Everyone loves listening to their favorite purchased movie while watching a black screen

Do you think people would be okay with 'Recall' if Apple did it?

With the recent WWDC apple made some bold claims about privacy when it comes to so called Apple Intelligence. This makes me wonder if they did something to what Microsoft did with Recall feature, would people be less concerned and to an extend praise their effort?...

What do you mean by that?

That’s fair. Those two locations are both at risk of a Measles outbreak but for very different reasons.

I doubt any money he’s donating to politicians is going towards any of his causes.

The House GOP just gave Biden’s campaign a huge gift: Roughly 80 percent of House Republicans just lined up behind a plan to cut Social Security and ban all abortions (www.vox.com)

Donald Trump would be on track to win a historic landslide in November — if so many US voters didn’t find him personally repugnant....

I was basically going to say the same thing, they’ll vote anyway, party over policy. It doesn’t matter what they propose. As long as Democrats disagree with it, their constituents will vote for it, standard team-driven advertising.

Most voters don’t care about politics at all, we just want what everyone else wants - a chance at opportunity, some form of health care and social security, you know, the good life. We can all pretty much agree on that and it’s really not that interesting a topic. So, politicians turn politics into a sports game because that’s what people care about and engage with, sports and competition, our old friend, Ego.

complications with circumcision happen more often than instances of it being beneficial

That’s just not true, my dude.

The American Academy of Pediatrics states that “the health benefits of newborn male circumcision outweigh the risks and that the procedure’s benefits justify access to this procedure for families who choose it. Specific benefits identified included prevention of urinary tract infections, penile cancer, and transmission of some sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.”

I’m all for choice on this topic. But they shouldn’t even call it female circumcision, as there’s no medical benefit to such a procedure, and such practice should only be referred to as female genital mutilation (or cutting).

Cultural and ascetic opinions aside, male circumcision is objectively medically beneficial.

What sources are you citing there?

The World Health Organization and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS have stated that male circumcision reduces men’s risk of acquiring HIV through sex with women by approximately 60%. In East and Southern Africa, voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) has been a WHO-recommended HIV combination prevention intervention since 2007

which is apparently an expired policy and has not been reaffirmed

The above WHO/UNAIDS report is from late 2023.

UTI rates can be lowered by teaching parents to properly wash their children.

Not sure if you’re uncircumcised and/or have children who aren’t and are speaking from experience, but the couple of friends I have that are not all spoke of difficulties maintaining cleanliness, even when showering daily and pulling the skin back to clean thoroughly. My point being it’s not typically the parents at fault here.

For HIV, they mention female to male transmission which is something that is extremely rare in the US.

Says who? Maybe relatively rare, but “extremely”?

Without a single source cited in your comment, it sounds more like virtue signaling. I’m not trying to be combative but I think some folks get caught up in an article like the OP link and wrongfully attribute it to vaguely related topics like male circumcision. Just because it’s an elective medical procedure doesn’t negate the truth of its medical benefits.

I mean, he literally said blood bath for the country. Not really any other way to take that. For his supporters and fearful on-the-fencers they can think up all sorts of literal blood bath scenarios and many figurative interpretations. The Daily Beast is no high bar outlet but he did say what he said.

Rudy Giuliani Should Be Forced To Sell Florida Condo To Pay Off Debts, Creditors Say (www.forbes.com)

The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors filed a motion in bankruptcy court on Friday to compel Rudy Giuliani to sell his $3.5 million Florida condo to pay off part of his debts, which became significantly larger after the former New York City mayor was ordered to pay more than $148 million to two election workers he...

With smart contracts on blockchain you can do exactly that. Everyone involved in the process can ensure they get their cut.

To your edit; it was a great example, but if you say anything positive about blockchain (or Apple, or capitalism, etc) you’ll likely be heavily downvoted on Lemmy.

Ha!

But yeah, like others have said in this post, it had a bad light cast on it due to the jpg and gif NFTs. Folks started to realize: “wait… this token just contains a link to a web server hosting a jpg file??”

Well, yes. But also the rights.

“The heck you mean ‘the rights’??”

I mean, your Drunk Monkey in Teal Color Theme artwork is yours to use, you’ve purchased the license in the form of an NFT.

“But it’s just a link that anyone could just copy!”

Well, that would be stealing.

So NFTs in that regard are like any movie or TV show, or video game you rent or purchase. That utility may or may not seem to have any value to any one person, but it is a utility, and a pretty cool one if you ask me. But the usage, its implementation, is what matters. Whatever that usage requirement is for the individual or business, blockchain will do it well. Even if it is used to license junk.
