purplemonkeymad,

It had really good reflections too, that intro with the wet brick castle was really impressive when it came out.

purplemonkeymad,

Yea, this is not cheap companies doing cheap things. This is companies getting annoyed by stupid licencing and restrictions, getting around the problem.

purplemonkeymad,

HL supported software mode, it used the same render from quake for it. It was however very slow. For more modern CPUs it would be fine but for common CPUs at the time 15fps would be a good experience.

3dfx was good but the cards started to struggle with the likes of HL and UT. Both were playable, but not super smooth.

purplemonkeymad,

But sony are different, they won’t end up returning to steam like the others have!

Perhaps they are bolstered by that fact epic have done ok. But do they have enough free games to pull off the same plan?

purplemonkeymad,

The path to neutrality by any means nessasary!

purplemonkeymad,

You are aware that first amendment protects speech from government actions/bodies only. It’s not something you can use against a private business (there are other laws for discrimination.)

purplemonkeymad,

Sure, but that term does not violate the first amendment since the government didn’t stop you from saying it, so would hold up. You might be able to get it thrown out due to something else, you would need a lawyer for that.

That contract will have penalties for violations, and those are what you would be subject to if in violation.

purplemonkeymad,

Same ish in the UK, (12h before this post), being outside made a difference so don’t watch it behind glass. Light pollution was definitely the biggest factor to visibility.

purplemonkeymad,

Did they think about how far I would have to move my hand to type it? Sudo is only in two easy to reach places on the keyboard, run0 is 4 separate areas of the keyboard, one two rows from home and none on the home row.

I’m only partially joking.

purplemonkeymad,

In the how this works section they detail that it comes from MDM solutions. In English this is a feature for it admins of companies who use the intune management software from Microsoft. You probably need pro or better to even use the feature.

At a quick glance, it looks to be a way of whitelisting domains at a DNS level, but with the added feature of having allowed DNS servers.

Wanting to dual boot Windows with Kubuntu. Am I fine getting a Windows 10 key instead of 11?

A couple of months ago, I wiped Windows off my old laptop and installed Kubuntu instead. Now, I was thinking of dual booting Windows additionally for a certain game (definitely not League of Legends, for sure not) and will need to buy a new key. Am I fine getting a copy of Windows 10 despite Microsoft’s discontinuation, or...

purplemonkeymad,

This must have been xp or earlier. Since vista there was a shared key and certificate for each OEM that paired with a code on the motherboard. And since 8 or 10 there is now a key in the motherboard that has been pre-registered with the activation servers. Now when you activate a retail key, it registers the motherboard not the install, so a reinstall gets activated automatically.

purplemonkeymad,

If I paid for starfield I would have felt annoyed about it. Played it on game pass so probably spent half price or less on the subscription time. It was fine, but not full price fine.

purplemonkeymad,

I love what the ubisoft launcher dones when it needs an update. Not telling me, but when you press play on a game it instantly closes, no warnings. Then 30s later it pops up saying it’s updating (with uac prompt.) Then launches the game.

I get it, but just change the play button to say ‘update client and play.’ Or have a banner at the top to say it needs an update.

purplemonkeymad,

I would assume it’s like the snow car where it has it’s own reactions to surfaces.

purplemonkeymad,

Brakes on cars are a hydraulic system. The check is for the fluid levels of the hydraulics. Without enough fluid, pressing the brake pedal would not depress the pads.

purplemonkeymad,

At least if a modder picks a random spot for their content it’s unlikely to conflict with any other mods.
