They absolutely do screw indoor air quality though, which is why I plan on installing a gas wok burner in my outdoor kitchen once I can afford to.
This. Read some studys about it recently. Didn’t know it was such a big issue before. My bedroom is literally like 4m away from the kitchen and my flatmates never close doors when I’m gone :D
I’m not sure if you know what objective truth means, but why would you expect it from an anticar lobby sub? Like, it’s a political movement… not a scientific research facility? It’s not their goal to be objective, but to push for change. Not saying the things they stated are wrong, but they are first and foremost moral statements.
I mean we’re here in the comments to exchange perspectives primarily. Never saw anyone quoting research papers. There’s no rule about forbidding comments to be biased or opinionated. So I’d say our access to any form of potential objective truth, as fundamental basis for discussion, is fairly limited. World news is not only about scientifically validated facts. It’s rather a fast paced informational feed, where you have to balance speed and factual quality.
And we had context for the anticar lobby comment, so it’s not like the person said: look, here is the irrefutable truth from an independent source. They rather said: Look here are some reasons for why XYZ is bad.
I don’t have a problem with it, besides it being a lazy and hard to read solution.
It’s fairly secure that it works, because it’s basically setting up a VPN connection that effectively blocks every network traffic outside of the tunnel.
But if you wanna be 100% sure you need to invest either the time or root your phone.
I’m not a skater, but I do parkour and I really can’t stress this enough.
If you know how to fall it takes away your fear, because you know how to act when it happens. And pro skaters are damn good at falling, even from a parkour perspective.
Their motivation might be to get the kids hooked on the stuff early on. Sugar works like a drug in some ways by releasing dopamine in the brain and if you train your brain early on it will affect it longterm. Plus it will influence their future taste preferences. Everything else, besides Nestle’s oversugared snacks will taste bland in comparison. Leading to kids crying at supermarket checkouts to get their favourite snacks :D

Depends on the perspective. Imo it’s structural issues that can be solved if you rework the structure. Most people who don’t pay for their tickets don’t have the money, but would pay if it would be affordable.
In Germany you could see this happen when they pushed the 9€ ticket where you could travel all of Germany for the month… for 9€.
It was a huge success and I’m sure many people who didn’t buy tickets before did buy them then, simply because it was affordable, accessible and more chill.
Tbh I wouldn’t mind my kids looking at their phones… what does it matter if the games they play are analog or digital? I’m talking about the sitting in the restaurant kind of situation, where kids usually draw, read or do other stuff to entertain themselves.
Yeah but if your kids are young they see you every day, so… it’s different if you don’t see each other often.
And my example was more meant for people who argue that they are fine with kids drawing when you’re out for food (which most younger kids do), but are annoyed when they use a phone to play.
That’s a subjective thing I would say. Many people on here would agree that playing a game can also turn into a conversation. If my kids were to play Pokemon or Zelda for example, I could engage with it quite well. It just depends if you know the franchise/culture, making it easier to resonate with.
And tbh I didn’t particularly enjoy my family looking at my drawings when I was younger, cause I didn’t wanna get a comment about it.
