As a regular user of both, I’m able to accomplish custom stuff faster with Linux, but Mac is pretty hands off once you get it set up. That said, it’s a garbage OS out of the box. It’s 2024 and it doesn’t even have windows snapping or back button support. You have to install and configure 3rd party tools to make it behave like something created in the last two decades. I’m pretty sure Apple doesn’t give a shit about their Mac OS anymore, since most of their money comes from iOS and store purchases/subscriptions.
Edit: sales and marketing don’t exist to sell stuff that people want, they exists to sell stuff that people don’t want. If you sell something with a high demand then you’re not a salesman, you’re a glorified cashier. Salesmanship involves getting people to buy stuff they wouldn’t otherwise buy. Most companies don’t have anything special that everyone wants, so they have to resort to sales and marketing to stay in business.
I never consent to give my data away or being tracked, but how do you deal with so called legitimate interest? I tried several times to untick them but it is a long list (in fact at the bottom there is a “vendors” link with even longer, much longer list. It took me 10 minutes to get to the bottom of it once)....
K-9 mail is what I originally used, but it isn’t supported or being developed any more. There were some weird issues that I can’t remember now that caused me to switch to FairEmail.
There is a definite impact to a society when they open up to outside cultures. Countries who don’t have a history of large scale immigration face challenges to their identity, and cultural strength, especially when immigrants don’t desire to integrate with the culture they migrated to. The citizens have to learn new skills, interacting with people that are different from them, and need to learn acceptance and tolerance. Those are valuable skills to learn, but it’s dishonest to pretend that immigration doesn’t have any impact on the host country. Certain European countries have been getting a master class on the challenges that mass immigration poses to their unified cultural identity. I’m from the United States, so I’m no stranger to immigration, but I recognize how there would be an adjustment period for those who are.
Usually I rely on my network & haven’t needed this kind of document in ages, but I’ve been tasked with creating a résumé for myself. I’ve grown more privacy-conscious every year & I think it’s weird that we are expected to give out so much information about ourselves to companies that lie about their culture & don’t...
Meh. I’m a privacy focused individual, but when it comes to job hunting the prospect is difficult enough without gimping yourself with arbitrary resume requirements. Put the work history that you think is relevant, relevant skills, your name and contact information, and be done with it.
It means they’re okay with Blizzard launching expansions on maintenance day, so that nobody can actually play until the day after the game is released.
Have they done something to SC2? I quit playing that game years ago, but it seemed like they were done touching it, and it was still in its original glory.

It’s not even close to impossible. It is very possible to end the collection of private data. We just need a law that makes it illegal. Unfortunately the people who make the laws are the ones who want to install cameras in your bathroom so they can watch you poop.
I liked how in Voyager The Captain told the chief engineer to make something happen in half the estimate she gave and the engineer replied “No. If I say it’s going to take 3 days, then that’s how long we need. I don’t fluff my estimates”.
So, Google thinks they own the whole Internet now, and will force ads over every single website. AMP wasn’t enough for them. I used to love Google, but now I pretty much hate them.
It costs money, but to me it’s a small price to pay for my sanity. My average search volume is about 700 searches per month. That’s 700 times per month that I was getting frustrated, getting bombarded with ads, and being unable to find what I was looking for. Now I don’t have that problem, so my frustration levels have decreased considerably.
Hopefully it works out for you. FYI, if you’re searching for a question, add a question mark at the end of it and Kagi will put an AI summary answer at the top of the results. In my experience it is very accurate.
