I’ve been working on converting my gaming PC to Linux for a few weeks, but everything is running, but it all is just a little jankier than I would like....
I switched my gaming PC to Linux a few months back. I distro hopped for a while due to various issues, and landed on openSUSE Tumbleweed. Everything just works (except for the occasional bug in the updates where I have to wait for the next snapshot for a fix, but that’s NBD).
Caveat: I’m all AMD so no Nvidia stuff to worry about. YMMV.
I can’t imagine a different distro would be any different.
BZZZZZZZZZZZT I’m sorry but that answer was not correct. Next player!
Seriously try some of the other distros and you’ll have a much more pleasant experience. I already recommended Tumbleweed in another reply but man, anything but Arch is gonna be an improvement for somebody trying to make the switch from Windows gaming for the first time.
Indeed. I haven’t run into a modern game that it can’t handle. The only thing it has struggled with that I play is old Command & Conquer titles, but that’s a Proton issue.
Todd successfully drove me away. Didn’t buy Fallout 76 or Starrim after having purchased every single Fallout and Elder Scrolls game all the way back to Arena. Nice work Todd.
NMS is a lot of fun. I’ve done a couple run throughs of that game to the end and it’s always a good time, even if it does get a bit shallow after many many hours. Enjoy it!
It’s fun and I enjoyed my time with it, but once you understand how the zombie waves work it’s very, very easy to build a cheez defense against them, and then there’s no difficulty anymore.
As long as you don’t look up guides on how to build the cheese bases you’ll enjoy yourself.
That’s actually a common misconception. Not to downplay the significance of what Shatner and Nichols pulled off to get around the various censors (ruining alternate takes and such), but many TV shows did it before Star Trek.
Sure there are plenty of good FPS games all the time. Me and my friends are in our early to late 40’s so it’s hard for us to get anything together for long periods of time since we all have Real Life™ going on. But every once in a while a game just hits, and DMZ had everyone in my clan hyped and we all played together regularly for a few months. It was truly awesome and just like the old days when we played Quake and Tribes together.
Then they started spitting out p2w shit and it just sucked the wind out of everyone’s sails.
Well the time travel thing is extremely high risk, so sending her back wouldn’t be easy, nor chosen lightly. Plus her skills as a marine biologist would be invaluable to keep the time traveling whales healthy and alive so they didn’t have to go back and get more next time the probe came around.
But yeah, they did seem to just hand her a uniform and throw her at a starship, eh?
Hi everyone, I did stumble across adguard and was thinking about buying a family lifetime license (for the apps, not talking about adguard home here)....
No thanks, I quit playing DMZ when they started talking about adding p2w shit so that you’d have an edge right at the match start. Any game that does stuff like that is a non-starter. At least ubisoft was dumb enough to tell us up front.
Your last line is a sentence fragment, Mr. English Professor. There are several other errors in your masterful takedown of the good doctor’s command of the English language.

I have an urge to buy some of them on steam before they get delisted but don’t want to give any money to wb in the process. The way that apparently devs could just leave or sell/give away the game on other platforms made me think maybe wb doesn’t get a cut of every sale. Does anyone know that for certain?
Would a Federation warship like the Defiant out gun a Star Wars Star Destroyer? Who has a bigger armada? Who has the tactical advantage? This feeling has stopped me for a while. I already made a post here a few days ago about my feelings about breaking up. I haven’t done it yet because I’m waiting will we have at least a session with my psychologist....
Not sure how many different ways you need to hear it (I read your last thread) but just get out. It will almost certainly not get better in the long run. Everything you post about this guy is straight out of the Domestic Abuser’s Handbook.
I grew up in an abusive household. Abusers don’t change. He’s being nice to you now, as soon as he feels ‘safe’ again the abuse will resume.
They absolutely lost a sale here on DD2 with that bullshit. It’s pure greed and I won’t support it lest ALL games end up with the cesspit of mtx that (almost) every online game has these days.
Midnight Suns was like that for me. The tactical combat was interesting and could have had replay value, but all the chores and conversations you have to do to progress the story made this a “no way” for a second playthrough. Absolutely worth it to go through once though, if you are into turn based combat games and marvel characters.
Yeah I almost gave up too, it did become a bit of a slog in the middle with all the back and forth collecting shit and chatting everyone up. Definitely has some pacing issues.
EDIT: I’ve only just remembered a crucial detail. The game is a highly detailed voxel game (similar looking to Teardown) and the terrain, as well as the enemies are fully destructable. I remember in the trailer, his gun was not only carving through the walls but he was shooting pieces off of the enemies too. The voxel enemies...
I have spent an inordinate amount of time searching for this game because it sounds like something I’d like to play. I checked all the Summer Game Fest announcements, and did many (many!) web searches and just couldn’t find anything else that seems to fit the bill. I did find a few dwarf voxel shooters but they are all a year or two old already. My suggestion would be to look through steamdb and see if anything looks familiar from the logo you saw: steamdb.info/search/?a=app&q=dwarf&type=1…
Sorry I can't do it.
