I don’t really understand how people make the review threads, but we’re sitting at a 77 on OpenCritic right now. Many were worried about game performance after the recommended specs were released, but it looks like it’s even worse than we expected. It sounds like the game is mostly a solid release except for the...
I never play these types of games but I distinctly remember my friend having a full on meltdown about how fucked up the first Cities Skylines was like a decade ago, lol.
I’ve been thinking about making this thread for a few days. Sometimes, I play a game and it has some very basic features that are just not in every other game and I think to myself: Why is this not standard?! and I wanted to know what were yours....
I love a game with a good large settings menu that lets me change as much as possible. If you don’t lock me out of changing all the keybindings then you’re already ahead of the game. I hate when a game has a really badly implemented feature and no way to change it or disable it.
I played the beta and it was the most bland shit ever. Blizzard seems to think making shit boring as fuck and soulless is a good thing? I hate the art style of both 3 and 4 as well, no idea why Diablo games look like cartoon shit these days instead of the dope ass dark moody environments of the first two. 4 is pretty much the culmination of every bad idea Blizzard has wrapped into one
What changed? I played it a bit when it first came out for free to play poor people like me, but it felt really dead and there was no community feel to it or friendly banter between players, just loooooooong queue times and short quiet matches. Anyone who plays it a lot, what’s changed in the last year or so?
Quick question: what the fuck are you talking about? Maybe I’m missing something and you can educate me, I play on PC, where I can use either controller or M&K, and there’s no voice commands to do anything whatsoever.
Probably going to see a lot of this since Microsoft bought them and is still apparently allowed to be basically a monopoly. Microsoft does one thing well: shelve beloved series to never be seen again.
It died for the exact same reason every single aspect of life is getting shittier and shittier. Shareholders. When a company is publicly traded, it has NO CHOICE but to get worse and worse and worse, because shareholders will accept NOTHING beyond continuous growth. If you lose value in the market, they will run for the hills, if you plateau they will run, if you suddenly start making even slightly smaller gains, they will run. They are the sole reason for every decision, and because of that, every single decision will be a detriment to both employees and consumers. Underneath all the bullshit, this is why everything will go to shit eventually unless it is both privately held and by people with good intentions, which is rare to find tied together.
I played 8 first and fell in love with it, then I played 7 and it was so fucking incredible to my little brain, I had so many dreams back then about that game. I really liked 9 and gave 10 a shot but neither of them really hit me the way that 7 and 8 did.
The news isn’t a surprise as Unity angered a lot of its loyal game developers a few weeks ago after pushing through a price increase based on numbers of downloads — and then retracted it after an uproar.
Nice postering, but CEOs are not ideas guys, this likely wasn’t even his brain child. The people responsible are still likely there and will continue to push the company in the wrong direction.
I mean, realistically these days nothing gets done without the investment boards decision. Investors control fucking everything, and IMO are directly the root cause of the enshitification of everything.
If I hadn’t seen this play out so many times before the fall guy theory might seem crazy, but it’s totally plausible if he’s only been there a short time, but I thought he said in his message he’d been there 10 years?
The more rare, obscure, or just a guilty pleasure, the better. Maybe you grew up with it, maybe it’s just the nostalgia talking, any reason is fine....
I only ever really had the basics with my Gameboy sadly, but I had a lot of fun with Pokemon Red and Zelda Links Awakening (which I prefer to the DX version where they removed the fun teleporting glitch). Now I went this thread for other systems like PSX, lol.
I knew one kid that had the printer and I saw it in action one time. It was shit. 😂 Mostly it comes from nostalgia for Z:LA, it was the very first game in my life that was bought just for me with my new Gameboy Pocket (not color, I had the ice blue edition).
So I’ve been using youtube ad blockers since pretty much when ad blocker extensions were first available. Lately though I’ve been getting hit more and more with these messages that YT was sending out every 5 or so videos telling me that adblockers aren’t allowed. No problem, just gotta wait 5 seconds to x it out and then...
Quit using shitty browsers? I see zero ads on YouTube in Firefox with ad blockers. I mean there’s about a million other reasons to not use Chrome as well, but use this anger as your catalyst.
It’s only even an issue for people because they’re using shitty browsers like Chrome, lol. YouTube doesn’t even warn me and I never see ads. Firefox for life.
This thread is in c/technology, but I swear these are some of the least tech literate comments I’ve seen. Stop using Chrome, yesterday. Use Firefox, use ublock origin. On Android use Revanced. I never see an ad on my PC or phone using YouTube, including ads in the video by the content creators (sponsorblock is built into Revanced and can by toggled).
Sorry about that, this is just the usual case when I see this complaint. Let’s figure out why you’re experiencing this because I’m a HEAVY YouTube user and I want everyone to have as good of an experience as I do.
Fingers crossed it doesn’t, but in the meantime, let’s figure this out so we all can avoid the BS. I’ll check all my addons when I get home to see if there’s anything else that would be helping me. On Mobile I do have AdGuard (the one not available on the play store), but I believe I would be ad free without it just from Revanced.
Just wanted to come back to this and say while I checked and didn’t have any addons besides ublock that should be helping (with many of the extra lists checked/enabled in settings), I do have tampermonkey with these scripts and maybe they’re helping:
Simple Sponsor Skiper YouTube CPU Tamer by AnimationFrame YouTube HD YouTube polymer engine fixes YouTube Web Tweaks YouTube(Chinese characters) YouTube AD Blocker
Along with some others that I don’t think would apply.
Well it must have worked. All I heard for months when it came out was how bad everything about it was, then I finally got it myself and it quickly became one of the top favorite games of my life. Sorry for everyone who had a bad experience because I loved it so much.
LMFAO, a lot of you guys sound so fucking bitter and I don’t understand. I used a Vive years ago and it was so much fun, zero nausea the very first time I played it and I played it for hours. The tech has only gotten better and better. Stay mad. 😂
Edit: Accidentally said Rift when I actually meant the HTC Vive. It was awesome.
Good to know. They don’t have cameras you put around the room right? How is the tracking? I worry about it losing tracking a lot when the controllers aren’t in view.
Okay #retrogaming - I got Kodi set up on my #nvidia#shieldtv with the internet archive game launcher... and I just re-re-remembered that my beloved #steamcontroller won't work with it... I have no idea why I keep forgetting this.
I'm looking for 4 cheap bt controllers but the market is flooded... any #suggestions ?
Man I tried and then I tried again and then I tried some more, a whole bunch, but I could not force myself to like that controller. Just holding it was bad, reminds me of The Duke which was impossible to use when I was a kid trying to hold it. I got a DS5 and it’s been the best controller I’ve ever used by a huge margin and I’ve used a ton.
Edit: Just saw your price range, I’m not sure for that low you’ll end up with anything that you don’t just get pissed every time you go to use it. There are some decent cheap controllers, but I think you’ll be hard pressed to find anything decent below at least $30.
Ha ha, to each their own, for me it was one of the worst controllers I’ve ever used, and using the SC reminded me a lot of it and I also never could get comfortable with the trackpads regardless of how much I tried to force myself to use it in different genres of games. I’m glad you enjoyed them though! Maybe look for a larger controller if there more comfortable to you while you’re on your hunt.
Well, Cities: Skylines 2 is here, and it's another broken game release.

What is something (feature, modes, settings...) you would like to see become a standard in video games?
