Gimpydude,

I was born in 1968. I definitely remember the duck and cover drills. Our school was a fallout shelter & they would rotate out the supplies every now and then. All the way up to high school. This is in the northeast.

Gimpydude,

I have no idea if you put “white color crimes” by mistake or on purpose, but I’m going to use that, especially related to politics.

Gimpydude,

Do that while explaining how that contract clause works!

Gimpydude,

Hey also flight documentation check laws. Most employers have to validate your eligibility to work, farmers do not. They can also pay substantially less to illegal immigrants and depend on this. They do not want them to have a legal path because that will cost them money. The system only works for them if they are illegal.

Gimpydude,

In my mid 50’s. I use a steam deck and my PC running Linux.

Gimpydude,

Similar for me. I went with PopOS this time, and it all just works. I’m thinking of switching to KDE Neon, just because I’m a KDE fan. One piece of advice I have is to have your home directory on it’s own so that if you do switch distros, you just install to the system drive and you don’t affect your data.

Gimpydude,

Star Trek first came out in September '66. Dune was first published in August '65.

Gimpydude,

Totally. Doesn’t make it less fun though!

Gimpydude,

Too many articles & videos use shitty AI to not say anything just to get the clicks.

Gimpydude,

Really appreciate that too.

France votes to ban ‘forever chemicals,’ exempting frying pans (www.politico.eu)

The French National Assembly on Thursday unanimously adopted a bill aimed at restricting the manufacture and sale of products containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances — also known as PFAS or “forever chemicals.” The MPs, backed by the government, voted to exclude kitchen utensils from the scope of the text....

Gimpydude,

I’d add carbon steel pans as well. They’re the good tradeoff between stainless and cast iron.

Gimpydude,

Yeah, I do that too. Cast iron is amazing for stuff like that.

Gimpydude,

Specifically, he wanted to see if he could prove that Denuvo kills performance as much as many people believe.

This can be done without cracking it. There have been several games that have removed this DRM, as well as some who have added it post-publication. Benchmarks between versions should highlight the performance issues.

Also, fuck Denuvo.

Gimpydude,

God-tier shit post. I hope this becomes legendary copypasta.

EA just added classics like Dungeon Keeper, SimCity 3000, and Populous on Steam (www.theverge.com)

There hasn’t been a lot of good news out of EA lately, but here’s some: the company just launched a bunch of classic games on Steam. The new (old) releases include nine games in total, spanning franchises like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, and SimCity....

Gimpydude,

I’m OK with them wanting to keep making money from it as long as they update it for compatibility with newer operating systems. Selling something they have completely abandoned us not cool.

Gimpydude,

I stood and watched the first tower fall. One of my brothers was in 5 World Trade, another in 7 World Trade. They’re both still alive, but saw people jump. I get it’s been a long time, and people should be able to make memes like this. To this day, I still can’t watch any shows or TV shows even remotely related to the towers falling. This definitely still affects people.

Gimpydude,

Someone call the amber lamps! This guy just burnt himself drinking the bone apple tea!

Gimpydude,

You can sous vide eggs to pasteurize them and they are still raw. That’s what they do when they make cookie dough to eat raw.

Gimpydude,

Jumpman and Loom (Commodore 64) really stand out.

Gimpydude,

A creeper blows up behind me while I’m punching a tree.
