Yesterday, there was a live scheduled by Louis Grossman, titled “Addressing futo license drama! Let’s see if I get fired…”. I was unable to watch it live, but now the stream seems to be gone from YouTube....
I don’t know why he has so many followers. I think it is just because he says what people want to hear, but it doesn’t have any depth to it.
Nothing against him personally, I just think he’s annoying and also has some entrepreneur vibes that I hate. I am grateful for the right to repair activism, but the latest videos that I watched were just shallow complaining. Justified of course but… yeah.
Isn’t there a way to allow the devices to be accessed through the local network? It doesn’t need to interfere with the data collection or the encryption, you are just allowing the user to access the device locally, before it is even encrypted to be sent to the servers.
To be honest if I am choosing between two devices and one supports HA and the other doesn’t, the choice is quite obvious. I think one way to convince your higher ups is that you will be more appealing to a big niche of tech users that have elaborate IOT setups (which means $$$).
While some of their language has changed, the sentiment of this latest aggressive movement is just as distressing. It’s time for the games industry to stand up to it
Never did anyone in this steam group go out of their way to harass anyone involved with the company.
Never was it “a bunch of sexist and racist white people being upset about diversity in videogames”.
Very bold statements in favour of people that I know myself are extremely “anti diversity / anti woke”. Do you even know who the creator of the Steam group is? Guy is known for being the scum of the Brazilian WoW community.

Can’t say anything about privacy because I haven’t used their stuff enough, however I have an iPad from 2013 in perfect state that it useless because I can’t install anything on it.
I was thinking about using graphene OS, but I’ve read some lemmy users dislike this OS due to perceived misleading advertising and the pixel 7a you’re supposed to install graphene on because it’s from google (an advertising company)....
I’m currently running GrapheneOS on a Pixel 8 Pro. I use the provided sandboxed google services because of some apps (banking, etc). I use F-Droid for most of my needs. I don’t understand what you mean by misleading advertising.
If this means that I might be able to use NFC payments because alternatives to Google Pay will exist, I am very happy. Hopefully this will also make possible to F-droid to provide auto updates.
I’m confused why you would assume that there isn’t any context where someone might need to store their cards on their phone instead of carrying a wallet. Have you considering asking why instead of assuming everyone is like you? Is amazing when you get to know other perspectives.
I’ve used Windows Firewall for my whole life but I’m curious if anyone has any recommendations for a solid FOSS replacement. I do still use Windows on one of my systems on a daily basis but I always try to replace as much as possible with FOSS alternatives....

I don’t disagree with him in many aspects but I also think he’s a hypocrite in many aspects so…It just led me to stop caring about whatever he does/says
People like to take sides on the internet without doing proper research too, I think. I had this idea that Micay was toxic and kind of avoided the project for a long time. My conclusions after doing more research is that he is someone that lacks social skills and is indeed very opinionated. However, GrapheneOS isn’t made for privacy activists that can afford to use Mull instead of Vanadium, for example. GrapheneOS is made for people that cannot afford to have a phone that might leak information that could endanger their lives.
If Mikay was someone like Palmer Luckey which is a biggot that’s a whole different story. I am glad I gave GrapheneOS a try and I am very happy using it, even if it is kind of overkill for my privacy needs.

I’m looking for a way to have a private method for Tap to Pay on GrapheneOS. Ideally I would like compatibility with privacy.com, and if possible have the option for Monero. I don’t mind going through an exhaustive setup process. What are my options?...
I have seen people recommending the usage of a smart watch such as Garmin which has their own Pay application. You can check their compatibility list here. I didn’t have any luck because they support like 5 cards in Canada.
“That’s unacceptable. I have an idea: before you plan on moving to Canada, do not come if you’re going to terrorize neighbourhoods like this. It’s simple as that. You want to be a resident of Ontario? You get along with everyone,” Ford continued.
Well, I just realized they don’t support multi user which is kind of a deal breaker for us, since we are a couple sharing a homelab. We always wanted to share a few files when using Logseq and it seems this won’t be solved with Trilium either. This sucks.
I have been daily driving Linux for over two years now and I have switched distros many times. So, when my friend bought a new laptop, I convinced him to install Linux Mint on it. I asked him if he wanted to dual boot, he said no because it would fill up all his storage. We installed Linux Mint. The other day, he wanted to play...
Many replies in this thread saying that landlords aren’t the problem: If you own more than one property with the purpose of renting or flipping you are part of the problem. Why the need to sugarcoat this? You shouldn’t be paying anyone’s morgage with your rent, this is ridiculous.
In the perfect world where you can convince your company to use anything other than MS Teams and that your family bothers to use anything that isn’t WhatsApp or Telegram. Unfortunately I don’t live on it 😭
