I feel like companies were all hoping to get in early, to get a solid chunk of the cake. Well, and then a lot more companies got in than anyone could have guessed, so the slices of the cake are a lot smaller.
We’ll have to see what happens, though. It’s possible that the startups have to give up and only a few big fish remain. But if those have to increase prices to become profitable, this market will still be a lot smaller than people were hoping for.
It was pretty cool. I went with friends, and we got very drunk on a drink called a Warp Core Breach and then did the experience. I remember being impressed at the pacing and the acting of the members running the ride.
This was during the Borg 4D period, and it was pretty novel for the time. A pain to get to from the strip, though, probably part of its undoing.
Google has not been interested in providing value to end-users for a while now. They are at the point in the enshittification process where because of their monopoly in search, they are able to stop providing value to their paying customers as well (sites that use AdWords, etc.) and just line their own pockets.
AI is just the next 'big thing' that amounts to nothing. 90% of what anyone says in the press/media is total nonsense. And most AI researchers are downplaying the hype because they know it's all bullshit and AI will ultimately not be a major change anymore than navigation systems in cars was. It is merely convenience and those that 'rely' on it will end up in trouble.
It's a complementary technology, not a revolution.
Thanks for sharing! This loosely reminds me of 'I Hit It With My Axe' (a very, very old series where porn stars played D&D together for the first time). I loved these queens in Drag Race so seeing them playing one of my favourite tabletop games is sure to be a real treat c:
