This was an actual typing test using the QAZ keys over on the right side which is less horrible than I imagined it would be. I probably got lucky, though, because there weren’t many Q’s or Z’s in my test.
I don’t understand this. Why would you take a commonly used vowel off of the home row and put it where you have to shift your whole hand to get to it? What am I missing?

I really dislike when games tie rewards to watching game streamers.
I don’t have a twitch account, nor do I want one. I don’t want to watch strangers play video games, I want to play the game myself. But because I really, really don’t want any part of “gamer culture” I get gated out of benefits.
Televisions that can stream platforms like Hulu or Max usually come loaded with technology that collects information on what viewers are watching, and buyers consent to have their viewing tracked when they open their new TV and click through terms of service agreements. Sometimes, data firms can connect those viewing habits to a...
I wish there were more high quality dumb TVs. Most of the dumb TVs I can find today are both very expensive and lack the features I’m looking for like HDR and 120hz+ frame rates.
I know the argument is that the privacy invasions are subsidizing the cost of the TV but I have yet to see non-anecdotal evidence of that and suspect that the price of the TV would be the same either way because the market will only support so much expense.
I set up a pretty workable controller config that I played with for like two months, but even with many hours invested in fine tuning it I just felt like I was fighting the game’s UI and I gave up.
What’s really frustrating is that the game is totally playable with a controller. ANet just needs to update the menus and it would be a fantastic experience.
I had a setup that turned on the action camera when I put my thumb on the steam decks left stick, so I was always in normal mode unless I was actively looking around or moving.
It was pretty natural and the best experience I came up with, but I still felt like it was a compromise I was frustrated to have to make.
Physical media today isn’t really much better though, increasingly frequently all a disk gets you is a license to activate a digital copy anyways, with a “must be online for first play” requirement.

This attitude is what lets the government and big tech get away with so much bullshit.
“Well it’s happening already so crying about it isn’t going to change anything because you know that protest has never ever been effective even once ever and I kinda like the taste of boot anyways so what’s the big deal?”
“Should we not be buying VW, BMW, Siemens and Bayer technology and products today because they participated in holocaust and directly collaborated with Hitler?” – CEO of Kagi when given feedback re: Brave partnership
I am a paying subscriber to Kagi because the search results are excellent and there are no ads, so of course you show me a thread on “we should maybe add a small message to suicidal users telling them there is help for them” which then reads like a truth-social propaganda thread, filled to the brim with “helping people is a slippery slope!!! muh freedoms!!” arguments.

I’m fighting the good fight by using Safari to browse and Kagi to search. I have effectively eliminated Google from my life and I could not be happier about it.
Signed, a former Google fan who got tired of being the product for their ever shittier services.
I see mention of full gamepad support, which makes me happy. When I can play it from my steam deck without wonky input customization I will finally dive back into the game.
I use a different layout to type, but I'd like to be able to have my physical layout reflect what I'm actually typing. The problem is that moving the F and J keys to where they should be means the home row would be missing the tactile bumps, and I use those to recenter my hands when I'm not looking. I'd like to add keycaps for...

I think having a split keyboard so my mouse can be in the middle would really help my comfort at the desk. Is there a style that doubles up the middle keys? My typing style means sometimes I use my right hand to hit T, left to hit Y, etc....
Unfortunately the reality of niche online communities is that the assholes tend to be over represented in them.
Good luck with your ergo journey!
FWIW: when I made the leap I went full in and got a split, columnar stagger keyboard with layers, and switched to colemak at the same time. It was a very rough couple of months relearning to type, but I learned along the way that my typing technique had been atrocious in ways I never realized. I do a much better job now of using the correct finger for each key and my hand pain from typing is basically gone.
Another happy Svalboard user is crushing it on day 1! I’m really amazed at how quickly most folks are adapting, users of split ergo boards seem to be getting the hang in a week or so, and transitioning to full-time use after 2-3 weeks!...
Cool project, seems like something that I would like to try out, but that price point just isn’t realistic for something so niche. It may well be fantastic, but a nearly $800 gamble is too risky when the market is flooded with keyboard alternatives I can build for an eighth of the cost.
Why not sell the hardware kit for something more reasonable and then let us print our own casing?
