RGB3x3,

This whole thing is so bizarre to me. People have complained endlessly over the years about game console exclusivity. I personally think it’s bad for the consumer.

And now that MS is talking about putting their experiences on other platforms, people are upset with them? That they’ve somehow lost their way, that the brand is dying?

Seriously, have I lost my mind? What’s going on?

RGB3x3,

But can you rip a man’s arm off with your bare hands like that gorilla?

Gorilla may be fat, but he jacked too.

RGB3x3,

Yeah. That’s the Republican plan in general. Drill, baby, drill. More oil, more coal, higher-cost energy, fuck liberal solar, wind, and nuclear.

They just bury their heads in the sand about climate change and ignore the fact that solar and wind generate cheaper electricity than coal.

RGB3x3,

Hey, at least you have quality shit posting going for you. So you’re doing okay in that respect.

RGB3x3,

You may be overthinking the idea. Referring to someone as an NPC is just a shorthand to describe people who fit into the crowds, who don’t make real impressions on you, who really don’t have anything to contribute to your life, but who likely contribute a whole lot to the people in their lives.

You’re an NPC to almost everyone, just as everyone is an NPC to almost everyone else.

You can’t always drill down into people’s personalities to give them real unique identities in your mind.

It’s like walking into a crowd during a concert. Everyone else is an NPC to you except the couple people you went with.

RGB3x3,

I chose breathing:

Money’s Paw: it feels like you’re breathing through a straw forever now.

RGB3x3,

Don’t even complain, that shit is a vacation.

RGB3x3,

Are people mad about this? Console exclusivity is asinine and bad for gamers.

And MS doing that may pressure Sony to stop playing the exclusivity game too. Nintendo definitely won’t stop that, but maybe Sony will.

RGB3x3,

No, but it’s definitely a boring dystopia.

RGB3x3,

Stadia was such a funny story, imo. Nobody thought it would last given Google’s track record of killing products. Then to try to get into the gaming industry, an industry notoriously impossible to break into… And lo and behold, they failed and killed Stadia.

RGB3x3,

The ”2D" planes of Skyrim and Fallout lend themselves much better to exploration than the menu-driven travel of Starfield.

At least you felt like you were finding interesting things and places, instead of traveling to menu icons.

RGB3x3,

“Oopsies, we got caught giving them to the rich first!”

RGB3x3,

Surely “The Man” would be a better song for that.

RGB3x3,

Caleb McLaughlin could probably do pretty well, I don’t know who the other guy is, but Jaden Smith would be fucking awful

RGB3x3,

Oh shit, then it for sure has to be him. His voice performance in those movies is stellar.

Though, a good voice actor doesn’t always make a good live actor so… Whatever, it’s all hypothetical anyway.

RGB3x3,

Stoner + Priest = Jesus

Yeah, that’s about right.

RGB3x3,

Santa the Christmas Ninja, someone should make a movie

RGB3x3,

It’s a great game up until you get to the soldiers part and the following laboratory area. I got to trying to get around those ridiculously difficult flesh monster or whatever in the lab and just quit.

It was a wild pivot from the rest of the game that completely lost my interest.

RGB3x3,

People who drink sodas? And juice? And for mocktails?

RGB3x3,

This kind of journalism makes it out to be that LGBTQ+ persons are a monolith, and as if there aren’t literally many different types of people in that group.

Just say Bi. Or don’t consider it at all because sexuality has nothing to do with sports performance.

Though, I do understand that she is rightfully proud of her LGBTQ+ inclusion and can help inspire others.

RGB3x3,

QUACK QUACK!

RGB3x3,

Can ducks eat burritos? It would be a shame if they can’t eat burritos.

RGB3x3,

Probably an accent issue and a misinterpretation.

It’s a reasonable mistake, imo.

RGB3x3,

Had fun watching the Halo: CE coop, Tunic (my absolute favorite game), BL2, Undertale, and the RE:4 run was really impressive.

Just found out that Cocoon was also included, so I’m watching that now.

Loved this AGDQ!

RGB3x3,

There’s no reason to treat the developers like shit though.

Gamers don’t need to act like entitled bitches about everything. Especially when they continue to play the game. Provide feedback, leave a review, and move on. There’s no excuse for rudeness.

RGB3x3,

It feels like despite all that, Microsoft has had a lot more influence on the gaming industry the last 5 years than Sony because of their Game Pass push. Sony is fine doing what they’ve been doing, which is to put out like 3 great games a year.

