YYYY-MM-DD forever!

Eggyhead,

Totally, but maybe we don’t need that year right up at the front, since most readers already know the year. Maybe we can bump just that part to the back to make it a little more readable.

KazuyaDarklight,

Year at the front makes all records perfectly sortable over time. It’s there for the long haul.

Is that something people were asking for?

So the next city iteration will be a few buildings between massive parking lots and barely any pedestrian crossings or even sidewalks while all the streets are congested as fuck and it takes you ages to get anywhere because everything is so far apart?

Right, because manhole covers were the biggest issue…

No more incorrectly used German manhole covers?

NigelFrobisher, to games in iOS ports of Resi 4, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Death Stranding sold poorly, estimates suggest. High-end Apple device owners don’t appear to be rushing to buy triple-A games

They’re not AAA games on an iPhone - they’re tech demos.

Ugurcan, to games in iOS ports of Resi 4, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Death Stranding sold poorly, estimates suggest. High-end Apple device owners don’t appear to be rushing to buy triple-A games

Owning a high end Apple device strongly suggests owning a high end console as well. Maybe the target demographics (rich gamers) already own those games on their favorite platform, so why buy it twice.

Does the iPhone support Bluetooth/wired controllers? I can’t imagine myself buying one of those just to play Assassins creed on a small screen.

kinkles,

It does

conciselyverbose,

Bluetooth, yeah. Wired might or might not still need to be specifically for iPhone, though.

I use a backbone and it’s pretty nice. Wouldn’t buy any of the listed games for iPhone at full retail but I only pay that for a couple games I really care about.

I think it’s a good thing that they are available on that store so whenever a better device comes from apple that can run them, that will be the moment they will truly shine. But iphone 15 and ipad? I guess not.

Turns out people don’t wanna pay console/PC prices to play games on their mobile devices. Who knew.

newthrowaway20,

An inferior version of the game, by all accounts too. Worse graphics and performance.

Because it has the graphical horsepower of an iPhone 4s

Well most of these AAA ports aren’t exactly new and people interested in AAA gaming likely already have something like a PC, gaming console or Steam Deck, which are all better suited to these types of games, because they have more power than a mobile device and/or built-in controllers.

Like, what is the setup for playing at home? Mirror an iPad to an Apple TV via AirPlay to play on your TV with a Bluetooth controller?

And on the go, you either need a bluetooth controller and a way to hold your iPhone while holding the controller, or get one of these clip-on controllers.

Then there’s pricing, with the games often being a lot cheaper at least on Steam.

dpkonofa,

Exactly this. I would 100% buy AC: Mirage if it worked on my Apple TV natively (since you can use a controller) and Ubisoft didn’t suck a big fat donkey dick. They can go to hell with their Ubisoft Connect bullshit.

Would Nintendo even allow it?

SchmidtGenetics,

Why not, they are one store front with prolific shovelware still.

Chozo,

I think Shadow is referring to Palworld's similarities to Pokemon. There had been a lot of tension over whether or not Nintendo would try to sue the Palworld dev, so it stands to reason that selling something so contentious on Nintendo's own platform might be a bit awkward.

Kolanaki,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

It was only contentious among fans. Nintendo literally said they didn’t give a single shit about Palworld.

Monster Hunter is on Nintendo. And Nintendo themselves make Pokemon. So I guess it’s okay to have killing or enslavement, but allowing both is bad? 🤨

Nintendo doesn’t really restrict things in that way. It would be very strange for them to block a game from publishing on switch for those reasons.

    Zahille7,

Right? Like they’re not exactly the “family friendly” company just because they have simple games with cartoonish art styles.

Wasn’t Leisure Suit Larry on GameCube? And there were a few zombie games for the Wii and Wii U.

    SchmidtGenetics,

Why not? Lots of games have that already.

    SchmidtGenetics,

    What tension? Fans being stupid?

Nintendo is litigious yea, but there’s hundreds of emulators out there that haven’t been sued, they only sue people who do blatantly illegal stuff they can sue them for. What has palworld done that’s illegal?

Emulators are legal, so they leave the legal ones, they go after the ones perpetuating the illegal parks, like Yuzu.

    brlemworld,

Why is this even a question? Nintendo shouldn’t have any say whatsoever on what people get to play on their own fucking hardware.

    sugar_in_your_tea,

But they do because they control their developer ecosystem.

I agree that consoles should allow competing stores, but that’s not the current reality.

Red_October, to games in Palworld boss says a Switch version ‘might be hard for technical reasons’

The technical reasons including but not limited to “Nintendo told us to go fuck ourselves.”
