soloner,

Wife spilled some beer in the keyboard. Screen doesn’t turn on, it doesn’t hold a charge, keyboard doesn’t work. But we need sensitive data off the drive.

Take it to their “genius” bar where we are told there is nothing that can be done for the old data and we should just buy a new one.

I take it home, Google a bit and try target disk mode. Et Voila I’m in and can get that data from the hard drive as though it was an external HDD.

Why the Apple “genius” didn’t share this option with me? They don’t actually care about helping.

And that’s the rub with Apple. They don’t give a fuck about their users or developers. Just want to herd them around to make more money off their overpriced garbage.

soloner,

Chat gpt just loves pointing out twists!

soloner,

I really wanted to like the first one but felt like the puzzles and movement were so tedious.

To be fair I generally play videogames stoned, which generally I always find enjoyable even on cerebral puzzle games like talos principle. in fact, I like being high cuz it makes it harder.

But senuas first game trying to walk around and match the pattern against the environment was absolutely miserable to do high, and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have enjoyed it sober either.

I loved the combat, but that was so infrequent it didn’t keep me engaged. Finally after dying and having to restart and do a puzzle section all over again I said fuck it and uninstalled.

soloner,

I’m eager to revisit NV and 3 soon… I did 4 modded survival mode about a year ago and that was some fun shit.

76 is also on my radar as I’ve heard it has improved tremendously to be a respectable offering, even if not the best in the series.

soloner,

Hahaha knick knack… Just watched this EP it was pretty good.

soloner,

Ok let’s poll Lemmy. Upvote me if you can. Downvote me if you can’t. I can so I’ll keep my own upvote.

soloner,

your microwave is so clean! Very nice!

soloner,

Are they?

soloner,

Banks have laws and regulations that they must abide by to secure the access to and information of customer accounts. A security team will surely have to sign off on whatever the app developer or customer experience manager wants to implement.

Biden’s populist budget marks the overdue end of trickle-down economics (thehill.com)

A president’s budget proposal is seldom passed into law. Instead, it’s an expression of the priorities the president promises to fight for, often coming on the heels of an agenda laid out in the State of the Union address....

soloner,

How does it encourage them to hire more employees?

soloner,

Well there’s also just a lot more games now, and even retro games that have been around are competing (I’m playing RE1 for example, bought it recently cuz I’ve never played it before)

So I don’t think it’s intrinsically due to other life costs being high. When you have games like battlebit and palworld and lots of ftp games just saturating the market it’s hard to justify charging so much. People literally don’t have the lifespan to play all the games that exist and will continue to be created over time.

soloner,

You can’t just buy a house and sell it for a higher price. You are either flipping it to raise its value which is a lot of work or sitting and holding the house and waiting for it to appreciate. Product scalpers don’t have to-do either, nor do they have to pay interest on the loan like they would a mortgage.

Product scalpers rely on sudden bulk purchase of a limited supply batch of products. Unless you’re a mega millionaire you can’t do that with housing. So I don’t think you should consider it unethical to buy a second home and rent out. It is a valid source of income.

soloner,

“person” is the only safe one afaik. Just go from specific to general and you’re good. You also get to sound like a robot.

soloner,

My logic would be it’s a component you shouldn’t need to upgrade. Whereas the motherboard and everything attached + hard drive can all be updated as better components are made.

So since it’s one of the few “lifetime” components, might as well get a nice one that lasts.

soloner,

Growth mode only to go into shrink mode some years from now at employee (and likely consumer) expense… Why can’t companies just go for stable mode?

soloner,

Real question: what do anarchists expect society to do/become and why is it better?

Nuanced answers only

soloner,

Yes! Enough of the “I’m doing my part meme” that isn’t even real content.
