Stardew Valley is the game that keeps on giving. At this point, I wish there was just more. More towns to visit, more activities, more everything.
The only thing that does kind of suck is that after year 1 I feel like I’ve kind of mastered whatever I was attempting to do. I’ve heard some people say after year 1 is where they enjoy the game the most, but idk I feel like by that point I’m making more money than I need and the only thing left to do is collect stuff or attempt the skull cavern.
But man. That first year is a blast. I’ve been thinking I should try out more mods or possibly a jojamart run at some point
The first time I tried my time at Portia, I found building stuff took forever. I was trying to build a bridge(iirc?) And I felt like it was just going to be a lot of waiting. Was I playing it wrong?
Sorry for the late reply! This is an incredibly extensive list, thank you so much! I’ll have to give the game another go at some point here. It seems super charming, so maybe if I go into it with this added knowledge, I’ll be able to get my bearings. Have you tried the new game that just released a while back? I think it was called my time at Sandrock?
I am begrudgingly continuing my NG+ run of elden ring today so that I can play the DLC on Friday. It’s my own fault because I started NG+ thinking I would get through it. But after an almost 200 hour first playthrough, I was done and put it down.
I am not a big fan of how the DLC requires you to get further into the game to play it. But that minor gripe aside, I am quite interested to see where they take us in the DLC. I’m thinking I’ll need to fight my way to be able to respec again and I might go into the game as a spellcaster once more. Not quite sure just yet, but thinking about the possibilities is getting me a bit hyped haha
Plus, if you don’t live in Vancouver or Toronto, your chance of seeing a non Canadian artist is a lot more slim. And even then, they might come nearby, but then you’re spending either gas money, a plane ticket, plus staying overnight at a hotel.
Idk about everyone else, but I’m struggling to pay the cost of living. Never mind having a luxury like that.
First to answer your question. Gosh man…I feel like everything is insanely expensive now. Food entertainment, resources, everything. It’s brutal. I went to a local used game shop and prices have not recovered since 2020. Some games are stupidly overpriced now.
Oh, I’ve seen this cabinet in person! It’s much smaller than I expected and would be kind of awkward to actually use. I’m 6 foot, and I would have to look down at it to use it.
It’s cool, though. The artwork is really neat.
I think if I was going to get a cabinet, there were only two ways I would want to go about it.
I would probably make my own and spend a heck of a lot of time and money on it. It would be a pain to do, but the end product would be something that fits my tastes and works perfectly. Those cabinets that are essentially just big emulators seem to make the most sense to build imo.
acquiring a DDR machine. I have no idea if you can even build those. I mean, I guess you could, but those would probably be expensive as heck.
I built a custom GBA a while back and I think when it was said and done I spent around $300+ CAD on it? It was more expensive than it needed to be, but it was a fun project to try. I taught myself how to solder too, which was fun.
Canadian government just wants mindless drones. They care about the general population as a resource.
If they cared, they wouldn’t have let things get like this, and they would actively be pursuing ways to make things better.
Edit: I should add voting reform would have been massive if the liberals followed through with that. As it stands now from my personal perspective, it’s the wealthy and powerful vs the general population.
Man, it’s been wild seeing fascism growing over the past decade. I mean, it was always around, but it’s really gotten worse. The trouble is I have no idea how you would even begin to resolve the issue.
Like you have people wanting to kill American liberals (which is hilarious because politically the American democrats are not even close to being leftist or the big boogieman, “communist”).
It really seems like you have a very large group of uneducated and violent people who think Trump will allow them to fulfill their fantasies of control over others. The pain in the ass is that their ideology is spreading globally.
That would hopefully prevent a bad government, but I’m not sure how to actually resolve the ideological issue. People who hold those beliefs won’t stop believing them. At least not quickly.
I’m not sure how you would make them see reason and reduce extremist beliefs. Otherwise, we’re just constantly trying to deal with a sick population
I wish the internet archive didn’t pick that battle with these companies. I don’t have faith that they will win when the government sides with corporations so frequently. I hope they have a way to dump everything to the public to be backed up. I fear if they were taken down we would lose all that important information
So this is something I’ve recently realized that I’ve been experiencing. I still vote in my countries elections and stuff. But I’ve realized I’m starting to get fatalistic ideas. I feel like, in a sense, I’m losing hope for a better future. In my own personal life I can’t seem to get ahead financially.