Microsoft has struggled with great first-party games, but their services are far more interesting.

RGB3x3,

Exactly how I feel about the Souls games. How the fuck am I supposed to make any real progress when the only resource I have to do so is lost each time I die?

I have a full time job and a kid, I don’t have time to grind out a boss for hours. Can’t I just enjoy the world with an easy mode?

RGB3x3,

I don’t even want an easy mode, per se, at the very least just a “medium” mode. Give the bosses like 5% less health, make them 5% slower, etc. Just take the edge off the difficulty so that it’s not so unbearable.

RGB3x3,

I just got to act 3 and that exposition dump after act 2 felt pretty overwhelming and it does feel like a wall. The transition was stressful and really frantic between all the dialogue and the like 5 big fights in a row.

But I’m sure the rest of the act is just fine, but it’ll be hard to push through that wall.

RGB3x3,

I actually have the same issue with Gale. Dude misses like every third shot.

RGB3x3,

Just went to their website and that shit looks like a parody of itself.

But for $220…

RGB3x3,

“Please enter your age:”

Me, 15 years old: “Yes, I was born in 1973.”

RGB3x3,

Dynamic difficulty has its place. For example, most people don’t want to die to the same boss over and over again. That’s just not good gameplay and it’s overall a waste of time.

Instead, a dynamic difficulty system could very slightly adjust some values each time you die: a few points off the enemy HP, juice your damage a bit, slow the boss down. It can be made so subtle that you don’t even notice it happening.

Resident Evil 4 has a dynamic difficulty and people praise it for that. It keeps you moving through the game instead of feeling defeated when you have to manually reduce the difficulty or when you get stuck in the same area for a long time.

RGB3x3,

The Outer Wilds has a more interesting solar system than Starfield and did it with 9 planets.

Starfield is nothing but empty filler.

RGB3x3,

The land bits would be good for navigation and strategy.

But yeah, black flag, hold the Assassin’s Creed, is all anyone wanted.

RGB3x3,

I’ve played Starfield for 30 hours and I’ve played about 10 hours now of BG3.

The difference is remarkable. As far as RPG goes, BG3 actually gives you a way to do the role-play part of RPG. You just have so much choice and your choices have consequences. For example, it turns out, someone died because I left an encounter that I wasn’t prepared for and that came back on me later when I found a guy that I should have had a quest line with.

You have relationships, you can choose several ways to approach problems and quests, and the character building is huge. There’s real strategy to everything.

Starfield is just so bland in comparison.

(BTW, BG3 combat is real difficult early on, where I’ve had to save scum just to make it past some fights, but at lvl 3 it gets more manageable. Definitely take time to learn your party’s strengths and weaknesses.)

RGB3x3,

Oh man, finally. I’m so excited to get started on it.

Now to spend an hour in the character creator…

Good gaming experiences with no HUD?

I’m starting to find that HUDs in games clutter the screen and take away from being fully immersed in the game. I like games that force you to pay attention to what’s going on in the game and not numbers/markers on the edges of the display. What are some of your favorite games to play with no HUD? Here are a few of mine:...

RGB3x3,

Alien: Isolation is genuinely the best horror game ever made and I don’t hear people talk about it enough.

RGB3x3,

Coming 2025

Fuck me, it’s still at least a year and a half off. I’d bet it’s either coming September or November 2025 or being delayed until 2026.

Which would make it at least 12 years since GTA 5’s original release. That’s absolutely nuts.

RGB3x3,

IDK, I said the same thing about Cyberpunk, No Man’s Sky, Diablo IV, Starfield, and what feels like every other AAA game that comes out these days.

Delays and long development times no longer mean quality, if they ever did.

RGB3x3,

For now, at least, Game Pass is definitely the best deal in subscriptions these days. It’s honestly wild to me that it’s not more expensive.

But for sure give it time and it’ll be like $500 a year.

RGB3x3,

It’s not the already released games they’re excited about. It’s the IP ownership. Why create something new when you can recycle old ideas for cheaper?

RGB3x3,

When are we getting a PC 2? It’s been decades.

RGB3x3,

Well of course that mouse would be too small for a Yeti.

RGB3x3,

The weird-ass Dreamcast controller. m.media-amazon.com/images/I/619JtZlXpWL.jpg

I never did figure out what the slot in the top was for as a kid.

RGB3x3,

Yeah, seriously, I’d absolutely adore this from my daughter.
