It’s older math, Sir, but it checks out.

Your hands are supposed to be clean from washing with soap and water. The dryer is just there to make your hands dry because moving around with wet hands isn’t very comfortable.

Looking to get into android development

I want to start learning android dev and I understand that I’ll need the android sdk and cli tools. I want to try it in a kvm because even though it is open source, I would like to keep it separate from my main system. Which distro and vm settings do you suggest I use? Any other tips or your experience with android development...

Debian-based distros are usually the ones with the most official support and documentation with regard to Android.

Windows -> OpenSUSE Tumbleweed -> Ubuntu -> Debian GNU/Linux -> EndeavourOS

Currently using Debian and EndeavourOS in parallel as the distributions I have settled on.

Why are they all clothed so strangely?

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Discovery | 5x10 "Life, Itself"

LoglineSeries Finale. Trapped inside a mysterious alien portal that defies familiar rules of time, space, and gravity, Captain Burnham must fight Moll – and the environment itself – in order to locate the Progenitors’ technology and secure it for the Federation. Meanwhile, Book puts himself in harm’s way to help Burnham...

Definitely a fabulous ending, but the tie-in with Calypso only made me more curious about what all that is about. Maybe there’s potential for a follow-up show now that the 4th millennium has been thoroughly established.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Lol I mean I kinda feel it, but for me it’s more like some kind of inertia with regard to meeting people, when I’m actually there I’m having a blast and could stay for days, but deciding to go is the hard part

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Genuinely one of the best Star Trek shows imo. The camaraderie, science, techno-babble, mix of half-episodic-half-serialised plots, novelty, philosophical themes and depth of characterisation combine to make something truly worthwhile to watch. I hated Discovery before season 3, but ever since that, it was on a very steep ascent in quality! I still don’t like that it’s always galaxy-ending threats and that Burnham is so entitled, but no Trek is perfect :)

Ig you are looking at the asbestos wall wall with stone wool?

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Whoa, I don’t know whether that’s a reference to something or a joke, but it is insanely evil to say that in the face of OP’s struggles (about which you can read further below).

I have a level that is a tribute to The Stanley Parable in my game, here is my progress. Any feedback? (lemmy.world)

My game is called Do Not Press The Button (To Delete The Multiverse) and in it I have a multiverse called A Universe Where This Game Was Made By People With Actual talent and it’s a “What If” the Crow Crows Crows guy made my game. I think it’s turning out good. What do you think? Here is my Steam Page

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Please make sure that you distribute your game without DRM. Steam games are more often than not a miss rather than a hit.

As you said yourself, there are certain low-latency solutions that pretty much eliminate any disadvantage that wireless headphones could have.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Wow you are stupid, aren’t you? It’s called a joke and not a debate.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

I think we should be thankful for having users contribute long-form thought-out content like this, instead of ridiculing them.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

All of those things have nothing to do with GNU/Linux and everything with the desktop environment you chose.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Okay, but understand that from for example my point of view, your perception appears really skewed because my GNU/Linux installations have never “destroyed [themselves] after a while”. Respectfully, I think that you project your Linux failures unto the entire ecosystem, based on issues that were unique to you.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Oh man, the ending for Ep. 9 was just insanely cool! It saddens me so much that the show is almost over :(

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

As I understood it, it was actually the scientists that put the portal there.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

The moon has a volume of 21,971,669,064 km³. I am very certain that you could fill the area in question with that!

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

No, the grantor requires fees. Screen time is just a bonus

DISCO S5 has been phenomenal

Two episodes to go. I’m gutted this is going to be the end, just as the show truly found its stride and grew the beard. Feels a lot like the end of Enterprise. Every season has been better than the last, and the earlier episodes were pretty good. I recently started rewatching S1 after getting an IRL friend into it and he’s...

ricdeh, (edited )
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Right, especially season 4 and season 5 were (are) phenomenal! Genuinely, without any irony or sarcasm, I must say that imo, the last 15 or so episodes of Discovery are some of the best Trek ever made

Edit: spelling

Hopefully, not all is lost. He has appealed and hopefully a greater authority will overturn this ruling.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

lmao this is too good, I would laugh but I’ll be too busy (because I’ll be meeting a girl, not that you are really going to understand)

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Then let’s go back to ploughing our fields by hand, surely that will create many new employment opportunities!

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Why .fr lol?

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Lol any kind of flash storage suffers from degradation over time, it doesn’t matter whether you attach a computer to it or not

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Since when do you need a “hotpad” to pick up a pan?

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

You should have made that decision a long time ago, but you know what they say, better late than never!

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you kindly for your good write-up. If you were to permit it I would like to use excerpts of this in slightly rephrased forms in similar future discussions.

So Firefox Nightly on the Raspberry Pi?

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

KDE Discover? Surely looks better than whatever this is

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t think that that would be a good idea, most people would assume them to be a nazi lol

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Not really a harmless one, it is a typical outgrowth of the American hypernationalism and an utterly jingoist tradition in the sense that it glorifies the military that really doesn’t deserve any glorification anymore.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

No, they are not. Sovereign countries are bound by the WTO (World Trade Organisation), not US export laws.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

I kind of feel coerced by that text into sending a copy of OpenSUSE Leap to some obscure nuclear missile programme now, just for the sake of it

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe consult the literature they linked? I don’t know what special enlightenment you received that you know better than anyone else in the world about the US Constitution First Amendment, but regardless, in the scope of the topic (cryptographic algorithms), they are completely right.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

There is free speech in pretty much every capitalist country on the planet, but not in a single communist or socialist country of the present or past.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

They can do that, but that’s not the topic of the post.

ricdeh,
@ricdeh@lemmy.world avatar

I am pretty sure all of the KDE suite software does not use Electron. Or are you using Windows?
