newthrowaway20,

Well yeah, the award show doesn’t pay for itself. It’s not like game developers are unionized and paying for their own awards show.

newthrowaway20,

Maybe call of duty devs should focus less on what other people say and a little more on their gameplay.

newthrowaway20,

I get how it sounds, but I had the exact same situation in it freaking pissed me off to the point where I didn’t bother with any of the other side quests.

When the final upgrade requires you to keep a sword that was weaker than the sword you just got, and you’ve never kept another sword prior to this, it kind of makes sense that you think it’s okay to sell that old sword. Till it turns out you get another quest immediately after saying hey, if you have this old sword you can upgrade it. They could have avoided that whole situation if they just allowed me to buy it back. Or create it again, oh but it uses item quests that are exclusive to prior quests you can’t redo, so you really only get that one chance.

newthrowaway20,

This happened to me. I caught the djinn cheating in his spin the wheel game and didn’t let up on accusations when I should have. Worth it.

newthrowaway20,

About the only time I actually pirate a game nowadays is if it’s not available for me to download day one on Steam. Then if I did like the game, I usually end up picking it up when it makes its way to steam, after it goes on sale.

newthrowaway20,

This new game mode introduced with this version of the game has roguelike mechanics. They showed a series of environments that you would work through one after the other, with random weapon layouts, random enemy spawns, and you gaining resources to upgrade the weapons and go further and basically run till you die. The stringing of environments reminded me of slay the spire, in that it changes every time and you pick your path. But then when you’re in the environment, you’re back to normal TLOU2 gameplay with enemy encounters. I think TLOU2 had enough enemy variety and location variety that this could work really really well. Add in picking your starter character and that character having specific weapons exclusive to them, and this could end up being very fun. The gameplay in the original was fantastic.

The original game did not have any roguelike gameplay, it’s strictly linear story driven gameplay.

newthrowaway20,

So my assumption about this being a Far Cry on Pandora was pretty much spot on. Sounds like it’s too buggy for its own good too.

newthrowaway20, (edited )

I haven’t thought about Crysis in years, But I would probably end up playing this as long as it isn’t full of micro transactions

newthrowaway20,

I feel like RTS games would be perfect for Tablets with proper touch input. Make the gameplay loop good and the UI easy to use with touch and I’d be playing way more than I would sitting at my PC.

newthrowaway20,

Wow, it’s been like 5 years since this game got an update. This is surprising

newthrowaway20,

That’s strange. I was able to install and play with no configuration on my steam deck.

newthrowaway20,

Well this dude is clearly using Smurf accounts.

newthrowaway20,

After seeing how hard they worked on the trilogy, I’d prefer they never remake a game again.

newthrowaway20,

I already felt like ‘like a dragon’ was ridiculously long. I put that game down over a year ago and comment I’m just now getting back to it.

newthrowaway20,

The previous showcase of Sophy was actually pretty cool. I am curious to see how this has changed since that previous demo.

newthrowaway20,

Lol yeah I made that mistake the first playthrough.

newthrowaway20,

Yeah using the built-in steam deck streaming has been very very poor for me. Like when it works it works great, but when it drops connection just like you. It desyncs and i lose video and it’ll stay like that for minutes.

I switched to using Moonlight and sunshine, though decky and moon deck. and that seems to work a lot better for me. When I desync, the quality temporarily drops, but the game is still playable. And it’ll usually pick itself back up within a couple seconds. Way better than the built-in streaming on Steam, and moondeck will also utilize your custom controller input profile if you have one.

newthrowaway20,

Yeah, personally I think the audio mixing is a much bigger problem than the textures.

newthrowaway20,

I really appreciate these posts. Thank you for the detailed competitions!

newthrowaway20,

Back 4 Blood and Gotham Knights still aren’t worth that price.

newthrowaway20,

Honestly, I was interested in this game until the most recent re-release of the Metal Gear Solid games that Konami’s managed to fuck up.

I now 100% expect to see this game get fucked up too. If Konami can’t even handle the most basic of ports, how could we trust them to actually make a good remake of MGS 3 delta, arguably the best of the MGS series?

