My dad was trying to tell me that the COVID vaccine is dangerous, so he googled it, sent me a blog with the Google link in it, then got upset when I found that the source that blogger used said “those who are able to be vaccinated help those who cannot be vaccinated.” This was all because of my and my wife’s request to get the vaccine to meet our 3 month old.
He didn’t like that I did actual research on his partisan blog to prove him wrong.
Actions speak louder than words. If you say you love and support children, but vote to take away their rights to be who they are and read what they want, you’re a bad person. If you say you support women, but vote to take away their bodily autonomy and voice, you’re a bad person. If you say you support helping the poor, but vote to decrease or eliminate social programs meant to help the poor, you’re a bad person.
The Republican nominee-in-waiting said that “there’s a lot you can do in terms of cutting” when pressed on CNBC about the solvency of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid....
If social security is cut, can I get all the money I put into it back? Because I’d have a sizeable retirement rather than losing all that money to the ether.
A complete lie about the time and location of a horrific atrocity just to rail against Biden is about as despicable as it gets. This poor woman is being used as a political pawn and is about to get dragged through the media shit storm just because the Republicans don’t have any sense of decency and empathy.
This whole thing should make everyone angry, but the only people who are going to read a story about this lie are not the people who need it.
If anything, letting people like her have sanctuary in the US would help, but the Republicans don’t want that.
You just pointed out another reason why her using this story to score political points is so disgusting. These are the people whom the asylum program is supposed to help, and the Republicans actively work against helping.
If there’s a hell, she’s going to it. She deserves it.
it’s the middle of the night and the house is silent. You finish your business and in your sleepiness know that you have to put the seat and lid down because you don’t want all that bacteria on your toothbrush, your towel, your clothes. So you turn around grab the lid and
Easy, tax net worth. Tax the value of all assets owned by an individual, trust, or corporation only in excess of some large number. Perhaps exceeding 5x the median net worth.
And only then might a corporation get tax incentives based on the number of people they employ. Because let’s be fair here, office buildings are really expensive and we don’t want to disincentivize company growth and job creation.
I’m no expert or anything, but curing cancer is getting pretty close, from what I’ve heard. The mRNA vaccine research is having great impacts on being able to fight cancerous cells.
We may be closer than we realize to living in a cancer-free world.
There hasn’t been a lot of good news out of EA lately, but here’s some: the company just launched a bunch of classic games on Steam. The new (old) releases include nine games in total, spanning franchises like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, and SimCity....
Maybe a lawyer could tear this apart and find loopholes, but the law should be so simple as to say:
“A company providing mobile computing services and products, being hardware, software, or networking, shall allow under all circumstances and without restriction, the installation and usage of applications from all sources.”
But of course, I’m not a Lawyer, so there’s probably a loophole to be found in that.
Which video games have been trapped on a hardware platform (console/handheld/headset/etc.) that you wish would be ported well?
I was reading about Oculus accounts that haven't been assimilated into Meta accounts being erased, & it got me thinking about games trapped on hardware platforms again. What are some of the games you wish would have good ports across different hardware?
There was one really underrated feature in the Kinect and that was its microphones. It allowed for voice commands and interactions in games.
And with how popular LLMs have gotten, wouldn’t it be amazing to have an actual conversation with an NPC? Imagine LA Noire where you can ask any question you want. Or Bethesda games where you’re not limited to 4 or 5 canned responses. Natural language conversation with NPCs would be such an amazing feature
Oh shit, you’ve just made me realize that companies will be able to track exactly what you’re looking at and for how long in order to serve you even more targeted ads. And they could even move ads right into your eyesight until you click on it.
That’s for fixing sure. I’m no shill for any company, but game pass is by far the most value-for-money subscription out there. Netflix is more expensive and doesn’t give even half the entertainment value.
We’ll see if the price doesn’t get prohibitive over the next 5 years.
The community was freaking the fuck out and it was seriously the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.
People defending exclusives and berating MS for taking their games multiplatform, IGN claiming that Xbox was on fire and dying as a brand, people pissed that somehow Xbox was abandoning loyal fans…
Bloober Team aren’t the ones making the marketing materials and are also upset at how bad the trailer is. Konami very likely is misrepresenting the game because the paper pushers and the ones not actually working on the game used their marketing degrees to piece together a corporate video.
I need some relationship advice. I suggested 125% but my wife won’t budge from 10%. Is this normal? How did it go when you had this conversation with your romantic partner?
Shit, if I won the lottery my wife would be the only one who’d be part of my life. Fuck everyone else, we’re disappearing into the ether to enjoy fucking around the world.
I think you’ve really nailed it with this. Some of the best games over the last few years have been remakes and sequels. I can’t remember the last new IP that was a big deal. Elden Ring? But that’s as close to “sequel” as you can get without strictly being called a sequel.
All the new IPs that have come out haven’t been all that good.
We need to push to end console exclusivity. It’s bad for the consumer because it pushes more sales of a console you may not want, rather than the consoles competing on their own merit.
It deserves it. It’s not a perfect game, but it’s a hell of a good one and it is incredibly satisfying to play.
My biggest gripe is that save scumming often feels absolutely necessary because you’ll unknowingly get yourself into situations that you just can’t push through without reloading or your whole party dying.
A good DM knows that games are most fun when the party barely scrapes by, but doesn’t die until the end game. If they could have implemented some sort of dynamic difficulty that adjusted background rolls and enemy decisions to keep the player pushing forward, it would have felt much more satisfying.
I think that’s one of the biggest complaints people have had of the dialogue system. It’s really annoying to have a person in your party who could nail the conversations, but not be able to use them.
Especially when you walk into a conversation with a person specifically interested in one of your party members, but that specific member just has to stand there silent.
It’s not fudging roles, it’s making NPC decisions that help keep the game moving forward.
A party of actual players would not be very happy with a DM that killed everyone in the first two hours of playing. Which is exactly what happened when I played BG3. Quickly taught me to save often and reload when I realize I’m completely losing a fight.
Not really. Don’t get me wrong, I’m jealous of the PS exclusives, but I’ve gotten more value out of Game Pass than I would have out of a PlayStation over those years.
Now if Game Pass ends up on PlayStation by some miracle, I’ll be jumping ship.
