Oh yes, it’s the minimum wage worker who is at fault because they need gas to drive the only available means of conveyance. Surely if they just walked the twenty miles to work, we’d breathe easier.
Sarcasm is meant to drive introspection. My point was that, in your wide reaching claim of “blame everyone”, YOU include the minimum wage worker with no options. In fact, I’d argue that most Americans have no reasonable option to cars. I’d also argue that this is by design and mostly influenced by oil producing companies and the politicians they have bought.
But if you think that we can solve this crisis by blaming people with no options, then please help me understand how that works.
No offense to the great Patricia Tallman, the fantastic actor and stunt person largely known for her work on Babylon 5 as well as the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. The wide eyes just seemed an odd choice....
People don’t start joy riding like mad when the price goes down. The continue to just go to work, to the store, and all the normal stuff. Maybe a couple people road trip more when gas hits $2, but not a significant number.
It costs a lot of money to store gasoline. Why would we keep paying for that when we could release it and pump a million less barrels out of the earth?
Tapping reserves means less pumping, not more burning.
I typically don’t care about things like hairstyle, makeup or clothes. But my wife has started giving herself a buzz cut and I simply hate it. I told her and she grew it out for a while, but she said longer hair was making her depressed and it needed to be a buzz cut. She said it just looks like her when she sees it. Part of...
PETA. Those people who tell you how to live because of their morality? Who judge those outside their group as inferior? Who are horrible hypocrites who murder animals while espousing the opposite? People consider them leftists?
And you think those people are correct enough to give voice to their opinion.
There’s a pipeline of people that go from granola to fascism. And that pipeline runs right through PETA.
Well either they were stupid, or they knew exactly what they were doing.
I used to think that you should never attribute to malice what’s easily explained by stupidity. And as I’ve grown up, I find a lot of malicious assholes hide behind stupidity.
They’re not stupid. The know it’s not worth chasing the left. The left is relatively small and HUGE into purity culture. Not the religious kind, but the kind where they’ll reject you for not being perfect enough. Just look at all the people whining that Biden is only reclassifying weed and not legalizing. The left as it is today will never be content with half measures, and will happily protest and not vote, so they arent worth the effort of chasing.
So Dems have to chase the other end.
If we want change, it’ll have to be leftists joining the Democratic party and changing from within. Because strategically, the left doesn’t help Dems win.
The reality is that the Democrats want to win, and chasing the left isn’t how you win. There just aren’t enough people on the left in the US to make it worth it. And many leftists who exist have the same attitude as you mention. I.e. the Dems aren’t doing enough so fuck them.
If all you wanted to do was win, what would your strategy be? How many leftists do you think are in the US to even be rallied? I think if there were that many, we’d see third parties winning at the state or local level.
