time fans, which is probably the most feature-complete PC port of an N64 game ever.

Psythik,

Does it have to be dosed a certain way, because I’ve only ever tried it recreationally and it didn’t do anything for my depression. The euphoria wore off very quickly, and tolerance built rapidly. The whole experience lasted less than 20 minutes, IIRC, with no “afterglow” unlike with psychedelics and MDMA. Very short trip and then back to normal. Redosing was futile.

Psythik,

In what universe are prepubescent children having sex?

Psythik,

I see you’ve never been to Long Beach, CA

Psythik,

The game is very repetitive, anyway. I was bored after about 20 hours. By then you’ve already seen everything there is to see.

Psythik,

Hmm well I played on and off for about a month and didn’t notice anything new.

Do you know if they plan on adding some new game modes? I’m already sick and tired of the whole “shoot bugs, rescue hostages/blow up objective, shoot more bugs then extract” thing. I get that a lot of shooters have a tendency to only have 2-3 game modes max, but those games at least have PvP to keep things interesting.

Psythik,

Speaking of which, I like to add cannabis distillate (like the stuff they put in carts) to Everclear and stir until it’s completely infused in the alcohol. Then pound the shot, chasing it immediately with a beer (do not try this without a chaser). Wait 45 minutes and you will be higher than you’ve ever been in your entire life, I guarantee it.

Psythik,

Chase it with whatever you want, but personally I find that a carbonated alcohol beverage makes cannabis much stronger by an order of magnitude. But I also use weed and alcohol daily so you should probably ignore my advice unless you’re in the same situation as me and just want to get as fucked up as legally possible.

Psythik, (edited )

Recent? They’ve been pulling bullshit moves like this since the 80s, when they successfully killed off the game rental market in Japan. To this day you still can’t rent games in that country.

This is why it’s always morally correct to pirate Nintendo games, and thankfully Nintendo consoles have had a history of being among the easiest to emulate, especially the N64, Wii, and Switch. All three of those systems had working emulators while the consoles themselves were still in their peak years.

Psythik,

That said, I just fired up the game yesterday for the first time since launch and was surprised by how much progress was being made. I was surprised to find that mod support is already available; I thought it was still a work in progress cause I didn’t hear anything about it. You think that Paradox would have been making a huge announcement about it since it’s a huge important thing, but if they did, I surely can’t find it on their website nor on the produce page in Steam.

I was also surprised to find that my performance issues were fixed too. Now getting a solid 40-60 FPS on high settings with a medium-sized city @ 4K. Not bad, given that I usually averaged 20-30 on the same machine in C:S1.

Now all they gotta do is make the economy easier to understand. I still don’t get how I can be losing money every month, yet my balance keeps going up. But other than that, all of my complaints with the game have been fixed. If anyone reading this hasn’t played the game in several months, I suggest you give it a try again. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Psythik,

They finally killed off BC2? So I can finally give up on the futile effort of reinstalling the game every year, in hopes that maybe I’ll find a populated server this time around?

I miss that game so much. Rush was so much fun. The maps were designed perfectly for that game mode, unlike future BF titles where it’s a tacked on feature. It was so good, that I found out the hard way that I actually don’t like Battlefield games, after wasting money on BF3, 4, and Hardline, and hating all of them. I just want more Bad Company games.

Psythik,

Conquest is not my idea of fun, either. It’s a lot of running back and forth between the same objectives over and over again until someone wins. To me there’s no thrill in that.

I like the concept of “push/bomb/capture the objective and move on to the next phase of the map” in any game that has it. Used to play a lot of Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch because of it. But now I’ve moved past those games as well. Overwatch has an issue where the meta evolves faster than I can keep up, and TF2 has the opposite problem we’re the meta doesn’t evolve at all because Valve doesn’t update the game. So I’ve stopped playing shooters for now until something new comes out that satisfies my desire for this kind of gameplay.

Psythik,

Saving this pic so I can recreate this beautiful monster in Cities: Skylines.

Psythik,

How fucking massive is your shower that you can’t simply reach into it and grab the handle?

Psythik,

Did Pure Pwnage ever pay you rolalties?

Horn of Balance - an indie 2D zelda-like

I'm developing 'Horn of Balance', a 2D zelda-like featuring 12 non-linear dungeons, 2 interconnected worlds and a TON of secrets.

Right now, the project is live on Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hornofbalance/horn-of-balance) and we've almost hit the funding goal with just 24 hours left!

There's also a free demo on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2738140/Horn_of_Balance/) and Itch.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have!

@games

Psythik,

I wish that the N64 and GameCube era of Zelda got more love. 2D Zeldas are great and all (especially Link’s Awakening and Minish Cap), but most of my adolescent gaming memories were formed in the early 3D era so that’s what I cherish most. Yet most indie devs seem to be Gen-Xers who trying to cater to Zoomers who really seem to have a thing for the 2D era, despite having no memory of it. But I would love nothing more than an indie title inspired by Majora’s Mask or Wind Waker.

Psythik,

Well I don’t necessarily mean copy the graphics, but more of the gameplay of that era. A N64/GameCube-like title with modern graphics is what I’m looking for.

Psythik,

Grimes is running for vice president?

Psythik,

Dude why do you know so much about his relationships?