I used to wonder why some people would just completely throw in the towel when it came to politics and I’m starting to maybe understand how they could get there. It scares me for my own well being as i feel like im maybe giving up on the idea of finding a better job/having better footing in my life. But yeah I’m at a loss at the moment.
I hope that things get better for everyone sooner rather than later

This will happen in every industry. There’s no ethical consumption under our current system because there’s no way to track where resources, materials, items come from, who made them, and how their workers are being treated.
Edit: I just remembered the story from the last year Or two where they found all those kids working in meat plants in the USA. Slavery and other unethical practices happen globally. I wish there was better ways to stop it. I’m glad people are talking about it and hopefully it leads to better outcomes in the future
“Inspired” by the Square-Enix putting their foot in their mouth thread, I thought it’d be interesting to make a little thread about indie games. People always talk about wanting to try different, cheaper titles, but with how hard it is to get good gaming news and the state of advertisement/marketing, word of mouth tends to...
I don’t have time to read all this just yet because I’m at work lol. But I LOVE this topic. I’ve always been so torn on indie games. Some can be awful, but others are genuinely the best thing ever.
I will have to write out a list of my favorites in a bit
I loved the building, but I find the other half of the gameplay quite boring. Some of the more focused games i thought were a bit better, but it’s been quite some time since I’ve played them.
Have you seen any of the youtube previews of Paralives? I’m very curious if the building in that title will be better. They have a couple features that seem really nice
I really hope for the sake of North America that they don’t vote Trump in again.
Like sure the current situation isn’t great. But holy hell was it bad with Trump lol. In Canada it made a ton of bad actor politicians come out of the woodwork and copy his play book. So his behavior is spreading.
Stuff like this has kind of made me partially give up and settle in a sub-par job. There’s always job listings like this. Of course, I still apply, but man, after getting ghosted more times than I can count over the years, I don’t look at listing regularly anymore. I find it just makes me depressed.
Based on Canadian voting history, we’ll flip flop between the conservatives and liberals until the end of time unless some kind of voting reform comes into place. The liberals were supposed to do that but didn’t.
I really wish we had some kind of ranked ballot system. I would rather vote for a third party, but even then, I question how much that would ultimately help. I feel like the people who get into positions of power often don’t prioritize the general population, but that’s my personal bias, and I have no idea what the actual statistics are on that.

There’s no ethical consumption under our current system. Someone down the line is getting screwed. Some worse than others. We likely own, consume, and work with many things that have been created by slave labor. I’m not sure what the solution would be, though. It’s likely quite complicated.
The big companies, known as consolidators, have bought hundreds of clinics from 2012 onwards, according to records and reports, across the country, because pets and vets are big money....
I would love to see that. Forcing politicians to live off minimum wage or close to it would fix a lot, I bet. They would see how tough it can be for everyday people.
I’ve been streaming Lies of P the past week and I think I’ll start the Paper Mario Remake once I’m done that :)
I’ve also been trying to 100% we love katamari reroll. Not sure if I want to even attempt the 1 million roses part though. It seems far less fun than I thought it would be
I haven’t checked it out yet, but I saw someone had made a Lumines demake for the gba. Usually I end up finding out about them through forums and youtube
At this point, I think the genie is out of the bottle. I feel like unless you’re on some p2p encrypted chat, anything typed into the internet is getting scraped. I’m sure everyone at this point has had at least one comment scraped and used for language model stuff.
I don’t like it. But it seems like corporations will always find ways to make money off of other people no matter what
This looks…well amazing but also horrifying. When they showed of GPT assisting with math equations, it made me think of how much better I would be at math if I had an assistant like that growing up.
It also makes me think about how there are going to be so many scams and fraud in the future. It’s already starting, and it’s only going to get worse. I’m sure I’ll be duped by something like this in the future.
Also, people are going to totally be marrying gpt bots in the future lol.
High five. Completely agree lol. I can honestly think of thirty years or more of other activities, hobbies and opportunities that I would actively rather pursue over a paycheck.
I’m terrified that one day, I’ll be forced back into the office. I think I’ve gotten extremely lucky so far. I know 100% I would not have made it through the past couple years if I was in the office. We have personal offices, which is a step up from cubicles, but it’s 4 white walls and no natural sunlight. In the winter I saw sunlight for maybe 10 minutes total a day if I was lucky.
