Ubuntu was my first distro because ubuntu was linux for outsiders many years ago. Any other distro was only for hardcore people. I don’t regret hopping around the linux world.
I’ve been recently looking into watching my weight and diet again. I had used Noom in the past and really liked their services, but then it came out that they were essentially wiretapping everyone. It seems like every health focused app is selling health information now....
Why is it not stated which research paper? By whom? It’s just a reproduction of what they do which is good but the guy reporting about it acts like it’s breaking news.
I don’t mean for this to become a KDE vs GNOME post. I’m looking at switching to Fedora (because Arch is a pain), and it seems that GNOME is more supported. I use KDE on Arch. What features would I be losing if I were to switch? (ex: toolbar management, KRunner, etc.)
Ubuntu has too many problems for me to want to run it. However, it has occurred to me that there aren’t a lot of distros that are like the Ubuntu LTS....
Fedora introduced a whole new distro where you can’t install anything with dnf anymore and people love it. People love using flatpaks instead (yes I know of all the shortcomings, but you can always choose another install method for that broken package). And ubuntu users just hate ubuntu for what they do. The difference may also be that fedora gives a choice to the user and does not directly force it
You could do that. With that image everything is vompletely equal on the user device which means that debugging is much easier. Ublue makes distributing custom fedoras increadibly easy.

You should do a better job updating your documentation so that people do not waste their time like I did. This change to closed source was announced where, exactly? All of your READMEs and documentation sites do not mention this. Very easy to be confused and very disappointing to me that this went closed-source.
Not only did you sell out, you also removed all the old versions that were released under an open source license so that others couldn’t continue to use out-of-support versions. DISGUSTING.
tl;dr get off GitHub and npm entirely if you want to do the closed-source thing, kthx.
Sorry for this and others. That’s a horrible experience.
GNOME looks better out of the box and configuring KDE can be very tricky. There are also a lot of outdated “addons” for KDE and you need some in order to get what you want. extensions are better integrsted in KDE but it’s not like KDE has everything out of the box. I’d love to see more KDE support.
apparently there is a preview plugin for kate docs.kde.org/…/kate-application-plugin-preview.ht… , it’s already preinstalled. It works with markdown files, I guess if someone would be down, he could extend the plugin to work with typst
You can easily add POIs with streetcomplete, osmand or directly on osm.org . Just add POIs whenever you search for it and it is missing. It’ll take some time depending on your area but if you don’t start today, there won’t be an alternative for you tomorrow. Ask a friend to do the same. My area has more pois and details and is more up to date and the location is more accurate than google.

I met people who didn’t know youtube was google. The “instagram by facebook” should be mandatory like “made in germany” for all goods and brands.
“Made in germany” was invented by the British to show its citizens which products were locally made and which were foreign to boost local production. It backfired hard and people prefered German goods.
I thought you wanted something that’s not google? You’ve got the chance to contribute to it. You don’t have to, but if you do, the places you visited will be there much faster. In my area there’s everything by now and much more than google has
Typst uses discord instead of matrix. Discord is proprietary and you can use discord only under discords terms which leaves out a couple of people. You can’t just browse the chat rooms. It’s not easy to use and simply behind modern open standards.
I mean that there is no proper forum for typst. E.g. discourse.julialang.org discourse.nixos.org/ discuss.grapheneos.orgcommunity.openstreetmap.org discussion.fedoraproject.org/ modern or updated projects all use discourse. There is no proper room where users can ask simple questions. Something like stack overflow but not stack overflow. A forum specifically for interested people. Github discussions should not be used for a user forum. Github discussions should be for discussions around the language, if you want to use github for that.