We shouldn’t trust them. If you have to get this game, pirate it, or pick it up on a deep deep sale way after it launches. Fuck Konami, They don’t deserve your money.

newthrowaway20,

Crouch walking was in the 3ds remake of 3. I fully expect this to be identical to that version and gameplay with no enhancements to anything except the visuals.

newthrowaway20,

Might not be a deal breaker for them cuz they’ve got machines that can power through it. It’s a deal breaker for me though.

newthrowaway20,

I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say it’s amazing. But it’s totally worth this price.

The pacing is all over, and if you hate radio buddies be prepared for a bad time. The story was also really lame. But if you can get through the halfway point, the game really opens up and gets a lot better. Your skill development follows a fun and challenging curve, and fighting hoards of zombies becomes a lot of fun. It just takes so long to get to that part of the game.

newthrowaway20,

What are the issues? I really thought this was a minimum effort port. How could they have possibly fucked that up??

newthrowaway20,

Is this a mobile game? Cuz that’s the only excuse for those graphics.

newthrowaway20, (edited )

I’ve been playing it, through less than legal means, and honestly to me it feels like a proper sequel to super Mario world. Granted I’m still relatively early in the game, and super Mario world is my all-time favorite Mario game with 3 shortly behind it, but it feels every bit is fun as those games so far. I’m absolutely going to pick it up when it releases.

newthrowaway20,

Maybe this’ll work better than the last time they dipped their toes in gaming.

newthrowaway20,

Personally, I think I would prefer they hold the game back and do whatever patches or updates they need to help with performance, rather than release a game they know is buggy. I guess it’s nice that they’re actually telling us before people buy the game, and they will be releasing updates. But frankly to me this feels like they’re going to be fighting an uphill battle when they launch the game. Plenty of people won’t see this message, and just buy the game expecting it to work, then turn sour due to the poor performance. You could end up with people refunding the game and never coming back with stuff like that.

newthrowaway20,

They’re releasing it the same week as Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and for the same price. Mario will absolutely be a better game in every way.

newthrowaway20,

Damn I just thought about it and the only home owner friend I have that isn’t a drug dealer, is a cop.

I think you’re on to something.

newthrowaway20,

Okay, I know it’s been a while since I played assassin’s Creed, but I could have sworn the original story of the games was a dude being forced into a VR machine and becoming one of his ancestors?

newthrowaway20,

My thinking exactly. He’s just giving the board what they want, and continuing to do so by taking the fall.

newthrowaway20,

I was thinking the same thing. It gets difficult to keep track of all the sexual abuse allegations between game studios.

newthrowaway20,

Honestly this is the first I even heard of this game.

newthrowaway20,

It is baffling why Sony thinks studios who are known for their single player story driven games will all the sudden be rock stars at GAAS model games. No matter how it turns out, you’ve already got a dedicated fan base for these companies expecting a single player story driven game. These types of gamers have no interest whatsoever in micro transaction riddled online experiences. And by diverting developers away from single player content towards GAAS content, they’ll make worse single player games and half hearted multiplayer online games.

newthrowaway20,

I know it sucked, but I hate the idea of a game being gone forever.

newthrowaway20,

I get that, but to me it all feels like cookie cutter material. Maybe I’m not searching right, and maybe I haven’t discovered enough, but I can’t help but feel extremely whelmed.

newthrowaway20,

Form a Professional Game Developers Union.

newthrowaway20,

It’s a gatcha game that goes through the main stories of the previous FF7 games, while also including new stories from The First Soldier, And other stories planned from other games like Before Crisis. It’s not full games, you essentially play little missions where you go through the key story point in those games.

I tried it out for a little bit, but the story pieces were a little too bite size for my liking, and I absolutely hate gatcha mechanics, so it’s really not for me personally. I’m not interested in dressing up my character in outfits or leveling up my gear.

newthrowaway20,

I feel like the gameplay and traversal was a lot more fun, but the story in the first one is way way better.

newthrowaway20,

Bout fuckin time. Only took what, 3 years??

newthrowaway20,

I have no problem with someone getting paid for their work. In fact, I encourage people to get paid for their work. But if you decide to sabotage your own product for the sake of attacking people who refuse to pay for it, you just make your product worse for everyone who did pay for it and you do nothing to actually solve the piracy issue. In that case, you’re reaping what you sow.