I just don’t think people are meant to be working the way our current societies do. Conditions should be improved across the board for every industry regardless if you are doing white collar or blue collar work. Our lives are too short to be wasted making other people rich.
New week new games! Whatcha all been playing? I decided to finally finish paper Mario ttyd (emulated on dolphin). Almost done with it! Trying to beat bone tail on the 100 level dungeon rn…
Ohh that’s interesting. I found the anniversary edition to be quite a poor adaptation as well. I’m curious how the lost chapters plays on PC. I never got to play that additional content
This is a really hard question for me to answer. So I’m going to go with a bit of a catch-all.
I really like the GBA. But the DS can play DS and GBA titles. But the 3DS is great too and can play all 3 and then some.
I guess the 3DS. There’s just so much that can be packed into it. I haven’t played mine in a while. I wish it was easier to install a capture card in them. There was something special about the games from the GBA to 3DS. The limitations of the hardware had developers experimenting, and we ended up with so many interesting titles. If you factor in the couple n64 games ported over to the 3DS, it’s just so much nostalgia in one handheld.
If I had to go with a runner-up, I think it would be my series X. Being able to play so many backward compatible games is also super nice.
If I truly had to pick single consoles only, with only the games designed for that specific console. I would probably go with the 3ds and the xbox 360. The 3DO or Dreamcast would come after as they had so many unique titles.
I never got to play the ps1, ps2, or psp and vita. So I’ve been curious what I’ve been missing out on over the years.
I have no idea if they hold up today, but I really enjoyed Zombies ate my neighbors, Mickey Mania, World of Illusion (another mickey mouse game), and Taz Mania.
I was wondering this recently, too. The two mobile games I miss most are tiny wings and the original fruit Ninja. But I remember playing Infinity Blade and other random games on my iPad touch that were really good back in 2010
I came across buried bornes 2, and it’s been ok so far. I have no idea if it has microtransactions or ads yet. It claims it does, but I’ve yet to see them. It’s not the best game I’ve played, but the concept is kinda interesting if you use your imagination a bit.
Yeahhh that’s the main issue for me. I’ve stuck with android for the past decade. I didn’t know about dragon fly! It’s not as cute but it’s going to do the trick. Thank you!
I find I very rarely use it as a handheld. I find it kind of heavy and awkward to hold after longer periods of time. I kinda wish Nintendo made another 3ds, lol. I’m extremely curious about what they’re going to do for the switch successor
That would be really interesting. Heck I would even just take people making more games with the gba’s restrictions. I’ve always thought it’s super interesting. As developers get used to working with a console or system, we end up rolling into the next generation. So they don’t really get to flex their skill as much as I think they probably could.
I sometimes wonder what we would see if older consoles had another 7 years of life added to them. I try not to think about it too hard or I get kinda sad about the games we’ll never see lol
This made me realize I haven’t played it yet. I looked up the sales prices and realized why. It hasn’t really gone on sale for a price that I would be comfortable paying. I loved the first one back in the day. I haven’t tried control yet. Might give that a go in the meantime
I really want to use AI like llama, ChatGTP, midjourney etc. for something productive. But over the last year the only thing I found use for it was to propose places to go as a family on our Hokaido Japan journey. There were great proposals for places to go....
So far, there have been two interesting uses I’ve seen for chat gpt.
One is I’ve used it to help me write regular expressions in the very rare time I need to for my job.
The other is kind of cool but also kind of troubling in a way. But I’ve come across a couple of therapy style chat bots that are essentially just reading off a list of “here’s what to do for XYZ”
I’ve tested them a bit, and I’ve found I’m 1) concerned who gets access to the information shared. 2) If/when these kinds of bots will be used to manipulate people in a negative way. 3)The possibility of a bot replying in a bad way that could make an issue worse for someone
Overall, I like the idea of them. I find it’s hard to process information if it’s coming directly from myself, or accept compassion from myself. So funny enough, these chat bots actually work really well in that respect.
In some cases, I’ve had better discussions than I have had with actual therapists, which is funny but also sad.
So while there’s some troubling possibilities, I think there’s a lot of positives that I’ve seen from my time with it.
I always referred to Diablo as an isometric RPG. At the end of the day, language is weird, and as long as we’re able to clearly get our point across to another person and have them understand, I think that’s all that matters. But it’s fun to think about
