Just in case anyone doesn’t know: the main supreme court case about conscription basically had the decision of “But Mom! All the other countries do it!”

You spelled “behold the fruits of people who don’t vote because they think politicians will notice or be able to care, but it only drives candidates right to capture more voting power” wrong
Edit: Okay this comment is very controversial. The thing I said above is a basic fact. If a group markets itself as unreliable voters, politicians will stop trying to get their vote over more reliable voters. Your vote matters. Your vote matters. Go fucking vote.
Edit 2: biden is currently not touting his more left-wing accomplishments (and oh boy there are a lot of then) to try and get more cwntrost votes, because the far left is currently “But Isreal” which is valid but trump is NOT better.
Edit 2a: sorry about that. I many go say “them” instead of “then” and centrist instead of “cwntrost” which us the word a catboy says instead of “contrast”
French President Emmanuel Macron has dissolved the lower house of parliament and announced fresh elections after his party’s poor performance in the EU elections. His party was defeated by the far-right National Rally....
It seems weird as an american for anyone in the executive branch to have the power to dissolve the legislative, even if (and I assume there are) requirements for an election in X amount of time, can’t do it too often, etc.
Here in the US Congress isn’t just lawmakers, they do investigations, have committees, etc. and act as a check on executive power. It would be weird if the US president would be able to just dissolve Congress
Hm yeah that makes sense. Jury trials are kind of a requirement. Is all this due to the thing in the constitution that says “and no fact tried by a jury shall be retried”?
Its really weird how the presidency works. It’s an elected position but there’s no actual requirement that the person who is actually president is elected, because the need to have continuity of executive power is more important. NAL but I also thinks that if he’s in jail next in line takes over.
Hi. I wasn’t helpful. There’s two cases for what you might want. Tor presumably doesn’t letterbox if you set the resolution in Dev tools, such as if you want to take a screenshot. (Open Dev tools, click on the phone icon, set resolution at top. OR you could use the For daemon’s proxy on a regular browser.
How is value for one generation balanced against subsequent ones.
I don’t know actually. By market regulation? By ensuring new housing isn’t a PITA to build and telling NIMBYs to fuck off? You’d also need to regulate the other way. Ideally a maintained house wouldn’t have its value changed that much over time. And it would be adjusted to inflation.
if you pay a mortgage like most people do over 15-30 yrs, you’re paying something on the level of 150%-200% of its value.
Yes and your net worth accumulates 50%-66% of what you pay. That’s better then the 0% for renting. AND you don’t need to complete the mortgage to sell the home and reclaim that stored wealth.
And yes housing should be affordable. I’m saying all this within the context of some kind of free market economy with some kind of private property. Being able to add most of your home payments to your net worth is very helpful in the long run. Especially if you need the Monet, you can switch to renting. Again, ideally, that would be the same cost as a mortgage, as the landlord would be using that rent to pay down their mortgage or whatever.

…and you’re doing the same thing as the idiots wanting to ban golden rice. You have to understand things in context and the context here is they are clearly targeting just golden rice not all GMOs
To be more specific, my above comment was more or less saying “see! I can make meaningless arguments too!”. Golden rice saves lives. Lots of things that save lives arent proven safe.
